After the car park you enter Lady Spencer's Walk, named after Lady Margaret Georgiana Spencer, mother of Georgiana Cavendish. Lady Spencer was the wife of the 1st Earl Spencer of Althrop (from whom Diana, Princess of Wales descended). Her daughter, Georgiana, lived at Hardwick as the wife of the 5th Duke of Devonshire.
I’m excited to see this. I was lucky enough to visit in October, on the last afternoon before I flew home to the US. It’s not a place I could have easily gotten to on my own, so I hadn’t known anything about it, but was so grateful to friends from Sheffield who suggested it. Late in the afternoon, I had the gardens to myself. It was magical.
Fascinating. Thank you. We look forward to visiting the house and grounds this year.

Hi Mary, we travel from Wiltshire to Yorkshire a couple of times a year. Last year we came across Hardwick and found that it is a perfect halfway place to stop. We love it and it is officially our stretch the legs stop. Thanks for the great vlog. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.xxx

A lovely change from the traditional local building style. The glass would make it less warm in winter, I guess, but perhaps not that much as the blockwork in traditionally built houses would be cold.
The exterior Christmas decorations could have been better, with that fantastic backdrop. Sprays of lights cascading down from the balustrades etc. They need to take some lessons from the Italians...

Maybe I'm behind the times or whatever does anybody know what is going on with Mary I haven't had a RUclips video from her for quite some time now and I hope she's okay I know she struggles with my health problems and then on top of that she's trying to do this yoga thing and get it kicked off so she never said anything about just dropping her RUclips channel ?????
