Interesting fact: the studio was required to offer the lead to Frank Sinatra due to the fact that he played John McClane in the 1968 movie The Detective. And therefore had to give him the option to play him in the sequel. Sinatra was 70 at the time and naturally turned out down.
The characters name was Joe Leland, they changed it so that it wouldn’t be a sequel and it’s a good thing they did. It’s funny to imagine Sinatra in this movie,I’m surprised there’s never been a parody about that. I guess it’s not that well known with the general public
You need to watch Denzel Washington in 'The Equalizer'. It has everything you are looking for in this Action Movie Genre. I actually prefer it it over even this 'Fantastic' movie.
Want a super Christmas themed action movie? - Violent Night has you covered 🎅 Some other action you might enjoy - The Last Boy Scout (also Bruce Willis), The Long Kiss Goodnight (Geena Davis & Sam Jackson, also Christmas time), and the Beverly Hills Cop series. You would also enjoy the Hollywood work of John Woo - Hard Target, Broken Arrow, Face/Off, and Paycheck
The book is similar, but different, In the novel John McLane isn't in his 30s. He's my age, mid 50s, and it's his daughter he's visitng, not his wife. He spends the whole novel basically trying to save her and the hostages from Hans & Crew. But it's got a lot grimmer tone. The terrorists are nastier. It's less fun.
title had me expecting the tearing up at John's "Tell her that she's the best thing that ever happened to a bum like me" confession rather than just the bit where the new besties see each other lol
I can't even guess how many times that I have watched both "Die Hard" & "Lethal Weapon", both ARE Christmas movies! Watching your reaction video just now, I made a discovery. 1. Karl/Alexander Godunov😇 also played in "The Money Pit" with Tom Hanks and "Witness" with non Indiana/Solo Harrison Ford. He had a very interesting story. 2. Robinson/Paul Gleason😇 seems to always play buttheads. I.e. "Trading Places" and "The Breakfast Club". 3. Another fun Willis movie that have similar events is "The Last Boy Scout". They drop more F-bombs that you can shake a stick at. Including a little girl. 4. He better have a place to crash after a night like that.😍😘😋 5. The dead body that fell was full of bullets Dumbass🙄🤬 6. YES, a Christmas movie. It takes place at a Christmas party. For anyone who says it could have taken place anywhere, I say it didn't. 7. Missing you Bruce.😪
Literally the entire premise of the movie is based in and around Christmas. It begins with Christmas music, it ends with Christmas music. There's multiple references to Christmas. The entire plot hinges on it being Christmas. IT'S A CHRISTMAS MOVIE.
The 2nd Die Hard movie was based on the book 58 Minutes. It's a good book, given to me by my stepfather, who insisted that I read it. He rarely did that, so I read the book.
@buddy3167 It’s a REACTION, bro.. she’s *supposed* to talk a lot. If you don’t want to hear it, switch to another video - or just go watch the actual movie On a personal note, it seems like you might be having a rough day. I get it, the holidays can be tough. But it’s unfair to take your frustrations out on a random internet stranger, especially just because they’re younger than you. Maybe go for a walk, have something to eat, or take a nap. Hurting others isn’t going to make you feel better 🫤
Another fun book to movie; Payback (1999). Mel Gibson, Lucy Liu. Witty Gritty crime movie. Also, am I the only one who in my older days thinks “the cop who killed learns to shoot people again” is kinda… errgh.
Die Hard is a Christmas Movie!!! - First Action Movie role for Bruce Willis, before this he played on a TV Comedy called "Moolighting" - First Hollywood Movie Role for Alan Rickman, He was nervous about playing a villian in his first movie being the villian, He almost turned down the role..... - Phrases "Yippie Ki Yi Ya" and "Happy Trails" come from songs Roy Rogers sang in his Movies/TV Show..... - For the "Drop scene" they told Alan they were gonna drop him (he was in a safety harness) on a counted number (I've heard both 3 & 5) and they dropped him early to get the shear panic reaction..... - I heard, the "Bill Clay" scene was added after they started shooting and found out how good Alan was with mimicing accents..... - Not hearing the sound of gunfire - 30 stories at 10 feet a story would be 300 feet in the air then add in the contruction Materials to deaden the sound.... - Not seeing the gunfire on roof of building, Building that tall have strobes and marker lights so aircraft don't run into them..... Spoiler Alert: Only Die Hard 1&2 happen at Christmas....... So can watch the others at any time....
A christmas movie to me must be all encompassing and capture the spirit of christmas. You cant just have a holiday party and some christmas songs and references and call it a christmas movie. But that is just me. Anyways, here is one you may enjoy. Not sure how it would do on your channel so maybe you can even watch it on your own off camera to make up for the lacking in die hard. Still close enough to christmas yet 😉 It is called the life and adventures of Santa Clause. (The O.G. stop motion one.) There are two films titled this in existence. One slightly newer with regular animation. The one i am talking about has wizards, pixies and orcs in it. Funny enough. So if you are a fan of lord of the rings, you may get a real kick out of this highly unique film i used to watch as a kid in the 80's & 90's. I think it holds up fairly well.
>Hans Gruber >portrayed by a British faking German accent >8:31 >the most stereotypical Russian accent ever haha I guess we from the continent all sound the same
Beethoven's Ode to Joy is no a Christmas song. It was part of his 9th symphony that he wrote when he was deaf. Lethal Weapon is almost as much a Christmas movie as Die Hard (just a bit less Christmasy). Definitely competition for DH. Preferences vary on which is better. All 4 movies are very good. The surprised look on Alan Rickman's face when he fell was indeed genuine as they did not warn him when they were going to drop him when they did. Terminator 1 & 2 are like horror movies (falls a bit short of true horror).. You'll like both of them.
John McTiernan the director of this movie also directed movies like Predator, Last Action Hero, Die Hard 3 and The 13th Warrior. Die Hard 3 is really good too, 2 is a good sequel. Last Action Hero with Arnold Schwarzenegger is a very funny action comedy parody about Hollywood and cinema. The 13th Warrior with Antonio Banderas is really good too, i can recommend watching it.

About the book: It was written in the 1960s. There was a first book before that which was made into a movie in the 60s with Frank Sinatra. So when the idea for Die Hard started going around, they wanted to get Frankie to re-do his character. Yeah, that would have been a totally different movie.
You could honestly skip Die Hard 2 and go straight to 3, Die Hard With A Vengeance. 3 is the best of the series. After that, consider Alien and Aliens, Terminator and T2, The Matrix, Total Recall, and of course Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Pretty okay reaction. Anyway, since you went on a rant around the 10:55 minute mark ---- as a friendly FYI, when the police call-center operator told him that "This is a secure channel reserved for emergency calls only, and that he should call 911", she was telling him that he reached via walkie-talkie to the police/emergency system services that is ONLY used by authorized emergency personnel who contact that service via walkie-talkies. It is not a system for civilians. Civilians use a telephone to call 911. So, she thought that he was just another prankster who got his hands on a walkie-talkie and was reaching out to the emergency-personnel-only system as a prank. This was a common thing, and still is even today. That's what that scene was about.

Hmm, if you're looking for good action movies with interesting villians I'd recommend "Point Break" with Keanu Reeves. And while you're on a Keanu kick why not go for the Matrix too? lol
Part of 3 was filmed at a site in Goose Creek, SC where I had built 3 classes of Naval submarines for General Dynamics. A friend who worked behind the scenes gave me a souvenir from the dump truck beds.
Cool facts this was Allen Rickmans first movie role ever. And his reaction at the end was real as director had stunt people drop him on 2 instead of 3....and the little daughter is played by the actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead in her first movie role as well

It "snows" money bonds. it takes place on Christmas eve and is about a family reunion. There're a sleigh ride (helicopter shenanigans) above rooftops, with the FBI (Santa) gleefully promising gifts! At 20:49, He ACTUALLY KNEW, from the cigarets One of the first things he tells the cop outside is that they're all rocking mostly European labels and cigs. When John lights his cig, he knows..
Out of classical music, I'd consider Beethoven's 9th Symphony ("Ode to Joy"), Handel's "Messiah," Schubert's "Ave Maria," and Vivaldi's "Winter" (from The Four Seasons) to be Christmas music.
"That's not a Christmas song, is it?"
It's actually Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th symphony, 'Ode to Joy.'
"It's Christmas Theo... It's a time for miracles..."
Absolutely a Christmas movie. RIP to Alan Rickman.
