Would this ski make a good all-mountain ski that can carve (groomers, and really steep stuff) that can also go in the park? Also, how would this prodigy 2 compare to the prodigy 1? Which one would better suit my need?
I think the 2 has more versatility and upside, especially if you're looking for all-mountain use including some softer snow. It's not bad in the park, but that's where the narrower 1 makes good sense. If park is secondary, I'd go with the 2.
Hi @SkiEssentials . I'm a quite big guy, around 185 cm and 100 kg (6'1" and 220 lbs) and been skiing on the Rossignol Sky 7 HD which I feel is a bit too soft. I don't do much freestyle tricks but like playfyl riding with jumping and afternoon bumpy groomers and riding in the woods. Do you think these could suit me or would I need a stiffer ski. Still prefer playness over the super fast speeds.
I think if you prefer playfulness over stability at speed, the Prodigy will hold up just fine. Even without freestyle specific skiing, you will find a lot to like about this ski.
hello, do you recommend the faction prodigy 1, prodigy 2 or armada edollo for grooming, a little off-piste and a little park? I would like a ski that's a bit freestyle but that really handles the slopes and speeds well? thank you
The Prodigy 2 makes a lot of sense here--it's probably the most freeride-oriented of these twins. Still great in the park but definitely opens up all-mountain skiing as well.
Very torn between the armada Arv 94 or these factions I ski east coast and trails are rarely groomed however I do want to get better at park and I ride around 25% park 75% all mountain. Please help or leave any other suggestions I live on the east coast (PA) I also like to go as fast as possible 😅 I understand these are conflicting but I can only buy one ski. Thanks
I like the energy of the ARV over the Faction, which I find to be on the damp side--I personally prefer a peppier ski in this range. You may get better high speed performance and confidence in the Faction, but not as good in park, bumps, or shorter groomer turns. Head Oblivion 94 and Black Crows Camox are two other great choices in this zone.
How do these compare to the Revolts 95? I have a pair of Revolts now but they are a little too flexy and i have a hard time holding an edge on the steeper runs especially on the hard pack. Will the Prodigy perform better on groomers than the Revolts (stability/dampness/edge hold)? I would say I'm 65-70% on trail and the rest in the trees and park.
There isn't much of an improvement in Prodigy when it comes to groomer performance. If you're in the mid-90's and looking for that next level, check out the Black Crows Camox, Armada ARV 94, and K2 Poacher. These skis still maintain their freestyle chops while adding more beef to the groomers and hard pack surfaces and carved turns.
I’m looking for a ski that is light and playful but can handle groomers because I live on the east coast. I like to hit small jumps and side hits but not big on the park so I’m looking for an all mountain ski that can do it all. Should I go for the prodigy 2 or the bent 90 or bent 100?
Hey Skiessentials! I was wondering how these skis compare to Atomic's Bent 100s off piste and on groomers? Do they carve as well and do they ski bumps well? Thank you!
The Prodigy is a bit heftier of a ski with a sturdier overall feel. This makes them a bit better at carving, but they aren't as quick or mobile when it comes to softer snow, bumps, and trees. Bent 100 excels in these zones.
The Prodigy has more dramatic splay in the tips and tails making it more amenable to park skiing and other creative avenues. The Bent is more like a directional twin that also is playful, but the camber profile and splay leans more to the all-mountain side of the spectrum. If you have park aspirations, I find the Prodigy to be a better choice. Durability-wise, we have not found the Factions to hold up that well, but it could be that the main user of these skis is a bit harder on them.
I'm 5'9" 160lbs. I'm an advanced/expert skier. I spend half my time in the park and the other half freeriding. Would you recommend the 171cm or the 177cm?
Hello, I ski at a smaller resort in mi and I am wondering what would be ideal and necessary, I mainly ski park because that is big at my resort but I do enjoy skiing trees, and all mnt. I think the prodigy two seems better for what I want but I am wondering if it is necessary and if I would be fine with the prodigy 1
Where is the majority of your time actually spent? If you are in softer snow, then the 2 may be a better choice, but if the reality is that you're in park, and not skiing in deeper snow, the 1 likely lines up better with that application.
Sure, it is a bit more park-focused, but that's fine. I'd also say the Armada ARV 94, Black Crows Camox, and K2 Poacher also fit this bill, leaning a bit more to the all-mountain side of the spectrum.
There's more energy and pep to the ARV 100 over the Prodigy, which I find to be softer and more flexible. The ARV is quicker and more agile, and a lot of park skiers prefer this to the more meandering Prodigy. ARV also has more of a modern taper shape for park skiing and softer snow.
hello, im looking for a ski which is more oriented for on pist but also can handle of pist sessions and also can go in the park. 50% pist 30% of pist and 20% park. Is the prodigy 2 an good option for me? i also have my eyes on bent 90s?
While the Prodigy and Bent are more freeride-oriented skis, they still do just fine on-piste while also handling park and off-piste zones. The Bent is lighter and more flexible overall while the Prodigy has some more oomph in the underfoot zone for better carving power.
Certainly for more freestyle influence, the closer to the center will provide more balance, but it depends how much of that style of skiing you're doing. I find the middle line on the ski works great for mixing styles and applications.
which ski would you think is better for about 40 percent park and 60 percent groomers, and the occasional off piste , the armarda arv94,arv100 or the faction progidy 2. i am stuck on which one to buy
I think there's a bit more performance in the ARV, especially in terms of energy and pop. The Prodigy and the Bent are more slarvy and smeary vs. the more zesty ARV's.
It's a better park ski than it is all-mountain. If you're looking for a more versatile ski in the mid-90's you could go with something like the Salomon QST 98, Fischer Ranger 96, or the Line Blade Optic 96--all of these have some sort of turned up tail for park while keeping the performance at a very high level. I'm concerned Prodigy won't satisfy your on-trail carving needs.
The M-Free is livelier and more energetic than the Prodigy, which is versatile and well-rounded, but I kind of found non-descript in its character. You can do a whole lot with the Prodigy, but to me it doesn't feel like as polished or poppy of a product.
Im having doubts between the prodogy 2 and 3 i mostly ski groomers now with my carves but i want to get more into all mountain. I will still be using it for groomers a lot so wich one do you think will be better?
I like to stand on the ski with my boots on and see what looks good--that's usually a good indicator of how a ski's tips and tails look from that particular point of view. I don't think -2 is too far back, while center is kind of specific.
The Prodigy has a longer camber profile and less taper, making it more precise when not in trees or in deeper snow. There's not a whole lot better out there in the woods and powder than the QST 98 at this width. Prodigy is more creative and allows for more of a freestyle mentality, but it doesn't quite feel as sturdy or predictable as the QST.
@@SkiEssentials totally disagree. Prodigy 2 is much more sturdy and predictable than the 98. The extreme rocker in the tips and tails of the qst 98 make for a floppy ski that doesn’t inspire confidence on piste. Prodigy 2 is a phenomenal ski that does everything well.
The Rustler has more power and stability to it while the Prodigy is more wiggly. In soft snow if you're looking for more of a playful option, the Prodigy certainly has its upsides but for more aggressive skiing, and especially if you're looking for more edge grip and responsiveness on firmer snow, the Rustler is a better option.
Hello, I have a question. Which ski should I choose? The Völkl revolt 96 or the Faction prodigy 2. I'm mostly on and off the slope. Sometimes in the park too. Thank you
I like the consistency and sturdy feel of the Revolt--I think there's better energy here than in the Prodigy, but they're both very capable and playful skis.

I think the 90 makes good sense for east coast stuff that you're looking to do. Nice and light with some good turning capabilities.
Hey guys what do you think would be better for all mountain stuff.. trees & bumps. These or the ARV 96?
I personally prefer the ARV to the Faction due to the energy and smoothness. I just like how the Armada turns and sounds a bit more.
How do these compare to the bent 100? Also How is the long term durability of the Prodigy?
The Prodigy has more dramatic splay in the tips and tails making it more amenable to park skiing and other creative avenues. The Bent is more like a directional twin that also is playful, but the camber profile and splay leans more to the all-mountain side of the spectrum. I'd go 177 if you're reasonably aggressive and enjoy stability at speed.

@@SkiEssentialswhat side of the all mountain aspect to these lean more towards?
When comparing to an arv 100 how would you compare the swing weight, flex and park performance despite the directional side cut?
There's more energy and pep to the ARV 100 over the Prodigy, which I find to be softer and more flexible. The ARV is quicker and more agile, and a lot of park skiers prefer this to the more meandering Prodigy. ARV also has more of a modern taper shape for park skiing and softer snow.
Would this ski be good for a light person around 135 lbs
Yup! No issues here!
@ ok thank ypu

Hellou , where should you mount the bindings ?? Progressive or something like -3cm from the true center

I'd say the ARV 94 is a very solid choice here--great energy and rebound, and a slightly sturdier feel than the 100 or the Prodigy.
@@SkiEssentials ok thanks
im 175cm and 60kg what size should I get? and I'm an intermediate skier but more to the beginner side
I'd go 171 in this ski based on your stats and application.
Would you recommend this or ARV 94 or Bent 90. For 50% groomes/ and 30/20 for off pist and park

is the tails on the prodigy 2 stiffer, as seen in more directional skis?
They feel pretty flexible to me, and that's a lot to do with the tail splay as well. If it were flatter and more directional, it'd be about mid-stiff.
Im having doubts between the prodogy 2 and 3 i mostly ski groomers now with my carves but i want to get more into all mountain. I will still be using it for groomers a lot so wich one do you think will be better?
Prodigy 2, the prodigy 3 is more focused on freeride I think, since you ski mostly on groomers the prodigy 2s are the better choice in my opinion
Unless you know you prefer wider skis on groomers, the 2 will have more upside and torsional stiffness when it comes to mainly groomer skiing.
Hi team, where do you recommend to mount faction prodigy 2.0 for a more park-focused purposes? True center -1 cm or -2 cm or maybe -1.5cm?
I like to stand on the ski with my boots on and see what looks good--that's usually a good indicator of how a ski's tips and tails look from that particular point of view. I don't think -2 is too far back, while center is kind of specific.
I can't really test the Prodigy where I am, however I am very familiar with the QST lineup. How would you say these compare to the qst 98's?? Thanks!
