You shud tie your enjin to you boat or bold into the boat. To prevent the engine from fell into the river when you hits somting.. trus me,my uncle loose his engine because the clamps become loose due to vibration..
That's correct but only if you using the yamaha oil for the mixture...The outboard will run for years after.Wrong or to much of bad oil can damage the lovely machine ...
Got a 25 hp 2008 year model bought it the same way brand new and had been used once, and I couldn’t believe the manual said 100:1 but I read where people were having problems with 100:1 and I mixed it 50:1 and it ran awful and struggled to idle so I mix it about like you 75:1 or somewhere in between
i run my 2001 suzuki 6hp on 100:1 cause i found an old instruction manual on the internet that says it's the proper way but like half the internet says it should be 50:1. i'll keep running it 100:1 and i'll see when it goes wrong i suppose
What boat do you have it on? I’d be interested in top speed speedometer tests on these! I just love comparing old 2 stroke 15 Horse Outboards with each other. So far just by RUclips, I’m inclined to believe that the Mercs and OMC’s are the top performers.
My Evinrude is 67lbs and the Yamaha is 73lbs. I would say they are about equal in top speed but the Yamaha is just an all around nicer, quieter and less crude engine. The equivalent 4 stroke is heavier with less torque and twice as expensive. Easy choice for me!
my parents got a 9.9hp at their cabin, its tuned to 15hp, whats the difference between the motor they use, and the 15? is the 9.9 just a 15 thats limited?
Yes. You can re-jet the carburetor or just purchase a new one for the 15hp, bolt it on and you have 15hp. Identical motors. Keep the cover as anything over 9.9hp needs a license Good luck and thanks for the comment!

Lost one motor 25years ago that way. I learned my lesson the hard way. Thanks for the suggestion.
I’ve had one of those motors. It’s probably one of the best.
I agree. 2strokes have 1/2 the weight and twice the torque. Gas mileage is way worse but the trade off is acceptable. Thanks for the comment.
Man. nice you can use 100 to1 if your using a good quality full synthetic oil !
I’m running near to 100/1 now, seems like the right thing to do.

Best of the Best!
I realized the first few minutes had 50/1 in the hose still. It certainly liked the 75/1 better.
A new 2 stroke.....Now that's a find.....Should push that aluminum boat with ease!!😎
Wow you got a cherry there. Lucky boy!
Sometimes I feel lucky! Thank you for the kind word.
Très magnifique

I guess you have to trust the factory manuals. I have many vintage motors that run 24/1 so it just seems so low…. Good luck with the motor!

Thank you for the offer but I plan on catching lots of crab with it this summer!
