I just want to say that while watching all of your videos they are extremely vivid and elucidate everything so wonderfully and clearly. Even though this is an informative and factual class, your imagery when describing everything is so beautiful and really does give me more of an idea of what you mean (especially when describing rococo bucolic scenes---bountifulness, at the peak of beauty, etc.). These videos are terrific and I appreciate what you do so much, down to every detail that you put into the videos. Thank you :-)

is the painting Helen Recognizing Telemachus by Jean-Jacques Lagrenée also neoclassical art?

Based on the subject matter of the painting and the time it was painted, it is safe to say that Helen Recognizing Telemachus would fall under the category of Neoclassical art, yes! Notice the compositional similarities in this painting to the Oath of the Horatii (David): the use of somewhat stiff looking figures, linear perspective, Classical architecture, and a stable, balanced composition.

I love Jean-Jacque Lagrenée. I had considered him more in the Rococo line. Though a more Neoclassical version of Boucher. Lagrenée quickly became my favorite painter of the Rococo era.

Not to nitpick, but it's pretty important to point out that Pompeii is south of Naples, not "in Rome." A different culture entirely. Just to clear that up.

😂 just remember if you forget what rococo is it is just a regency revolution that got out of hand.😂
