We have travelled with Princess for twelve years and done 17 cruises with two booked. I have early onset dementia so being somewhere ’familiar’ is a plus. We are both retired due to injury and my disease of dementia so finances have a cutoff… which means we can’t afford any ‘extras’ at all… but we do love to cruise with Princess.. blessings, John
Lots of great info. We have never cruised with Princess and would love to. Do they ever offer $50 deposits? I have only seen specials with a $99 deposit. I'm curious since it appears the lower price is a non-refundable price. Thanks.
Princess usually prices it at $99 and it's usually fully refundable. Sometimes they'll do a $1 deposit sale, usually around Black Friday. Hope that helps!
I have two cruises booked, which I have not paid for in full and I have booked specially restaurants for all seven nights on each, and I have not been charged.
@MarkOPolo456 Let me know your secret because it is charging me every time I go in to book one of them and after the 3rd call into Princess, that's what they said.
@nickwood2225 Are you on the new Princess Premier plan or the old one? Plus doesn't come with Specialty Dining, so I can't actually test what you are saying for my next couple of cruises. Like I said in the video, Princess is a little vague on the requirements to book.
@@nickwood2225 I booked thru the app. Before I upgraded to the new Premiere, I got charged after I booked three. The 1st on embarkation day was free and then the next two were not charged because we had the old Premiere plan. When I booked the 4th one I was charged so I cancelled it and then upgraded to the new Premier. I then booked the remaining 4 and was not charged.
My wife and I aren't heavy drinkers. These days, three beers will put me to sleep. Sometimes, I'll have a beer after work or an old fashioned in the evening. My wife will have a glass of wine or a Bloody Mary in the evening. On the weekend, I might grab an Americano and get my wife a chi tea latte. That's about it. Since Princess doesn't carry Buffalo Trace, I'd swap a 24K Gold Margarita in lieu of the old fashioned ever other night. So, if we upped our game to the max for specialty coffees & teas and alcohol, my wife's bill would come to about $16 per day, while mine would be $29, including gratuities. So, for the two of us on a 7 day cruise, we'd spend $315 for drinks and $224 for crew appreciation (Oceanview cabin). Since we're not "special," WIFI would cost us the full $350 for 7 days, which we refuse to pay while on vacation. So, our total out of pocket cruise expenses would be about $540. The Princess Plus package would cost us $840, a difference of $300. We'd much rather spend that $300 on excursions than feeling obligated to sit in a noisy nightclub, consuming alcohol that we've already paid for.
After thousands of views over several versions of the Princess Plus vs. Premier videos I've done, you are the first person to really break it down in the comments. Excellent! This is the kind of math that people need to honestly do for themselves to decide if packages are worth it. Only you know this information, not the cruise line and not a travel agent. I'll bet you don't feel any pressure to buy a package because you know that the math is sound and you're saving money. A great example! Thanks for watching and for commenting. Andrew

Good advice. Thanks.

If you have purchased plus or premiere, your cruise must be paid in full before booking specialty restaurants. You will be charged up until then.

@@TidalHorizons I would show you the spreadsheet, but that would be overkill. &^)
