- Event replay of Anthony Ervin and Gary Hall Jr. touching the wall at the same time in the men's 50m freestyle at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
Both American swimmers were timed in 21.98 seconds. Pieter van den Hoogenband (NED), who won two gold medals earlier in the Games, was third.

Both Hall, Jr. and Ervin would win their own 50m free golds in 2004 and 2016 respectively and each by the same margin of victory, just .01 of a second.
Hoogie and Popov fishtailing like crazy. Popov's ill-advised dolphin finish nearly brings him to a stop and pull his head up and away from the wall.
Sometimes it comes down to the reach, glide, momentum in the end. Poor Gary, the Aussies detested him for a silly comment taken out of context of a largely complimentary interview.

What a race... Def does not get any more exciting than this. Feel for Popov though.
