Hey, love the tests, always helps people like me who cant test ride skis!
Will this disappoint me on piste coming from a ranger 102 fr? looking for similar performance while beeing a little wider and maybe allowing me to play around a bit more? thanks!

You will be disappointed if you are expecting similar performance on-piste. Maybe stay within the Ranger line and check out the 108 first? Also Salomon QST 106 and K2 Mindbender 106 C are worth a look. Have fun!

Oh, and I see you added the Blade Optic 104, that's a good one too!

@@SkiEssentials im curious, the line sakana has intrigued me for a while. now i gather that sakana doesnt like to go very fast on piste. i think i could tolerate that. i used to race slalom skis, so i enjoy a shorter carving ski. do you think sakana could work for me?

@@lekr99 It's amazing because it's 105 mm underfoot but likes to make slalom-shaped turns. You can let it run, but don't expect it to adhere to the short radius when it's over 25 or so.

    Hi,
Thanks a lot for the review. Trying to make a hard decision between these and the ARV 106. I currently have a pair of ARVs at home, they feel quite stiff, wondering if I should go with these ones instead. For all mountain use. I'm tall, quite heavy but experienced skier. I prefer softer skis, because of easier control.

You will find more flexibility and playfulness with the Prodigy over the 106. If you're looking for that softer ski and easier control, I'd go Faction. In this range, there's also the Volkl Revolt 104 that's worth a look.

Im looking between these with line sakana and the new candide BC 111. How are the characteristics between them? Im advanced intermediate skier that skis in an area with more snowfall but i ski a good mix of on and off trail.

The Sakana is the outlier here as it doesn't really have a good comparison. Between Candide and Prodigy, we're seeing more similarities in terms of build and shape. The Faction is a bit more directional with more camber and a sturdier and quieter feel to it. Candide feels lighter and more mobile with better flotation. If you are mixing on and off-trail, the Prodigy will have more upside for you as a skier.

Hi, I’m thinking between this, Atomic bent 100 and Armada arv 100. At the moment i own a pair of 181cm Elan Ripsticks 96 and would like to get something a bit more playfull. I would still like to do some carving on the piste. I’m 6’0 and 75kg so i was also wondering what lenght I should go for?

If you want to keep some type of carving in the mix, the ARV 100 is your best bet. I'd go with the 179 in that ski. Have fun!

Hi, I'm thinking between this an the Qst 106. I'm 5 '7', 170, and currently have a nordica enforcer 94 at 172. I love the enforcers, but a bit tough to maneuver them around on a deeper day - looking to complement this with a mid-100s range for big mountain - a lighter, more playful freerride powder ski with more splay and tip/tail rocker than enforcer, however can still rip on edge. Easy to rip in trees, manueverable, easy to turn and floats. What would you recommend between the two skis, and at what len
gth? Would also be open to any other recommendations!

From a lot of research I have done I would go with automic bent 100

In the mid-100's, the QST 106 is a no-brainer. It's so incredibly easy to turn in softer and deeper snow, even though it's not that much lighter than the Enforcer. I'd also check out, within Enforcer since you like the shape, the 104 Unlimited--light and floaty with good energy, all while not losing out on the Nordica feel/shape styles. Prodigy 3 is fine--nothing really sticks out about it that makes me recommend it over a QST or an Unlimited. Feels like a lower energy wide twin tip.

I’m thinking of getting these I’m 5’ 8” 120lbs would the 172 or the 178 work better. I’m an advanced/expert skier and mainly do freeride

I think the 172 is a better length for your stats and application.

    I'm 5 10 Should I choose the 172 or 178? I'm a all mountain skier

I'd go 178 in that ski based on your stats and application.

I‘m 6,4 do you think the 1,90 in the prodigy is too short?

    • @SkiEssentials

No I'd say that's a proper length for your height.
