    Great video but wanted to say people should definitely look at doing this themselves with 8040 aluminium profile. I bought an aluminium blade for my miter saw and it goes through it like a knife through butter. There are so many designs you can find online to copy and you can start cheap and build up later. For example i started with an Ikea chair 2 years ago and just moved over to a proper car seat for my rig.

    Have you used this with a centre mounted joystick? I’ve currently got a t16000m on one of these kinds of mounts and on the top of the mount I’ve got a 11.6” screen behind two cougar mfds….works great but the t16000m base makes it a little awkward to sit “around”. The narrower warbrd with virpil grip looks like it could be a lot easier to set up as centre mount.
    I really don’t want to go down the route of mounting an extended grip to a chair

    I just got myself. The winwing Orion 2 MAX F-18 TWCS/ F-16EX Stick came with the max but it came with additional programmable axis. I've heard of VirP & at the time let's say I got a little buyers remorse. I love the f-18 and we'll get the landing and also the ordinance setup attack mod. I was really going to go whole hog and get the dash the Top Gun dashboard but there's another 1K USD 🫣 I seen the table mount but I was so concerned about the weight of the t-base and the size. Also the throttle being a rocker the stroke and hitting my knuckles on that mount. VirPil has a standard programmable small base and you can add as many as you wish to them. At the time I really didn't think it threw. I could have programmed the VIRP mods the same way as the f- 18. WW set up the same and tagged the buttons as to what they would be. Of course! After a certain amount of flight time and also of course mapping each aircraft as similar as possible so you don't have to for the right switch then you end up grabbing the mouse and doing it yourself in the cockpit. But about the mount I almost got it. But instead I got the marada flight chair with the mount for left right and center. It is a serious cost of $350 US all together. The desk gaming center I purchased. Also, I just went through 2K in the last 30 days but the gaming desk did not or is not working out. I'm inside of a V on a corner desk with the main 32-in SCPEC tre monitor and I have two more coming, but it seems like the center is a little too far away for my eyes. I'm an Old Navy rotorhead 90 to 96 CVN 67 My eyes seem to be failing me. I have the zoom but at that distance is still seems far away. I think I should have gave myself more time and patience. I'm 55 years old. My boys are in their mid 30s and disabled I am. I saw all the eye candy lol and started ordering. Many were gifts. Wonderful gifts. I did see you work. The clamp mount. It seem to be really sturdy. I thought it would have some wiggle to it. Here in the US it goes for $85 and there is so many other competitors of the same. I thought if I use that I would have to add to the bottom of the desk mount for some extra support and a metal plate to the top not to mess up the carbon fiber top. But I did talk to virpil and I'm going to get my helo set up through them. I believe they're going to send it to me to evaluate being a Hilo pilot military and civilian. I love the idea and I believe I'm going to try the desk mounts and see what happens. I've also seen the flight chair that is mounted in the same way where you can add unlimited and build your own flight cockpit. Monitor arrays X3 for the surround experience. Also you can mount speakers but the virpil control unit. Although there are a couple that differ, they have a main line that you just add to each other to add more inputs and I believe those small units may have 10 to 15 inputs per mod. I have over 140 with WW at 500 plus shipping $600. That's a lot. Very good video. I'm going to check out some more when I get some more time. Thank you for your time. Sorry for the bio. Deeply appreciate your view. Honest you on this product. I wish you well on your journey. May it be filled with joy and laughter and progress. God bless 🕊️

    Thanks for the insightful review. Surprisingly expensive for what it is. I suppose they realise they're not going to sell millions of these, as few of us have these high end controllers. I'm going to have a go at building something myself, which won't replicate this, but will probably be every bit as sturdy at perhaps a quarter of the price. Thanks again though

    • @metaller1317
      @metaller1317 Год назад +2

      I actually thought the same and tried to just get the same materials they used and build it myself, but the price for the materials is like 75% of what you pay when you order their kits. And of course if you want to completely build it yourself you need at least some experience and you need to actually find all the parts. And this is not something every hardware store has.
      I think their prices are pretty fair.

    • @chocomilkfps1264
      @chocomilkfps1264 2 года назад +3

      @@EbonySeraphim that is a way to look at it, and I’m not even saying it’s wrong, but another way to look at is that it’s 12 years old and still has the same cheap/poorly designed gimbal it had at release.
      I think it can be very very good if you replace that (I haven’t kept up, don’t know how cheap/easy it is to do), but I wouldn’t say the Hotas itself is excellent. It’s like a Ferrari with a lawnmower engine, looks amazing and high quality, but they cut corners on the single most important thing, yet kept the Ferrari price tag.
      You could do a lot worse true, but at that price point you shouldn’t have to say “you can do a lot worse” to justify it. (This is all just imo, and admittedly it’s been a while since I kept up with his stuff.)

    • @EbonySeraphim
      @EbonySeraphim 2 года назад

      @@chocomilkfps1264 I’d separate “12 years old and same” from “How have Thrustmaster not decided to fix/upgrade this?” TM has a lot more product areas they cater to at other price points, so no they aren’t iterating on the Warthog HOTAS as quickly as say Virpil is with the Mongoos CM1-3 in 2 years.
      In a sense it kind of sucks if just two years time you bought into CM1 or 2 and then it got improved on in a way you have to replace what you have.
      Mostly though I think calling the gimbal “crappy” is the overstatement of the century. Many people have worn it down, many others have not. Some reviewers like the resistance and weight it has, others do not. I don’t know why so many have not realized it is a matter of opinion and TM clearly went with military modeling, “not trivial force to do anything.” You may not like it for gaming, but they did what they did. Feel free to use mods to change things to your liking?
      Worn it a bit? It’s serviceable. Open it up and fix it. These, and others. are the principles that only 8+ years later competitors started doing respectably well with other HOTAS systems. But we’re stuck on “meh, the gimbal wasn’t quite right and had issues?”
      If we were to examine the “GOAT” of HOTAS, it would either be the X52 or the TM Warthog. Just because there exists current offerings now that exceeds both of them, they’re still not goats until we see enough people using them for over a a couple years and really see what it’s like after some wear and understand that what they introduce to the industry is something everyone else after is expected to do and can’t seem to match for some time.
      And as far as price point. A part of it was pandemic stuff. But honestly it says something that people were that confident in owning a TM Warthog even when aged. Mine is over years old, lightly used some repairs and one upgrade, and if someone else purchased from me I’m sure they’re good for at least 3-4 years unless they abuse it daily. Overpriced? Sure, but people do like peace of mind in how long something will last.
      Right now what I see out there from Virpil and Winwing reviews is all speculation. Mind you, I’m switching my stuff over to Virpil on faith, but truly the oldest relevant reviews are a year. I noticed Winwing Orion throttle reviews speaking high praise to what seem to be a solid system; and less than a year or two later Orion2 is released fixing some issues noticed in less than a year of ownership by a small group of people. Warthog has had its issues (used to have a board component that died, mine did) but it probably took 2-3 years and a lot more market saturation to occur.
