The Best Mochi you'll ever make (Easy Recipe)

Taiwanese Mochi.... the best mochi.. 3 ways
Incredible QQ and delicious Mochi. This is my personal favorite type of Mochi and it comes in 3 amazing flavors! Very simple, super fun, and a delight to the tastebuds. Learn the best way to make these from square one. Add Taiwanese and Chinese cuisine into your cookbook :)
Recipe
Mochi (8-10 pieces, double the recipe if needed)
- Sweet Rice Flour (150g)
- Tapioca Flour (30g)
- Powdered Sugar (50g)
- Water (175g)
Topping & Filling (amount is dependent on your preference, ratios more important)
- Peanuts (1/3 cup)
- Peanut Butter (optional but yummy)
- Black Sesame Powder (1/4 cup)
- Red Bean Paste (1/4 cup)
- Sugar (1/2 cup)
- Water as needed
Prepare the Toppings and Fillings
1. Roast peanuts in oven for 10-15 minutes on 325 degrees Fahrenheit and until you get a nice golden color. Let these cool down to room temperature
2. Blend the peanuts on a very low speed to prevent it from pasting, we want a nice powder. Then mix the powder with a peanut/sugar (2:1) ratio. Use this for the Topping
3. Take a portion of the topping to make the filling, and mix in peanut butter and a tad more sugar.
Black Sesame: Mix a Black Sesame Powder/Sugar (1:1) Ratio
Red bean Paste: Can be used straight out of package, already a very sweet ingredient.

4. Mix the flour and powdered sugar... then mix in the water in increments, ensuring it is mixed well before adding more. Continue until you can pick up the whisk and get a nice constant flow. (5-8 min)
5. Transfer mixture into a dish, cover it and poke some small holes on top. Steam for 15-20 minutes and make sure you can't see any water when it's complete.
6. Wrap the dough in saran wrap carefully, this dough is extremely stick and will only not stick to saran wrap and good gloves. Wait for the dough to cool down a bit to handle easier
7. With gloves, tear off a piece of dough and form it into a ball. Using your thumbs and index fingers, create a pocket for the filling. Add in your filling of course and then seal it up nice and tightly. Splash it around in our peanut toppings
Done! The best Mochi... go impress your friends and family.
