In payday 2 you shoot real weapons, because they feel real and powerful, in payday 3 they feel like airsoft weapons

They're definitely more realistic in 3, TBH I like that more, many sounds in 2 were overdriven/muddy pieces of shit. And the animations are way better. IMO they only need to up the dBs in 3.
Reloads are quite a bit worse imo compared to Payday 2, also gun sounds are considerably worse which is disappointing. Graphics are improved but animations overall feel much worse.

the art style/ direction also feels a bit more generic now. Payday 1 and 2 were somewhat realistic looking, but they had their share of unique material choices and color schemes. this just looks like a modern shooter now. the vibrant shines on the metal and wood of weapons, the bright blue of the gloves, it's gone now. the environments and materials do look better in many ways, just generic.
It seems like losing so much of the old developers over the past years, who formed machine games and later other veterans formed 10 chambers, simon viklund was the guy who did all the sound design and music for payday 1/2, and he's a core part of 10 chambers now.
I disagree about the reload animations being worse. In fact, I only saw a couple in this video that I could even try to make arguments for being worse. I also disagree about animations overall. I do, however, like the ‘style’ of weapon sounds in Payday 2. Not sure I’d be able to say one is better or not.

Payday 2's viewmodel animators (only ones I know the names of are Kopter and Niphen Niphen) left the company in/around 2017-2018. You could tell because in Payday 2 the animations for weapons released after that period all used recycled animations, or new animations that were noticeably worse. Whoever's animating the weapons now has improved a lot since then, though.
I like almost all of the payday 3 reloads a lot, except for he new AK, that looks garbage 💀💀💀
in PayDay 2 the sound is metal, and in PayDay 3 the sound is plastic, as if all the weapons have silencers, as if they were toy

Also, in payday 2 the damage is very weak and awful, but in payday 3 the damage of the gums are pretty good, I really don't get why both games can't have both good damage and good weapon sounds yk

Not fan of Payday games, but 2nd part really has better animations and sounds.. yet in 3rd devs finally added +1 round in the chamber and much better ammo count on HUD. (total ammo changes only after reload)
Honestly the ammo counter changing per round fired, imo, worked really well with Payday's gameplay loop as then you didnt have to reload to have ammo missing from your pool meaning you can replenish it via ammo boxes that cops drop much faster. Definitely helped bunches with LMGs

To be honest, Payday 2 is really more goofy and cartoonist than PD3. From the masks to the skills and stuff. You should give PD2 a try cuz it's good game you know.

They made all the weapons in payday 3 seem way too casual, like you weren't in an intense situation. The incredible lack of recoil also makes the guns feel weak as hell by comparison.

TBH, PD2s animations also don’t display intensity in a situation at all. They are very casual and methodical. They are much more comparable to that of Insurgency Sandstorm’s than ones that actually display rush and tension, like Modern Warfare for example.
I like PD2s more still but I don’t understand this argument.

The charging handle only goes halfway back, literal cringe and low-IQ animators
We have gotten so far, now the ammo counter for ammo that isnt in the magazine doesn't go down.
What I really like about the Payday 2 animations, minimal camera shake when reloading, that and it feels more realistic than the more "cartoonish" vibe from 3. Never played any of these games though, likely never will.

You can very clearly see the effect MW19's weapon animations took on the game lol, shame because Payday 2 had such smooth and unique animations.
Animator probably found an better place, starbreeze sucks at customer service, slowly they was making payday 2 cheaper and cheaper
3rd one is better at everything except sound, for some reason gunfire(only from players) got weirdly mixed to be low volume.

Also, AK model being so detailed makes the lack of drainage hole under handguard very hilarious.

I actually like Payday 3’s new take on reloads. Payday 2’s animations are definitely nice but they always felt kinda weightless and floaty.

Yeah, that’s a good point. While I might like the reloads better, I can agree that payday 3 lacks good powerful gun sounds.
I feel the opposite here. The handling at times feel airsoft-y to me in PD3. Especially with the AK and pistols. AK's mag just flies into the stratosphere and looks as if the charging handle only gets pulled halfway. There are others like the MP7 looks like it's carried like a machine pistol despite weighing like a PDW and it's inexplicably slapped like an MP5 when reloading.
It could be that they aren’t polished yet. Payday 3 is really buggy right now and so was Payday 2 at launch. Oh and a lot of games use air soft guns for reference but I don’t know if payday does as well.

Insurgency Sandstorm is on Unreal 4 and has one of the best soundscapes in my opinion

I went back and locked at the back for blood animations. The animations are definitely not of bad as that game.
Payday 2's guns feel more powerful and the sounds are more realistic, however in Payday 3 the reloading animations and ammo count are much better than Payday 2.
PD3 animations are mostly better (mostly, the AK one fucking sucks), but damn, PD2 has far better sounds and just the right amount of camera shake to make the guns feel beefy. They really need a big audio update as soon as possible in 3.
Animations from pd3 could use more screenshake. They just don't feel powerful.
I think people would complain if they added more screenshake, since that’s a common complaint with COD reloads. What I think they need is more urgency in the animation itself to add more life to it.

That has nothing to to with poor sound design. The Finals had their closed betas, and those were some of the best sounding guns in a video game I have ever heard.

Tf guys are you talking about, PAYDAY 3's grapchics are step backward from PD2. It has no style like PDTH (cinematographic) or PD2 (photorealistic) had.
Payday 2 at least has the advantage of being mostly animated by the same guy(s) through these, and have consistent pacing. Not too fast, very readable movement. Payday 3 is wildly inconsistent in its movements and speeds. Some guns are moderately paced, like the Signature 40. By immediate comparison, the Stryk is a bit fast, snappy and wild. Then you get whatever the name is for the AK, and oh god is that a mess of fast movements with no readability.
The sounds and animations in Payday 3 are pathetic compared to Payday 2.
