    It stopped raining when my hubby’s CVO Road Glide, the Rainmaker 2, left to go back home to Indiana. We bought it in June from Farrow North!

    You are right, Sturgis is what you make it. For us, its a base camp at a quiet campground, with 1200 miles of great riding in South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. Just hanging out at the Chip is a tiny part of the rally. There are typically 22 to 26 live bands playing in the area every day, from noon to 1:00 AM. If you haven’t explored the small towns in the area, your are missing the best parts of the rally IMO. We spent time in Deadwood, Lead, Hot Springs, Custer, Keystone, Hill City, Spearfish, Beulah, Whitewood, Sundance, Newcastle, Nemo, Rochford, and Rapid City. It took three trips to the rally to just ride most of the back roads in the area. If you are on a touring bike you can be comfortable on all day long, you can explore and hang out sun up to sun down.

    This is why Heather and I usually ride up on Friday and home on Monday. That's typically enough rally for us to be honest. Thank you guys for making us stay longer this year though, it was definitely needed and hanging with yall made the trip worth it!
    P.S. I bet that live wire was faster than the super 73, but just barely 😁

      If we had to stay at the Buffalo Chip, we’d only last a couple days and be done too. Thankfully there are so many other places to stay, each with their own personality. We stay at Hog Heaven campground on the other side of Sturgis. If we want nightlife or a concert we can go out, and then return home to a quiet campground with regular adults no BS at all hours of the night. We’ve been here 10 days so far, and are sad to see everyone leaving.

      @@FFL-vg9ro this was our first time staying more than 1 night at the chip. Fun experience but I missed my sleep 😂 We usually stay near Custer in a quiet campground or just hotel it in rapid. It's hard to fit everything on the bike two up for tent camping. Lots of sacrifices have to be made. We had our van this year so we figured we'd break it in with the chip 😁

    There are other campgrounds or hotels that you would enjoy your time more if you’re not into the party atmosphere.
    I stay at a hotel and enjoy riding the black hills and enjoy looking at all the bikes and craziness in Sturgis but going back to my hotel and getting a good nights sleep and up early to riding again before most wake up at noon.

    Hi Jordan, I liked all of the videos that you have made on your trip that I saw. I have been riding off and on for years and have never been to a motorcycle rally. Not that I wouldn't want to go to one but just haven't. Anyway thanks for your take on it. Have a safe trip back home, and stay safe out there.

    It makes sense it is a great event but that at some point you are over the festivities. Partying for a few days straight is tiring, physically and mentally, since at some point you are just done. Even though you had great fun at the time it was happening. Glad you guys enjoyed it though and awesome you rode the LiveWire.

    I believe that Sturgis was originally a gathering around a flat track racing event. (I don't know if the races still happen.) It is similar to how Daytona Bike week happens around racing that now takes back stage to the other activities.
    How is your green eyed girl (cat) doing in the trailer?

    Sometimes, silence is more powerful. Enjoy the moment and be present in the moment. I’ve been in Sturgis during the rally and not during the rally, and I prefer the not during the rally. The rides are less crowded and I feel safer.

  • @dasvtx
    @dasvtx Год назад

    I think for me, I'd be the same. Not into the huge crowds and 'scene' of the rally itself but I'd really enjoy riding the area and seeing the sights. I think a day or two at the rally itself would be more than enough for me.

  • @clarewilliams5907
    @clarewilliams5907 Год назад

    Do you think that if you went to a quieter campsite than the Buffalo Chip appears to be ( English and never been to Sturgis ) that you would have enjoyed it more?
    Interesting that both you and Jess were giggling away on the Livewires.
    New vehicles in the UK have to be all electric from 2030 - and some motorcyles have until 2035 to fully change. This of course is subject to the laws changing as the deadline draws nearer. Bikes bought before 2030/2035 can still use petrol - as long as it is at a reasonable price

    Agreed, I don't understand the get wasted and fall asleep in the dirt thing about Sturgis. Hell, I can do that at home. I'm like you, ,I'd rather travel outside Sturgis and see other things. I test rode the livewire bout 2 yrs ago at a Harley dealer demo day. That thing is fast!. It's a fun ride, but not something I would ever buy. I need to "hear" my motorcycle. Maybe I'm just to old school.
