I remember considering this game for a purchase when I was 13 years old, the decision process took about half a year. Then my parents gave me the money after I lobbied for further three months. Then I finally bought it. I spend genuine moments playing it on my mega drive, manifesting the 90s experience. I realized already back then this game was a true gem. Today I am 40 and I am in the decision process to buy a 50 k vintage sports car. A major part of this decision process is that I listen to this soundtrack and imagine in which car this sound would kick most. The music actually leads me to the car... So great! A 70s car with a 90s fusion transformed into 2021. Lets rock!
Rented this bad boy as Lightning Force in the USA and it blew me away. Probably the coolest game I played on Genesis at the time, and that is saying alot with titles like Shinobi 3 and Streets of Rage 2 in the mix.
Yesss! But I dont understand why tecnosoft didnt left the background music intact in there. That melody it must had to be for the entire 6th level (a very simple level compared to the first ones). Inspiration was dead. Greetings!
I will always appreciate them for the 0-Life Switch to make it unlimited. One of the original examples of a story mode so people can play the game and see the content. Was the only way I could even make it to Metal Squad. And it helped me get better and better until I didn't need it anymore to make it past Stage 4. Felt good.
I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE THE OMAKES!! Omake 4, sounds awesome, but Omake 8 & 9 go hand in hand, and I can't decide which one of those two I like most. This is too awesome. I gotta remix these.
for me, my favorite track is Stand Up Against Myself, i first heard it in the final level of Skillsaw’s DOOM Megawad, Valiant. i heard that the song had been ripped from here and came to check it out. glad to say it does not disappoint!
I love how the devs were so proud of their sound engine that they made 10 tunes that exist only to be listened to in the sound test
You had to complete the game to get the option. Or at least I had too.
Compsing for a game usually means you end up with a lot of material that doesnt get used. So it makes sense.
Or they were filler tracks until the real ones were made or they just had leftover tracks because they weren't what the director/producer wanted and decided to include access to them anyway.

A good chunk of them if not all are from their older games re-done!
I'm honestly impressed that the S.S.H. remix of Lightning Strikes Again/Metal Squad barely had to embellish on the original.

I love how the video and music are so perfectly in sync. Kudos to the channel's creator. :)
I love how the main stage themes are sorta this funky up-beat techno while the boss battle tracks go full-on ham with that grimy thrash metal sound, such a killer soundtrack on all fronts
Thx for this vid my friend... almost shed a tear to the memories of hours of gaming on this beautiful title !
i get shivers when i listen to this soundtrack and thats very rare for me. this soundtrack is godlike.
My favorites:
07:58 - Evil Destroyer
35:53 - Metal Squad
57:22 - Stand up Against Myself
oh man who ever made this music was channeling some great 80 metal, i hear Megadeath, Judas Priest, Dokken. TFIII, and IV are on my top 10 gens games for sure.
Not only metal, but a fair amount of Jazz-Fusion influences.
Megadeth and Judas Priest are not hair metal.
More like 80s death metal like Fleshcrawl, Entombed, Obituary, Autopsy etc.
You're absolutely right. And this "whoever" didn't think twice:
just took riffs and phrasings and stole them. If we strip the plagiarised
stuff down, i wonder what will remain :-)
@@HexenStar inspiration isn't plagiarism
I remember having stupuid debates with my friends over the sound quality of the Mega Drive and Super Nintendo. I had both but I was adamant that the Mega Drive had great sound and I would just pop this game on when a friend came over to let them hear it. It was also a very good game!
This game is available on Nintendo switch now. In the u.s.a it’s sold under ‘sega ages litening Force’ for like 5-7 bucks. On the Nintendo e-shop, relive the memories.
I've never heard of this game before, but I must say that both the music and the graphics are wonderful. It's very impressive.
That Genesis synth chip SLAPS!
I’ll always remember the soundtrack to this game. Spent hours playing it as a kid
One of the greatest game osts on Genesis, if not the greatest.
One of the greatest game osts of the 16bit era.
One of the greatest game osts of ALL TIME.
The GREATEST game ost in the genre, period.
I agree! The opening song is just too good.
@@st.michaelthearchangel7774 actually, it's one of those well rounded scores, by which I mean every track in that ost is giving me a hard-on
I agree its one of the greatest absolutely, many amazing and powerful songs. Sonic 2 and 3/knuckles are top contenders too imo, for the melodic harmonies and the way they are conveyed in their relative levels 🎶 blessed to be born in 88 just in time for these masterpieces to leave an impact on my developing brain
@@Apocalypse4162 yeah, Sonic & Knuckles ost is one of the greatest too imho, along with Contra Hard Corps and Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure)
This soundtrack is fucking ridiculous.
+monpetube ikr
it's competely nuts
Brief reviews:
0:01 - That's how you introduce a sidescrolling shooter!
0:32 - Sick nasty elevator beats
1:42 - Very "Green Hill Zone" feel, peppy and vibrant
7:16 - "...what have I gotten myself into"
7:58 - DragonForce made a boss theme and it kicks ass
10:24 - Great use of syncopation, very chill
13:27 - Short and spicy
13:58 - We're only 14 minutes in, and it's already this good?!
15:00 - A song to vibe to
17:37 - Writing essays at the last minute be like
19:18 - Like "Evil Destroyer", but more punchy, more focus on drums
20:51 - I can honestly almost see this as a Cowboy Bebop background song
22:56 - Synth Jaws
23:43 - Badass boss fight (machine-gun drums)
24:56 - The Pokémon battle theme you didn't know you needed
27:23 - Best melody and drum use of any the boss fights
28:38 - Good intermission
29:17 - Tense, but still a water level theme through and through
31:37 - Great buildups, but never drops like you want it to
32:56 - The Pokémon legendary theme you didn't know you needed
35:05 - Unique boss theme + spook = happy ears
35:53 - This one explicitly has "metal" in the name, I don't know what else you could expect
40:37 - Industrial plus sci-fi equals this I guess
41:22 - ...Luigi's Mansion, is that you? (42:14) I guess not, just sick drops here.
45:14 - Most intimidating boss music
46:25 - "You do not belong here"
48:20 - There's a reason this is the final boss theme. Simply masterful.
49:58 - Bittersweet, but more sweet than bitter
51:13 - The feeling of going to bed after a really good day
53:24 - Bittersweet, but more bitter than sweet
56:12 - You earned the happy ending, champ
57:22 -
[WIP]
1:29:32 - Funky, I really like this. Shame it couldn't be in the game proper.
Feel free to give me any feedback on this!
hmmmm imo thunder force isn't bullet hell XD

Omake3 is the best track imo

The composition throughout this soundtrack is excellent
Space walk is sooo damn good. The soundtrack is one of the best ever. What a game!!

0:32: Mission Select
0:01: Title Theme
57:22: End Credits
I missed out on this one growing up. Looks like a great game. Soundtrack is too killer; one of the best I've heard off the genesis.
Awesome! Not only all music, but timestamps AND gameplay AND Sound Effects! 10/10
Yeah, Stand Up Against Myself is definitely my fave.
+TheGeniusFetus Same
how have i not heard this godly music before? thank you silvagunner
The music guy is Naosuke Arai, credited as Yunker Matai. This is peak Yunker Matai.
Nobody can deny this epic soundtrack.
Wow .
This soundtrack is absolutely ridiculous - ly AWESOME . They really ram packed that little cartridge for all the space it had !
My absolute favorite level select music of all time
Sand Hell might be one of the best things I’ve heard. It’s so gorgeous and heavy
This game pretty much sums up my childhood. I'm truly blessed to be raised up with this soundtrack in the background. :D
God-tier soundtrack and is the best Sega Genesis OST ever made, imo
Best game soundtracke ver
Lets rock!
Megadrive jack port has revolutionized my gamer's life! The Megadrive is THE game system which have to be played with headphones!
Seriously, props to the person playing.
He/She doesnt die at all ,and more than that he/she doesnt kill the enemies until the soundtrack fully plays.
Check out TimeTrax
Alien Soldier may contend.
Rented this bad boy as Lightning Force in the USA and it blew me away. Probably the coolest game I played on Genesis at the time, and that is saying alot with titles like Shinobi 3 and Streets of Rage 2 in the mix.
The best part about playing this game is when your alliance ships shows up to support you in one stage... and they got all shot down...
5th stage
Yesss!
But I dont understand why tecnosoft didnt left the background music intact in there. That melody it must had to be for the entire 6th level (a very simple level compared to the first ones). Inspiration was dead.
Greetings!
2021 Still my favorite playlist. WHO'S WITH ME?!
Me.
By far, the best looking, best sounding, and best playing game on the Sega Genesis.
Only had Thunder Force II as a kid, still have the box. Enjoyed that games soundtrack so now im listening to this one.
All hail Technosoft. They knew how to please the senses. This game was hard as hell.
I will always appreciate them for the 0-Life Switch to make it unlimited. One of the original examples of a story mode so people can play the game and see the content. Was the only way I could even make it to Metal Squad. And it helped me get better and better until I didn't need it anymore to make it past Stage 4. Felt good.
Hah, even Normal Mode is murderous 😄
@@Krystalmyth Seconded. I'd've never finished Hard or Maniac without it 😄
Played this game last night. Rocked my socks off.
I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE THE OMAKES!!
Omake 4, sounds awesome, but Omake 8 & 9 go hand in hand, and I can't decide which one of those two I like most. This is too awesome.
I gotta remix these.
Good god. That intro theme is too awesome.
This whole soundtrack is awesome! Thanks for the upload brother.
I was 4 years old when this game was released, and still played it. Good times.
Id like to thank "booby master" and "no remorse" in graphics for this gem
Its pretty clear Tecnosoft planned this to be the longest, most epic, and badass shmup ever..and they succeeded.
This soundtrack is the bloody bomb!
The Sky Line is my absolute favorite track from this game.
This is great! I love seeing the music in context like this!
a soundtrack of mythic proportions. Humbled when I got to listen to this gold
1:17:46
Even the unused tracks are some of the best ever released on Genesis. Crazy.
Tecno Soft (Technosoft) Jesus...
for me, my favorite track is Stand Up Against Myself, i first heard it in the final level of Skillsaw’s DOOM Megawad, Valiant. i heard that the song had been ripped from here and came to check it out. glad to say it does not disappoint!
