Great video! Very informative and helpful, as an 18 year who recently moved out and hasn't cooked much before, it's the small things like this that are so helpful!
Hey iKanso, thanks so much for the kind comment ! It really makes me happy that I could help in some small way. I will for sure be making more videos. And keep cooking !!
i just made tacos for the first time in my life with help from this and they came out great!!!! thank you so much 😭😭😭 every how to make tacos/beef video i found was always more "family recipe" than literal instructions haha, some of us need the basics!!
So when you said there was a lot of grease, it’s actually water releasing from the meat and when that happens it’s best to keep it on the stove and let it evaporate. After it evaporates you get into searing the meat, that’s where your depth of flavor comes in. When cooking ground beef in my opinion it’s best to crack open two cloves of garlic skin on, add finely chopped onion and add a sprig of thyme for a deep aromatic flavor. Then once you’ve caramelized the onions and you really get the garlic coming through toss your beef in and cook it as I said with all of the ingredients. You’ll have great taste at a low cost!
Thanks Logan for the great comment. I just made this as basic as I could. I love your ideas and maybe one day I will make a more detailed recipe like yours. Also yes there is water but I find alot of it is fat. If you dump it into a cup you can see it. Thanks so much for the comment and I will be sure to make a video and use some of your ideas
Native Cowboy You sound like such a health nut, if you’re worried about the safety concerns of adding additional flavor to meat through the Maillard reaction then don’t eat meat. Fat is not bad and you’re batshit crazy if you think so, what you’re saying to me is that you don’t like fatty things, so don’t eat meat and start drinking skim milk.
I gotta say, I really appreciate a video like this. Looking at recipes is extremely daunting and the whole time I'm worried I'm gonna do any part of it wrong. Thanks for this instructional wholesome video!
Wildpants I really appreciate your comment and I am glad I could help. Just keep cooking and you will get better and better every time. Thanks again for watching and I hope you have lots of amazing meals !

Good video. Easy way to drain fat is to move the meat to one side of the pan tip the pan slightly and take a paper towel and dip it into the fat and the paper towel will absorb the remaining fat.
Can you tell me is that a non stick pan, because I feel like if I do this in my skillet I will need to add oil before placing the beef because it will stick, please reply, thank you !
Definitely put some water or some oil if you want, it’ll help especially at first and remember chop chop chop, the smaller the better because it’ll cook more evenly and faster
Hey, yes its a non stick pan. Any non stick pan will work. The meat has fat and when the fat melts it becomes oil so you do not really need oil. Also if your pan is really old they sometimes dont work anymore and things will stick.
If you have any containers of heavy plastic (a common one is an empty coffee grounds container), you can pour it in there and then throw it out in the trash
@Reds no worries... I learned this from my Grandma,(RIP) she moved to LA in the 1930s when all the houses had cheap galvanized pipe. That stuff corrodes inside. Anyway, she used to take an old Folgers tin can and poor it in there, let it harden, then throw it away.
Nice im trying to learn some basic things now when im 15 still so that i dont have to find out this stuff later or have to have it premade I used this for some hamburger helper
you can use butter, ghee or lard if you want. should probably stay away from oil, but if you really like that oil feel, use coconut, since it has a high smoke point, perfect for pan frying.
This video is great for my teenagers one of them is only comfortable using the toaster😂 seriously no joke ... with this they can make tostadas, tacos, nachos, burritos, man the sky is the limit... lol
If you drained that grease into your sink and into the drain, you are clogging up your drain with fats and will be calling the plumber if you keep doing that. Instead, set the meat to the SIDE of your frying pan and use paper towels to blot it up, and throw those into the trash can.
What my parents do is scoop the meat to one side of the pan and tilt the pan on the stove a bit to let the oil go on the other side of the pan :) then they just throw it outside or in the trash :0
I keep it on high the whole time. The time can change depending on your stove but it should not take longer then 15 minutes. If you want to be sure use a thermometer and cook till its 165. But once its nice and brown you should be good to go !
@@whowhatwherewhenhowto159 accidentally put way too much water but I seasoned after it was drained. Luckily the tacos held in a ton of moister well not having a horribly watered down season broth! Thanks for the help!
1. NEVER EVER pour fat/grease down the drain! Either soak it up in a paper towel or pour into old container for reuse or disposal. 2. Fat is NOT unhealthy as previously thought in 1960s-2000s. 3. If you are having to dump oil from ground beef, then you're not cooking it long enough as I can see at the end of video. Ground beef should be dark brown over 80% of it, the rest medium brown. It's mostly water mixing with the oil making it seem like it's a ton of oil but it just hasn't burned off yet. 4. There should be very little fat/grease remaining in pan when finished, if cooked properly. 5. Cook uncovered on medium heat, if it's splatters out the pan than turn down to medium low or until it doesn't. 6. Add seasoning in last few minutes of cooking.

Most of it is grease and some is water too
In what temp should I leave it to evaporate
You are batshit crazy it's all fat it needs to be strained after water is added prevents things such as congestive heart failure etc

Yes you should not be doing what I did it will over time clog the pipes. I forgot while making the video
So you can dump grease in garbage disposal side? Because that’s what I’ve been doing.
Also, where can I get that strainer?

Add water right ? Thank you though!!
A little confused here. Before you added the meat. Did you add oil to the pan? Or just add meat and no oil?
How long did it take you to cook
Are you Canadian?
If you drained that grease into your sink and into the drain, you are clogging up your drain with fats and will be calling the plumber if you keep doing that. Instead, set the meat to the SIDE of your frying pan and use paper towels to blot it up, and throw those into the trash can.

Did you add oil or did it cook in its own Grease?
For real bruh, he didn't say sxit...
No oil is needed because the beef has its own fat.
No oil needed because the beef has its own oil as you cook it
Do you put water in it?or do u just dump it in and put it on high?

At 0:30 seconds. What oil does one use to start the process?
There’s no need for oil as long as you keep the beef moving right?
No but butter adds taste and works like ool
Yes no need for oil as the beef is fatty and has a lot of oil. Thats what I drain at the end
Sure you can add anything you like
