The definition of marketing is: providing value for customers or potential customers. That's why my company hung 1,000 door hangers this morning also. No limit on when you should advertise... The early bird gets the worm.... Thousands of dollars worth of jobs stacked up already for the spring 😀
Hey it’s been a minute since we did a marketing video. I was feeling good this morning and had to share what we’re doing to grab new business already for 2019, and maybe even a little left out there for 2018! Be blessed 💪🤠
Really great definitions, Brian! Something every business should know. It is never too early to get your business on someone's mind. Keep up the great work.
Can you do a video on a “business timeline” or a breakdown of what each month looks like, in terms they type of work you do? For example, what months do fall-cleanups start? When do you officially start mowing for the season? Marketing? Thanks!
That was a perfect analogy if you plant corn in December it will be dead by the spring I am 13 and I farm with my dad a grandpa and I’m trying to get into the lawn and landscaping business thank you for all the tips hope I can come out strong in 2021 for my first year
Like the last call idea! I think it's a great idea to advertise what services you may provide and use it as a way to push more revenue to finish the year strong. The a little after the new year start advertising again and once more before the season kicks off. I think that's something I fail at right now is pushing sells. There's money to be made and it's up to use to make it!
Thanks for the info. I personally have gotten t-shirts and passed them out to my customers this past fall. Of course I wear one everyday when I am out mowing. Now I am not doing this as primary income, since I am getting a pension, but these helpful hints help me build what business that I already have and make it stronger.
ya done did it again Mr Brian!! great advice , only way to fail is to stop trying , so one of my former employers said many times since I struck out on my own .
I think per push is the best. However, if you have a slow winter and barely get any snow the seasonal price is better so you have the guaranteed income. So per push is good in my opinion if you have back to back snow storms.
Yo Brian! I just created my first batch of 2500 postcards to be printed and my next step is to begin going door to door in the neighborhoods i want to do business in here in Marietta GA. My question is: Do I have to provide some kind of postage in order to be able to leave them on peoples mailboxes? I know you are not allowed to put it in peoples mailboxes but am I allowed to put it outside of it?
Nice video and tips Brian, I do the half sheet of paper too that is the best way to get my business name out their! The second way is truck and trailer wrap! The third is a good website! I charge for snow per push if we only get 2 inches that is not worth their $324!
Its obvious you put a good amount of time and thought into your business strategies Brian! Thank you for the motivation and strategy ideas you bring to others with your videos! 🤙 In my experience the clients that call to inquire about snow plowing in July... have turned out to be great, long term clients! December is looking pretty thin for snow plowing here in coastal Maine , while 50 miles inland they are grooming snowmobile trails!
tried flyers 20 years ago and got one customer . Never tried again. Seems things have changed. New companies should definitely give it a shot especially at a cost of a nickel
The difficulty with advertising in winter to get ready for spring is......YOU know it makes sence and I know it makes sence but I find people switch off and don't think about the garden until spring arrives and it's a fight for work then 👍👍
I've done flyers and they worked in the old days but in recent years I get a lot of people call and complain about a flyer on their door. With online reviews today, it's not worth the risk imo
My little part-time garden business has closed down for the year now the rain has been so heavy so windy customers just don't want their gardens churned up and muddy the messed up because the damage you do now winter is obvious in the summer say tractor tracks
Do you shovel sidewalk for residential? I have about 80 driveways and do sidewalks. Everyone says....driveway and I want my sidewalk done. If I didn’t do sidewalks and shovel in front of garage the number may be cut in half
325 per season? In Michigan? Switch your prices to per inch. You won’t be disappointed. Don’t do any snow removal by the hour or by the season. If you get 3 feet of snow you should be charging at least $200 per driveway. For a small one.
Changed my business like crazy when I switched to by the inch. I used to work like crazy in the snow for a measly couple grand. And by couple I mean like low 2’s maybe 3 in a blizzard. It wasn’t worth it for me.
aguyandhiscomputer you never had a blizzard? We have had 36 inches in a week in Pa before. We already had a small storm in Pa, it was just 8 inches of accumulation though.
aguyandhiscomputer just trying to help you buddy. Not trying to be a dick. I’ve grown my snow removal division to be quite profitable. Last year did around 90k in snow. This year should trump that. I’ve got huge plans for next year that I’m preparing for now. I don’t do many driveways though. Maybe 15 or so that are full maintenance customers. I’ve actually been trying to find someone to take on my driveways that’s dependable because we do so much commercial work that when we are done with it we are already spent. Then we go do driveways afterwards.
I need to work a few things up, but I think I'm going to start mowing lawns. My dad already drummed up business for me... 4 neighbors already asking me if I'll do it. $25/ mow times 4 lawns a week times 26-28 weeks= big $$$$$$ for me. Add cleanups and a couple other things..... it'll be fun!!!!! I'm ready to take on business.
Brian's Lawn Maintenance how many times does it usually snow in a season over there? If it snows more than 5 times it doesn't seem worth it especially if you salt too.
free enterprise !! , what said by security officer , Mr crews would you please stop putting your fliers out and leave , any other time we wouldn't mind so much but with the holidays near there's alot of deliveries , what I heard was come back after the holidays and we won't see you 😎.
grasshopper Crews generally what I’ve seen is HOA areas are just as legal. Don’t touch mailboxes and check local ordinances regarding No Soliciting signs and/or door to door soliciting permits. Other than that, security can pound it.
Quick question........Have you thought of getting the back blade for your rig? Hope you get tons of snow to the point you cant your eyes open!!! Make those dollars my friend!!!
We don’t do 18 visits per season, maybe 10. And we have pretty good route density, we do pass the savings down to our customers. Our prices are going up, but around here it’s $350-$450 a drive. Nothing much more than what I’m charging. Thanks
Brian's Lawn Maintenance if your just starting out can you have the post office pass out post cards to a targeted area? Sorry about the all the questions just trying to get things jumped started for myself
Might be coming at this from a out there angle but do you ever "stress test" your business? So essentially running all your financials and then factoring different loss models or projections to see how much downturn you can absorb and stay solvent? I've seen people make the mistake of living to a level with the expectation their current income will continue in perpetuity to then hit a prolonged downturn and have to sell off houses and cars etc. Keep the great content coming, just food for thought.
By the way great video today,,,, been doing lawn care for about 30 years now and my problem is amongst a few things the major thing is there's always Mexicans out there to do it cheaper and they say better and they will always cut your throat just to get the job,,, my other gripe is that I have tons and tons of customers but no one seems to want to pay me that's my other gripe
Great advice, a shame that a few bad apples ruined this style of marketing in Ontario. No longer legal to solicit anyone, anywhere at a door, or drop flyers.
That’s weird haha I noticed that too.. but they are there. They weren’t working on the last video either. Wonder if RUclips is tweaking something. They always mess crap up.
Soooooooooooo, you hit Bed Bath & Beyond, did you have time to make it to Home Depot??? Wait, you might be too young to get what I'm talking about(Frank da Tank!!). Dirty Jersey out!!!

I'm in the phone book, what's your thoughts on that.
i love how you are getting so much business in 2019 and 2020, and YOU decide which costumers you want.
Really great definitions, Brian! Something every business should know. It is never too early to get your business on someone's mind. Keep up the great work.
Im 19 in NY using your advice and its working phones been ringing awesome!
Sweet man
Can you do a video on a “business timeline” or a breakdown of what each month looks like, in terms they type of work you do? For example, what months do fall-cleanups

I feel if you watch the progression of our videos in a year, you can text the exact weeks we do mulch, flowers, pruning, overseeding, clean ups, etc!
Brian's Lawn Maintenance I’m seeing that now, as I continue watching. Thanks again for all the great info!
Love the video. Keep making great videos like this and also keeping making great videos about landscaping and snow removal.
Of course we will

Bad year in stl MO as well. Only 30 weeks of mowing this year. Glad to hear you made up in sales with cleanups.

Great idea 💡 Thanks man
Yup Keep your name on their minds!!! Just like all the My Pillow commercials! LOL
In West Michigan I stared doing clean ups 2 week of March this year.
Nice!
I think per push is the best. However, if you have a slow winter and barely get any snow the seasonal price is better so you have the guaranteed income. So per push is good in my opinion if you have back to back snow storms.
Awesome Marketing Video!!

We leave them on the flags, you cannot put them inside, correct.
What do u think of that milwaukee heated coat compared to your red one. I asked for the black one you have for Christmas
It’s really nice but way more lite duty than the red one.
Nice video and tips Brian, I do the half sheet of paper too that is the best way to get my business name out their! The second way is truck and trailer wrap! The third is a good website! I charge for snow per push if we only get 2 inches that is not worth their $324!

Brian the good thing about a Facebook page or Google Page as a Business Owner is people can do reviews on your business.
Totally! Reviews are very helpful
Thanks for the great video I appreciate it. 🙏
I love your business strategies.
The difficulty with advertising in winter to get ready for spring is......YOU know it makes sence and I know it makes sence but I find people switch off and don't think about the garden until spring arrives and it's a fight for work then 👍👍
Agreed! we're running into that as well. Time for the holidays, everyones mind has shifted gears.
I've done flyers and they worked in the old days but in recent years I get a lot of people call and complain about a flyer on their door. With online reviews today, it's not worth the risk imo
Great info my man!
Always be looking for NEW clients!Nice video.
100% agree if nobody knows you are out there how would they know to call you.

Do you shovel sidewalk for residential? I have about 80 driveways and do sidewalks. Everyone says....driveway and I want my sidewalk done. If I didn’t do sidewalks and shovel in front of garage the number may be cut in half
We do yup. Well we use snow blowers that is.

Nah I disagree. Where we live this works just fine. Maybe west side of that approach can work better, they get 3x the snow we do.
Changed my business like crazy when I switched to by the inch. I used to work like crazy in the snow for a measly couple grand. And by couple I mean like low 2’s maybe 3 in a blizzard. It wasn’t worth it for me.

Tried working today, didn’t even get far. First yard had snow covered leaves and the ones that were exposed, frozen to the ground.
How did you make the flyer you said you printed it off at Staples but where did you make to design
My brother made it for me in photoshop!
How often do you ''Bombard'' the subdivisions???
3-4x a year. Different services and different seasons
Where do you put the flyers in the sub divisions? You can’t touch their mailboxes can you
We put them on the flags

Brian when is your next vacation planned
Great advise question what type of video recording do you use?
Just our canon 80D
Thats a very nice and simple advertisement! Looks similar to a Word document
Hairston Property Management he used photoshop
^
If you get any snow customers from the flyers they could potentially turn into lawn customers.
Precisely
First year doin lawns. I’ve picked up about 10 new mow customers by doin their leaves this year.
@@brandonworth353 Good job, thats how its done
$325 a season? Some driveways I do are $200 per time lol.
Haha nice I wish
Brian's Lawn Maintenance how many times does it usually snow in a season over there? If it snows more than 5 times it doesn't seem worth it especially if you salt too.
Hey Brian , have you ever been asked to leave a subdivision for putting out fliers ? we had this twice in the past week 😐
Uhhhmmm. We’ve been told not to pass out there, but we still do. Until the local post office gets on our case, it’s game on
free enterprise !! , what said by security officer , Mr crews would you please stop putting your fliers out and leave , any other time we wouldn't mind so much but with the holidays near there's alot of deliveries , what I heard was come back after the holidays and we won't see you 😎.

Brian can I start late on lawn care like July???
No better time than the present buddy, get going as soon as you can is always my attitude
Quick question........Have you thought of getting the back blade for your rig? Hope you get tons of snow to the point you cant your eyes open!!! Make those dollars my friend!!!
I have but not lately just been too busy to think about it.
New intro Rocks.. 2 thumbs up... did knorr hook you up with that?
Thanks pal nah we got it done through Fiverr
How do you pay your bills doing residential driveways for $325 a season
Cause he has a bad ass truck and does it in like 4 min
@@Vanguardcredit still hardly any money in it at an average number of 18 visits per season to only make 18 dollars before expenses is ridiculous

Johnny Salazar does he drive the truck on the sidewalks?
Brian's Lawn Maintenance Do you only do seasonal for residential clients?
Did you read Gary's book, Crush it?
I listen to both his books every month
@@BriansLawnMaintenance I can tell.
What software did you use to make the flyer?
Photoshop
Where do you drop the flyers Brian?
Kyle Barrow on the flag or in the below cubby. Don’t place them inside if ya don’t know that yet 👊
Brian's Lawn Maintenance Awesome! Do you ever do door hangers or stick to mailbox flyers?
Kyle Barrow Nah just flyers and post cards
Brian's Lawn Maintenance if your just starting out can you have the post office pass out post cards to a targeted area? Sorry about the all the questions just trying to get things jumped started for myself

Nope but we live very below our means. Our bills are covered in 2 working days a month. Not worried about a thing. But great topic
14 inches of snow in N.C. lol
Lol crazy
Nice job brother! You still have to announce the 43K winner!
David Cook won!!
44,000 before you know it!
Oh gotcha. I didn’t know so I was just wondering.
Is it play it by “year” or “ear”? Lol
Lol

Yep same here man
Build. Your brand, nobody cares besides you. Get on their minds, get the word out, about your service. Why not now? Keep grinding!
