Build an On30 20' Excursion Car | Thunder Mesa Reimagined

- Time for the first build project from the new studio! Join me as I prototype a 20' excursion car for the On30 Thunder Mesa layout. Similar to the cars I built for the Gruesome Gulch layout a couple of years ago, this car uses an HO scale Roundhouse "Shorty" coach as a starting point. I'm pretty happy with the way this car urned out and will be building more of them for the reimagined Thunder Mesa layout in the future!
Thanks for watching, amigos!

It’s too bad that MDC Roundhouse kits are no longer available. Many of these kits found a home with me. They were inexpensive and readily lent themselves to kit bashing. The 30’ “old time” flat car became one of my favorite project cars. I needed some hi side gons so I started remaking the flat, worked great. Thanks for sharing this build with me.
I love that somebody else uses tacky glue as a final assembly glue. I primarily build model cars but tacky glue is how i hold the final model together, although I use liquid cement, epoxy and super glue for load-bearing assemblies.
Great first built in the new studio Dave. The excursion car looks great behind the engine 4 or 5 more will look even better. Thanks for sharing your skills and imagination with us.
GOD BLESS 🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕
Dave, I've always wondered if you would revisit the GG excursion cars. I was captivated when I first saw that video, and have been working up a version of my own. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hey, I was just wondering why you don't use metal wheels? Edit: You just answered it... KDs later literally seconds after😂
This is what keeps me investing time on RUclips in general and Thunder Mesa specifically: Dave's expertise and talent and creativity! Stellar in every facet!
You need to build a ranger station. Cool opportunity to explore some of the “parkitecture”
Great work Sir!
Love your videos.
Cheers from Canada

Nice to see some model builds again. The move was interesting but nowhere near as relaxing and satisfying as watching a build come together. Excursion car looks fantastic.
Amazing, the car looks incredible! I do not have the vision nor ability to come up with something like that, you are a true artist!
Nice break in of the new space! Looking forward to seeing the finished excursion train in the future!
Nice work in the new studio Dave. Thanks Peter from downunder.
Always good to see a build. Any content you post is worth watching.
You are such a talented modeler Dave and a huge inspiration to us all!
It’s nice to see you modeling again! You seem at home in your new space.
Dave, glad to see the creative juices are flowing in the new studio, can’t wait to see what you come up with next!!! Keep moving forward, my friend.
great work, can't wait to see more coming
Looks great, thank you.
It's always a pleasure!!!
Looks fantastic
good build 👍
So TMSR and TMMC are two companies under the same management, sounds like the D&RGW and RGS, let’s just hope that Thunder Mesa will keep a much better safety record.
I hope so!
