Listening to a Oculus Imperia video about House Delaque, while painting House Delaque, while effectively dressed as House Delaque is the most meta iv been in a long time.....
In this work, acolytes, we hear the range of the Oculus. No trembling fear of lifting the veil of chaos. No, here we are blessed to hear the Oculus chew the scene, savoring the dark secrets of Necromunda as if they were honey...
Actually, I've been over to his place. He's spending most of his time sitting on his couch shitposting with sock accounts, if a sock account was a puppet god. He's basically an eldritch acoustic hikikomori.
Arbitor Ian also has a few really good videos about necromunda in his early catalog. It's one of the reasons I subscribed to his channel. He really knows his stuff when it comes to the real-world history and development of Games Workshop.
Right now I'm repainting my House Orlock gangers with a Ghost Rider motif, and I'm thinking of making a Veteran Guardsmen killteam, but I need ALL the Necromunda Weapon/head bits to swap stuff for that :p , so this is what I want to see more of heheh.
I visited South Catalina last summer from Phoenix. And OMG I thought we had it rough with 2-3 months of hellish 115° heat but SC made me realize it could be sooo much worse. Humidity is hell
@@Legitpenguins99I'm in NC and yeah, id prefer 105 dry heat, over 90 with 99% humidity 😂 It's like getting smacked with a damp towel the instant you walk outside
I'm so glad you're covering Necromunda again, it's so underrated... some of the best Warhammer lore out there. I sincerely hope you'll keep on covering this awesome setting and maybe one day work your way to the Aranthian Succession!
Glad for this, though in another Warhammer with a video game equivalent related lore I do hope an expose on Rogue Traders in your delightful narration style will also be on the way someday 😉
"And for a time, it was good." - you can really hear in the Occulus' voice how many times in his researches he's read this story and how every time it falls apart.
I humbly apologize for being 20 minutes late milord, I was listening to the subsector news reports on the vox about the upcoming administorum political transition. I beg your forgiveness, and you have my undivided attention as well as my significant interest. Just yesterday, I was thinking about to meeting with my contact about a hired gun opportunity for me and my cyberhound. So this lecture is quite well timed. Ave Imperator.
The Literary Analysis Nerd: Ah, a Lovecraft Reference. Classic. Outer Gods preserved by their slaves until new stock foolishly come wandering to their doom and become enthralled to the terrors beyond their comprehension. How darkly exciting, so mysterious. The Warhammer 40k Lore Nerd: Ah damn it, it's Fenrisian Krakens all over again. They're fucking Genestealer Cultists without the genetics. Look. Big ancient gods, whole planet got sucked dry, it's Tyranid behavior 101: Eat biomass. Gods go to sleep for a long time, the Tyranids hibernate between galaxies. The psychic dream-plague is also consistant with the Shadow in The Warp. The connection itself? The Genestealer Patriarch having to work a network without the normal psychic ties from the Genestealer organ implant. Or worse, maybe there were remnants of an old Genestealer infestation, genetic dead ends and inactive strands, from the original Necromunda colonists that eventually gained enough mass for the Patriarch to ping, and the Tyranid presence in the galaxy *is even older still*.
The gangs in old Necromunda were very similar. They started with the same budget, buying the same gangers and juves and heavies with the same autoguns and frag grenades and rebreathers. The only difference was slightly different access to skill tables. You start with no skills and are not guaranteed to ever get one. Gangs diverge during play as their members advance, recruit, find weird stuff, get mauled. Outlanders got more odd gang types. Scalies, arbiters, spyrers, redemptionists etc. Of course you could dump anything you liked in a campaign. Genestealers, orks, starvation, arbiter suppression, eldar etc.
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if the Aranean Continuity had an equivalent to House Delaque infiltrating its various societal levels, only to be foiled by the arrival of Great Crusade forces & the might of the Imperial Fists? 😅
Oof hope this is a series in the making, love Ashe waste nomads and hope they get a video. You could combine the Squats lore into the same video since there's not much.
My first step into the 40k Universe was Necromunda. Orlock, to be precise. We also had Escher, Goliath, Van Sarr, and Ratkin. I eventually used them as conscripts in my 40k Imp Guards.
I like to play up the availability of cheap bionics. Not good bionics but onsy enough. An eye that restores a grainy vision or a foot that's good as long as you only jog at most.
This has brought the idea to my head that Necromunda is just Fallout Earth in 40K. A wasteland of a world, filled with competing factions ranging the spectrum from barbarian tribes to high tech government remnants all while a Lovecraftian horror exists underneath it all.
I mean not really. And also yes. It's one of the largest manufacturing worlds in the imperium, with successful exports etc. That isn't really a fallout setting. Ash wastes yeah pretty much.
I absolutely love the lore of Necromunda and it was definitely a surprise to see House Delaque!!!I've actually watched it twice already and I'm going for a 3rd once the sun goes down, excellent you've added the Lovecraftian style you used!!!

You and Luetin09 literally became an addiction of mine, I feel withdrawals if I don't get at least 30 min of listening to both of you. Your writing style is impeccable and helps visualise the worlds and events you retell, Luetin's often tin foil conspiracy rants send me on trips of speculations. I am happy that I exist among folks like you, I hope you realise how much you make my days better
Fitting, as I just recently watched the gang wars vid by luetin. They're both very critical to my dedication to the 40k universe. As well as baldy, vox and abprince. I call em our Founding Lorefathers.
They had pretty different rules. They tossed out the gang economy rules completely. You got ten arbiters, no more and no less. One was a sergeant, one a special weapons dude, one dog handler. They got good starting kit and were pretty tough. But you usually played a patrol of five, the whole troop was not out. They never had territory, income, upkeep. Should an arbiter die or get promoted you got a free rookie.
I liked to make gang life normal. Like spending a phase of life in a gang is normal in a house. You are underhive houses, without the relative safety of mid-hive houses. Becoming an outlaw gang is an entirely different process.
I'd be interested to see if Oculus makes a video for Van Saar, considering the origin of their technology. I don't know how he'd be able to talk about their STC, and/or how he'd even know about it in context because of how radioactive (pun intended) the topic is. If anyone can do it, though, he can! 👍

In all seriousness this is a list of my favorite gangs: 1) House Delaque 2) House Van Saar 3) House Orlock The rest are weird. Also, I can't stand the House Escher because they are nothing but DEI.

New Luetin and new Oculus Imperia videos dropped on the same day. I shall sleep well this weekend!
I had no idea how good the Necromunda lore was - Cthuluean space horror in the underhive!? Yes! Love it. Wonderful video, thank you.
I love the updated, Lovecraftian lore of House Delaque.
I was wondering just the other day if there is any memory of Lovecraft in 40k, the way the remember Shakespire and the arabized Po.
Oculus said "warp taint." Sorry, I'm forever 12yrs old on the inside. Awesome work as always!! The Emperor Protects.
I just got off work. Did several full telecomm re-wires today in the deep south. Warp taint fully describes what I'm dealing with right now.
