Leveling your truck especially with a double cab will shift some of your weight to the rear of the truck balancing out your ride . Trucks tend to bounce or buck in the back when empty and will even dribble on washboard surfaces. Shifting some weight to the back helps reduce this and makes the truck feel more planted on dirt roads without breaking the bank . Also the 5100s are available separately so if you do blow one out or damage it you can get away with just replacing the damaged unit if their not that worn . Replacing in pairs is always recommended but it depends on how much money you have and again how old the shocks are.
5100’s won’t disappoint. Moved front from 4th to 5th setting no ride difference IMO. Wouldn’t change a thing great budget lift. Great video. 🤘🏻

I've been doing light crawling and some 3/4 trails.. Couldn't be happier! Well I could but that's be several grand more.. Lol (3"kings or something)

Went with them after months of reach mainly this video gave me the push too do so and went thru stage 3 website because they had the cheapest price for same quality product that’s marked up on so many other pages
Just installed these on my 22 tacoma trd sport I have the front set on the 4th groove and it lifted it 2 inches and the rear I only have the 5100 shocks. I love the ride and looks so much better. Now I'm putting on bf goodrich trail terrain ta's should be a nice set up for the light off road trails I go on

Whats the distance from the bottom of the wheel wells to the center of the rim? I added 5100 up front to myb2017 tacoma trd sport and set the shocks to the lowest position. My truck sits rather high. It seem like a bigger gap than your truck.

Not lifting the rear saves you from having to use shims and go through the nightmare of dealing with drive-train angles being different causing vibrations

Thank you for the video excellent information. I own a 2023 Tacoma SR5 v6 4x4 and I want to install the B8 5100 front and rear. Was thinking about the 4th clip front 1.5 and adding a 1 inch spacer in the rear. What do you think about this setup?

Contrary to popular belief, I can't actually "feel" lift height. I did however say that I "think" we were at 1.50" which seems to have been a solid estimate.

How are you able to change the drl on your headlight to amber and white. I thought the alpha rex only come in white drl only.
My morimoto xbs do this. I drive an sr5 so my drl is tied into blinker line
With this exact lift do you have to reset your TSS so you don't get error messages?
Shouldn’t need to. I lifted mine 2” front and 1.5” rear with no issues with the TSS. I even have my grille logo blacked out with vinyl and it’s unaffected!
Noah great video..please tell us the model for example Toyota tacoma SR/SR5/OFF-ROAD or 4 x 2 or 4 x 4 or 2.7liter /3.5liter... maybe it doesn't matter?
Thanks Legion! The truck we have here is a 2018 SR 4x4 with the 3.5L, but this kit should work on any Tacoma from 2016-2022. I believe Bilstein also has a version of the 5100s for the 2005-2015 Tacoma.

@@jacobw1993 no I have a 06 tundra and I am running 33’s and it rubs a little bit when you fully turn the wheel but it won’t affect anything long term. You should be good!

If u had to go a step up for comfortability which kit would u recommend?

Which ride do you prefer the Tacoma or the Stage 3 Ranger?
It's a little tough to compare the two since the Ranger is running a Fox 2.5 kit which is a much more off road focused system than the Bilsteins. The Fox kit allows the Ranger to push higher speeds and it eats up bigger ruts and bumps more nicely, but at lower speeds the Taco keeps up just fine and goes all the same places the Ranger does.
What setting would I need for a 2nd gen Tacoma in order to level the truck ?
With factory springs bumping it up one will make the vehicle level. A factor to consider is if your putting stuff on the tacoma with notable weight its position will change things.
How do you feel about doing this same setup on a 4 cylinder Tacoma? But maybe with a lighter tire like a C load or standard load. Is it worth it?
Love it on mine, however it took a little over 6k miles to really soften up. I have OME medium duty springs and an a ikon AAL in the back.

@@vr812 no, not sluggish at all. If anything it helped with handling. I’m 20k miles in and it feels awesome.
What is the largest size tire you can run without any cutting?
275 70 17 will be the largest without issues.

How about a kit to replace the c channel frame with a real frame? Or another kit to replace drum brakes with disc brakes? Or another kit to replace the plastic box with a metal one? Endless possibilities!
I'd argue that those features are what makes the Tacoma more capable and dependable off road than most other mid size trucks, but it all depends on your lifestyle. If you want better towing and hauling capability then those traits obviously wouldn't be a benefit.
@@NoahStage3 a c channel frame, disc brakes, non union assembly labor and a plastic box are all about building this truck cheap, not reliability.
@@jakp8777 I’ve worked at a union plant it sucked to many lazy people saying that ain’t in my job description. Drum brakes last forever the front brakes do 70% of the stopping on all new vehicles. Plastic bed is actually pretty nice and they have been around long enough to prove dependable. Tacomas are made Texas proud!!

Every single review I have read or watched states that Eibach is more comfortable on-road and equal with Bilstein off-road. This includes individuals on RUclips who are not paid for their opinions in some manner.
This includes comparisons with the Bilstein 6112 shocks, which are a big upgrade from the 5100s you are reviewing. So your opinion doesn't appear to be accurate when so many other opinions and reviews contradict you. Other reviewers state Eibach hands down is more comfortable on-road than Bilstein.
The Eibachs also have a lifetime warranty and a great reputation for backing their shocks. Bilstein, not so much.
Did you get drive shaft vibrations after installation?

I'd recommend sticking to the 4th since it'll ride a little nicer. Maxing out struts and coilovers tends to make the ride a bit bouncy in my experience. Hope that helps!

@@stage3motorsports Can't you add an AAL or spacer for 1" of lift in the rear? It says the rear shocks can accommodate 1" of lift.

If I try to use this kit with stock TRD Offroad coilovers at 2.5" of lift will it over-extend my coilovers?
This kit will work on TRD offroad package trucks, but not on TRD Pro trucks. It replaces the shocks themselves, but reuses the factory spring and top hat. You can run these Bilsteins at max height, but it would be best to upgrade your upper control arms if you do that. Also, I would not recommend combining it with any other type of leveling kit or spacer because that will eventually damage the truck. Hopefully that helps

@@Haclatt A diff drop kit may be a good idea at max height, but I don't know if it would be required. As for the rear, the Tacoma has a solid axle with leaf springs so there aren't any UCAs to worry about there.
