My Razelcliffe arrived from Amazon in great shape: blade dead-on centered, open and close action and detent good out of the box and getting better with use, no side to side or up/down blade play whatsoever and lock up was solid. Small knife and have to be careful with figuring out your grip on deployment or you can get a knife bite like I did. I added a 550 snake-knotted paracord attached to the butt of the pocket clip that effectively gives me a four-fingered grip. With its short length and kind of a slippery grip, would recommend providing for a lanyard. Good for light utility work at a very decent price.
I'm buying this tomorrow. I got given a super-cheap folder by a friend, and it's been really helpful in my pocket at work with boxes. And then I started at a new retail store which needed some cosmetic work, and found myself using the knife to scrape bits of paint off the front windows. That front edge is right up my alley.
So glad to hear that they didn't whiff on this one too. I still wish I'd grabbed a stubby pocket razel (the fixed one) when they were making them, though.
It doesn't look like the "chisel" has a chisel grind. With a beveled edge on both sides aren't you just as likely to damage the area you are trying to clean off?
Dude, could you imagine a Reate-made production lineup of Graham designs? Think of it... M390, around $200-300, non-imaginary QC, actually in freakin' stock....
Got my Razelcliffe little more then six months ago. It didn't open that well so I decided to take it apart to see if I could I could improve the action I had some problems getting it apart but I eventually got it apart, I found a Teflon washer in addition to the IKBS on one side I contacted CRKT I sent the disassembled knife back to them, in about a month they sent me a Razelcliffe that I easily disassembled there was no Teflon washer just IKBS it had decent action. I've been using it since then, at this time it has side to side and up and down blade play and you need to give it some wrist to open it with the flipper tab. I'm thinking of sending it back but I don't know if it's worth even with all of its flaws I still use it for scraping and other utility tasks.
Love this knife. That said it’s worth noting I’m a clumsy guy and I currently have two marks on my palm after accidentally having my hand in the way of the chisel portion of the blade as it opened. It’s not a reflection of the knife, just my gross incompetence in moments. I carry it daily even though I got “bit”
I bought one as soon as they were in stock, really wish CRKT would use a tail clip. Other than that it is pretty faithful to the customs/midtechs I have.
I am pretty sure that this is ileagal in many places... here in Switzerland any knife with a partially sharpened spine is ileagal to buy or own... Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!
I fell in love with Kershaw Kryo, because of how it felt. I believe it was made out of all steel, so that's what made it feel so beefy for a smaller EDC knife. I loved how it flipped as well, and just the overall reliable feel of it being made completely out of of steel? Correct me if I'm wrong but it has to be steel because the weight? You would think aluminium it would be much lighter if it was. I loved the clay color too, lol.
@@bullridermusic2054 Yes most models are made of stainless steel just finished differently. There is also a model with a partial G-10 (or fancy plastic) scale on one side.
I have all the CRKT Razel models but this one. What's your take on the "carbon fiber" handle model. I've been through 2 of them and the action is non existent. The others have been great. Have you had the same problem?
Hey, I really want to get my hands on a custom Razel, or at least mid tech if that’s an option. From Graham knives, does he still make them? I can’t find any for sale anywhere
I've been turned off by steel framelocks since the Esee Zancudo came (and went) from my life. I think I'd rather have a Cold Steel Tuff Lite. But it looks like it is about time for another inexpensive knives tournament! Are you up for it Nick?
I have one of these and I love it, but you need to be careful how you deploy it or the little bugger will nip you in the meat of your thumb as the blade shoots out.
I think what John Graham may be worried about is CRKT producing a high end Graham knife for around $250 that will compete directly with his "midtechs" in the $500 range which are USA made. If CRKT did one of those, there's a good chance it'd be just as good, if not better than his latest Razel GT in that $500 price range
8Cr18 stainless gets a lot of hate. It's a perfectly serviceable steel for knives in the under fifty bucks category. Even 3Cr13 isn't a fantastic steel, but it's serviceable for a budget knife. If you want premium steel, you'll easily pay hundreds of dollars.
I don't consider myself a steel snob. I keep myself somewhat informed on steel composition so that I know if something is worth the cash I'm putting out. I don't recommend spending less than $4 on a knife. Avoid generic terms like "stainless steel" or "carbon steel" which tell you nothing about the material. Some metals labeled like that are unhardenable and unsharpenable. If you pay triple digits for a 3Cr13 or 8Cr18 MoV blade there had better be something special about the handle, like pearl scales, gold inlay, etc. That's not being a snob, it's being an informed consumer.
@@conductorcammon they make the one that Nick featured in this video. It’s ass. I won it in an online raffle. I want them to make this exact model, larger, with titanium scales and better Steele
Hey! I just got one for Christmas. It’s small but I like it a lot. I’m used to assisted opening, and this isn’t, so it takes some getting used to. But I love the looks.
@@jasonanderson5564 well, after watching the rest of the video, I think I have one that just doesn’t open well. I thought it was because it didn’t have assisted opening, but it may be I just have a bad one. A little wrist flip and it opens fine though. Still like the knife.
So part of making Xocy happy involved smashing alcohol all over its face... And even though it looked less sad on the outside, it was still souless and dead on the inside =(. Those knives, so much like us... Pretty happy with the razelcliffe. If I hold mine just right it makes a really nice thing sound on closing.
What? Why would they assist that knife? That was really one of the great things about that knife. On bearings that large end heavy blade just flies out of the handle like a dream. I still have mine. Sadly I wanted to, but I just couldn't love it because of that freaking stupid tip down pocket clip. I even tried carrying it with a lanyard tail up, in my back pocket. But how does that work with a wallet in the pocket? It really was a great design, and the ergonomics on the handle just fit perfect it my hand. But like so many of their great designs they had to go stupid and put a tip down clip. If they want to release it again, why don't they fix the clip?
@@MrRoboto1963 I agree with all your points. I think the only upgrade to the knife is the scales. Sometimes the aluminum gets slippery. Yep, it doesn't need the assist, it's smooth and flips with authority. The tip down doesn't make sense except that you don't touch it with your hand when holding the knife.
Thank you as always for the insightful and entertaining video! Really appreciate a gem in the economy price range. Great gift to help expand the community.

For these types of small knives, I love the Kershaw Ember. Basically a mini Kershaw Cryo (2" blade)
