Chet, your existing pressure tank appears to be approximately 80-90 gallons. Depending on the settings on the pressure switch (20/40, 30/50 or 40/60 psi), that size tank only has about 19-26 gallons of drawdown (useable water). If your well pump will be pumping 45-50 gpm, it will only run for about 30 seconds and shut-off with that existing tank. It's better for these pumps if they run for longer periods of time with fewer cycle starts. You may want to look into adding more pressure tanks to decrease the cycling of the well pump. As a retired public water system inspector, I saw many people having to replace well pumps frequently due to the short cycling of the pump due to undersized pressure tanks.

Excellent video Chet. Nice job as always Erik explaining spray work. Brodie ..”Let’s wash it”..😊 I need Brodie at my place for a week. This channel far exceeds anything on television. 🎉
A lot got done today. and it was all interesting. One thing Chet, when air hammering hydraulic fittings, it may be safer it use flat punches rather than pointed punches. achieves the same results. Thanks for filming anyway. That field box is a really useful piece of kit for the combine and love it's location.
Nice video guys. I really enjoyed touring the farm and talking with you Chet, Erik, and Broodie a couple weeks ago when I was out there in Minnesota to celebrate the passing of my grandmother. She was one sweet lady.
You guys need a set of crows feet wrenches. They slide over the fitting and turn with a socket and extension. They have thin walls like a box end wrench with a piece missing. Btw Dougo needs a vacation.
I ran one of the hdd boring rigs for over 20 yrs and to tell ya the truth some of what we were able to do still impressed myself over the yrs. I also hope they pulled in a tracer line just in case for locating purposes. Yes they can use the electric service to locate out the lines. But always good to have a back up.
Thanks for an interesting video Chet. Lots of interesting water lines being installed in the water tank for spraying water and a bigger line into the shop for the cleaning bay and electrical lines to run all of the pumps and all that. Wow. Lots of water works. Like that tool box you put on the combine. That is really handy setup Brody. Neat idea. Always busy type work on the farm. Thanks for everything Chet. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Chet. You guys need to get yourself a crowsfoot wrench set or flarenut crowsfoot set. I Use them every day working on hydraulic lines on aircraft in the Air Force. It will save you a ton in the long run so you can put that air hammer away.
540 loader is great for compacting. I use to do the top 2 ft of a trench with loader and bucket full of dirt. I could easily pass compaction test, with the right moisture of course.
Your auto path probably isn’t working because you are hooked up to a non-John Deere rate controller on your sprayer. I just heard about that problem a few days ago and I think I will have the same problem this fall. Raven may have a software patch next year. The older JD 2000 rate controllers will work though. Oddly enough, Ravin made them for Deere.
Yes but it’s cool I understand they gotta get some money for the effort they put in making these videos and they get paid if we watch that part or not lol
They probably did, but you should check that's a curb stop and waste valve for the shut off at the tank. They act like a hydrant and drain the down stream line when closed
Bigger well pump you might want a larger pressure tank for the low use times. When we put our 5hp 50 gal per minute pump we had to add pressure tanks because the start and stops would break the pump shafts
Being a auto tech for 48 years you can't beat using a air hammer to loosen and tighten fittings that are impossible to get a wrench on works great right!
That is one tight place to work replacing o rings on hoses it’s a pain in touché .Part’s our not cheap very high dollar any more. Wow Brody is getting nice stuff on his combine . Brody don’t forget the toilet paper 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂and paper towel to keep windows clean on inside of cab.
Chet, what do you guys do to make it more safe when working around hydraulics. The planter is lifted up when working under it, the combine head is lifted up hydraulically when working on it, the payloader is lifted up and worked on. Do the hydraulic cylinders have lockouts?
Chet, Dougo and mom crying 😢 no more Dodge Ram trucks, Chrysler and Jeeps deepest sadness 😢😢😢😢😢😢. Once again great video keep up good work from old our gang 😅😅😅😅.
I work on garage doors as my job, we started putting blue loctite on all set screws because they are loosening so fast. Don’t have any call backs that way
I recently learned that loctite's expiration date is actually pretty important, it loses a lot of strength after its expired. Get small containers of loctite and toss them when they expire instead of getting a big bottle and keeping it for many years.
Yes, I like the Vice grips idea if there is enough room,..,not sure about the space above the nut. Wish I was there to see all of this, long way from Vancouver Wa.
We'll have to ask Dougo, he will know: if Brodie was hired long after the Big Swede, why does Brodie the new guy, get all the nice and new stuff? Whenever one of my grandkids tells me they want to see something funny, educational, real world, and adventerous - I just find a Larson Farms video! Best ever for all age groups.
You should cover that with rock dust (that’s what we call it in this area) before you cover that. That way when you dig it again, you see the gray rock dust and stop.
My question is, when you turn off the underground valve by the frac tank, how will you drain or winterize that blue line coming up out of the ground? 🤷♂️🤔🤷♂️
I very seldom make comments but I needed to here. I'm an industrial mechanic of 38 years. I admire your doing most of your own work on everything you can. But the hydraulic issues? Hold up. I don't really recommend using an air chisel on fittings. Maybe if you're removing and discarding the hose or fittings but never to install. Crows feet wrenches are made for hydraulics. Metric and standard sets. Your destroyed O- rings. Improper installation and size. By wrong size I mean too thick , like the one you had that was partially smashed. Different types of o rings for high heat , chemicals etc.. Hoses ? If they're stiff as a board when you remove them and you bend them? I would suggest replacing them, if possible. Installing o-rings need a lubricant like o-ring lube or Vaseline. Yes Vaseline is fine. And all of your fittings should be able to be threaded on by hand for the first few turns at least. Preferably 90% of the way would be ideal. My advice is just a tip of the iceberg, hydraulics can be very complex live and learn. Cleanliness is also key around open hydraulic systems. I suggest always cleaning thoroughly the area where the work is going to take place -first- then dry. Then if you are having problems pinpointing the leak just fire it up and run your hydraulic system. Follow the oil to it's highest point. Works every time. Hope this helps a little. I have some questions for you but I'll save for another post. Have a great day.

Next time throw some caution tape in the hole 4-6 inches above the piping. No more guessing how close you are when you dig it up again.
If they use the metal tape they can detect it's location as well

Its called an underground shut off. They are great for that kind of setup. We pit them in for stock tanks in the corral.
