  • Our hearts are deceitful and desperately sick. Don’t let your heart trick you into thinking that you can find greater pleasures anywhere but Jesus.

John Piper is to me what Billy Graham was to many. My mom led me to Christ, and men like Piper have drawn me in closer. Much thanks to him and this wonderful organization. Everything that the Spirit is doing through you all is so wonderful to see and be a part of.

Lynn Grant admire but don't idolise people. Remember all men are equal in The Sight of God and will be judged EQUALLY by His Himself.

Its not the heart that deceives you, but the heart can be easily deceived by demons if you not centered in your power.

In accordance with this word and jeremiah 17:9, proverbs 4:23, romans 13:14, 2 corinthians 6:14-18 I loosen one from being deceived by one's heart in my life, the lives of my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquintances, opponents and the body of Christ, while I loosen myself of every unequal yoke and common share with those whose heart is deceiving them, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah!

When you idolize things that aren’t Christ you’ll never be truly satisfied. When you desire Jesus in a righteous manner, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water” You can’t ever be short when pursuing Christ righteously

Can I ask you a question? Some people in my church are baptised with the holy spirit and they asked me if I want it too. I'm not sure if that is biblical, because I'm not sure if I got it when I accepted Jesus as my saviour and lord or if the holy spirit isn't in me right now. The bible says: ,,proof the spirits" and I don't want to do something that isn't from god. Can you please tell me your opinion about that?

Hi Celine...I am just a subscriber of the Desiring God channel and just happened to see this and wanted to respond. The minute we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior the Holy Spirit comes to live within us. 💖 always test everything you hear (yes even at church) by reading your Bible and asking the Lord for discernment and understanding. I hope this helps, and God bless you.

*God, *Lord, always uppercase, this is a basic reverence, we give our own names, (that aren't worth very much) capitals.
When you became a christian, you received the Spirit. Baptism is good, as it is an act of faith, a communion, but, it is NOT the act by which a person is saved, a person could be saved in it, but we are saved by repentance in our hearts. A genuine, clear repentance that The Lord sees and upholds.
May I ask, does this have to do with speaking in tongues? (If you don't know what tongues are, it's the gibber-jabber that many people perform, thinking that it reinforces prayer, unfortunately I used to do so as well, then I started reading the bible and working out my own salvation.
If you have not been baptized, you may go ahead and be, as long as it is baptism without any commission to anything sinful. You may graciously decline and be baptized elsewhere if you do not have peace about it. But better yet than what you or I think, pray.
      Pray about it.

Lethargo226 Yes it's about speeking in tongues. I doubt god, but I want to believe in him because I have never seen a big miracle in my life.

Hi @Celine Klinge speaking in tougues is biblical, the apostles spoke in tougues in acts 2:4. It is one of the evidence of being filled with the Spirit and it is a gift from God. Maybe you can ask your friends to learn more about speaking in tongues, about what the bible says and their conviction and experience.

I believe you should get baptized, as I remember in the Bible saying, 'Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit."' John 3:5
Anyways, being baptized won't necessarily hurt, so might as well right? Although people who aren't baptized can enter into heaven, if Jesus commanded it I think it would be wise to listen

What about the single people who doubt wether marriage is worth pursing? In a culture where divorce is so common place? When we warn our youth about the blindness of "falling in love" and that warning discourages some and creates doubt that their own feelings about someone is not just some superficial, wishful thinking? What about those who are called to singleness and have doubts it is legit because so many around them are married and that seems more spiritually mature? How can I really be sure if I am called to singleness? Especially when so many are not and tell me well most likely I am not because we think you will be great with this person? Is the gift of singleness something I find out once I find myself on my death bed?

    • @teenagegringo393

Hello JH. Divorce being common place is a bad reason to not pursue marriage for a Christian. Neither is peer pressure a good reason to get married. Yes we should beware the fleeting infatuation of "falling in love" and seek the lifelong commitment of a marriage before God, two flesh becoming one, it is a glorious thing and a gift from God... That said you can glorify God in both marriage and singleness... Do you want to be married? Pray that God prepares you for it and gives you a suitable partner. Are you not sure? Pray that He gives you a strong sign, or else takes away the desire from you. I'm in a similar place myself. It's something I am patient about, try not to worry about, and instead seek His Kingdom and His Righteousness first and foremost... And remember that I am complete in Christ, and He is all I need. Hope this helps. God bless.

@@teenagegringo393 It did, thanks. It just hit me recently that the gift of singleness does not mean that your fate is sealed to be single your whole life. It just means while you happen to be single, it is a gift from God.

Im really confused by it all if im fighting to have joy in Christ isnt that a work ? We are saved by grace alone im saved but I have many problems that im struggling with sinful lust hunger for the word and loving Jesus like I should do I know He covered it all and I am forgiven but I want to enjoy Christ because of who He is naturally from love not work at it maybe im misunderstanding I pray God will give me clarity

Mike Hill If you are speaking of the things he was about fighting each day, those are worldly things we must fight and have fought all our lives. As humans we have that because of free will but works as he speaks of is trying to help someone or doing good things to gain a place with God. That is what is considered works as we can't buy our way to heaven. I hope this helps some and may God bless and help you on your journey.

Salvation is not everything. Jesus is. Salvation is not an end bit it is a way to live a life full of joy in Him and With Him and because you love thaybsi much you will protect it with the sword of the Holy Spirit so the world doest take away that JOY. Because salvation nobody cant take it from you.
