Really enjoyed your video. I'm not a HGV driver so it's great to get an insight into your working life. Always admired how you driver's cope with all the madness on the roads.
Good to see you looking happier, can't understand why people and companies don't look after their trucks its bonkers, looking forward to you going forward 🤟👍
Well done Daz, apologies I'm late to the comments but we moved house and I had 3 weeks without internet. 4 on 4 off sounds lovely and you'll get that family time that you wanted and need. Stay well 👌🏻
Just found your channel. Pleased you got a much better job. I worked for some shitty company’s in the past. Nothing better than improving your working conditions. I’ve now retired to Orihuela in Spain. (Wife’s fault) Subscribed.
That lorry brings back memories of my grandad 1970's .absolutely fantastic seeing the old girl but it has to be in the original paintwork....the front grill is probably the most iconic ever
Congratulations!!! I found your channel many months ago... And from the first video I saw I understood you were unhappy...but happy for you now... Good luck to you...
4 on 4 off tramping is the bees. First two days pass in no time and on the 3rd you think im going home tomorrow! The best pattern ever. With your holidays counted you spend more time off than at work. Still get night out pay if you're tramping, saves on the commute over working days. And you get days in the week to get stuff done when everywhere is open, doctors, dentists, car in the garage etc 👍
4 on 4 off is great. So much time off, enjoy it! Its what I ended up on after leaving Taylor’s. I got lucky and found a company within walking distance of home too.
I had 4 on 4 off at my last place, I found they loved to use up my reduced rest and 15 hours as much as they could. Plus asking all the time for overtime 5th day and it'll be 3 off, as they constantly had driver issues. But of course they paid well, it was £18 a hour for each hour over the 12.
Another great Vlog, Good luck with the new job, sounds like a big improvement, not 100% sure about the 1.5h each way but if it's working that's brill!! 👍👌 nearly went with Owen's on a 5 on 3 off tramping a couple of years back but took up another offer instead.
trust me ive quit 7 maybe 8 jobs. and Agency work ive turn up at yards and looked at the cabs and said no thanks ill leave it mate becouse they cant get their own drivers ,some waggons are full off food going moldy from weeks ago and bottles off piss .
Get jealous seeing you guys on the artics changing jobs so easy im stuck on class 2 only had my licence just over a year tried so hard, thinking of throwing my licence deffo quitting my current job might try agency to see if i can get any experience on artics if that fails then im done.... Good to see both of you meeting up good vids the pair of you!
True enough im looking but only have a year plus on class 2 the company im with seem to look after the kn..s its weird, work my arse off never say no maybe that's the problem might take a couple days off and try door knocking so to speak.... @@drivefitnessuk
I only really know Taylor’s because they went through our picket lines at Tesco’s in Doncaster when we went on Strike in 2012. We weren’t very happy with them 😁
long course but finally at the point all my theory parts for HGV are on the 13th.. then on to the practical training :D now I really need to get back to dealing with my weight haha
Tradesmen which is what you are require respect of the highest order. Companies have to realise their paying for the operative not the Wagon!!! If common sense was common everyone would have it
You said you went to see the Fitter lol State of the vehicles they have not got one ?? I like the use of the cable tye, is that Scania spec now, shame about the wing put on back to front , take it was easyer to put in on back to front or more to the point did they know the correct way?? Lets see how you get on at Owens in a few months ???? They may have / had to changed lol,
Well I can only wish you well with Owens, see them about a bit more often these days so don't know if they've expanded this way somewhere. A 90 minute commute would be too much for me at my time of life as I've worked for firms less than 15 minutes from home all my life. Did you move further south then when you were house hunting? All the best Daz.
@@drivefitnessuk We are delivering to so many big housing projects at the moment you'd think there was a glut of the things. Good luck with the search, we were fortunate to buy our house in 1988 that had been empty for 13 years, needed a couple of years work as it had been taken over by animals, cows and sheep mainly with rats, mice and squirrels, but the only ones we've kept are the Bats. Needed decorating for sure as the living room was chocolate brown and orange walls, bathroom was black and turquoise with white fittings even the stairs were orange! 🤷♂🤣
Daz this new job sounds brill regards hrs! Especially dvrs with young families. There is another major boost to your income with 4 days guaranteed off it will save on childcare costs! What did I hear? I quit; going back to tramping! LOL! PS; All other dvrs do what 'Boys From The Blackstuff' did & just take all your kids to work with you! Gulp!
Ha! Yeah.. i remember going out with my Dad in the 80s.. nobody cared back then, these days it's all about money and corporate image, not that some companies have a good image anyway lol
UK number plate system has always been weird. Basically new plates come out every 6 months. Since about 2002 first half of the year the plates will be the year number (eg 02) and the second half will have 50 added to it (eg 52). So this year (2023) first half will be 23 plate second half will be 73. Stupid system really but better than the old one where you just had to remember what letter matched to what year. And now you know some pointless info 😂 I'm actually thinking of moving back to Ireland. How's hgv work over there?
He wants to get down to an XL? He should be aiming for Medium all he has to do is eat healthily and exercise for an hour a day. He's just full of excuses
I wouldn’t expect you to bad mouth your company as the bus company I worked absolutely 💯 brilliant when I couldn’t work on with my MS. I decent pension every month & i get to keep my staff retired pass for the rest of my life & I also have Scottish concession plus one which I only use when I have my mate with me. So I do miss my job working on buses 🚍 but I’m really happy with the way things have turned out if that makes any sense Pal. 👍
Always keep a pack of cable ties in your rucksack - primary tip from an agency driver! :)
As a HGV mechanic of 30yr. Sad to see some still have no pride in there work when it comes to repairs
Pleased to hear that Luke_C has a good mentor. Can't be easy staying healthy driving trucks all day. And loving the camera angles.

Great to see you've moved on onto better things.
P.s my mate worked for your previous employer and yeah 😉
Not surprised you quit, I could see you have been unhappy for sometime. Good luck with the new job.
You have to do what makes you happy as long as you don't leave youtube
One lorry I remember my father used to drive was a Foden. The model was an S20 .It was brand new at the time in1959.
Drove a FODEN S106T 2003 great work horse all over Scotland 🏴 spent 30 years on the road couldn’t work for these clowns 🤡 nowadays

Daz don’t blame ya for leaving Taylor’s, Owen’s sounds like a decent move with 4 on 4 off n MORE MONEY always helps with the Beer tokens
Cool video, good luck with the new job, nice to see the Foden getting some TLC. Used to drive a Foden S80 back in the 1980s .

Knights of old haulage went bust a couple of months ago. Margins are simply too tight for most small haulage companies.
As a retired driver living in Spain. ( That’s why I didn’t know ) I was surprised that Knights of Old had gone bust. Terrible.

Took a lot of us by surprise, staff turned up for work and the gates were locked. Staff never received any pay.
