The tour guide should have told the group of the rules...glad to see the Guard finally yelled. Tour guide should be restricted from their group getting pictures of the Horse Guard for 3 month or until they learn to explain the rules.

The disrespect is rampant throughout the world not just at Whitehall. The guards used to shout at the offending tourists all the time. They’ve given up. Tourists are relentless.
I don't know what the guard said to that dopey looking family, and I'm glad he was using his voice, but it sure didn't seem to register with them. Putting your kid on a bollard that could go down at any time, isn't the brightest thing to do either.
There has to to be TWO do not touch signs. One each side of the sentry box, and mounted higher on the wall. Where many people stand tends to obscure the signs. Overall though, the situation since the signs were installed, behaviour has improved.
What are the police doing?? Officer 4433 is not helping the guards as they make their way to and from the boxes!! Get those idiots to move!! Officer 1015 would clear them. She is a no-nonsense officer!

I don't think you can blame the tourist too much, people have always stroked the horses and we can't expect a foreigner to understand all the signs. It's a double edged sword, tourist irrespective of nationality have been encouraged to visit London which includes the Guards, if anything I think for the safety of everyone it would be wise to mark a non-crossable line on the ground or barrier to stop people getting so close.
