Both phones have made compromises in the camera departments which is hugely disappointing to me. Xiaomi including the 2x telephoto (down from a 8mp 5x periscope) is STUPID because when you have a high 50mp main sensor cropping to 2x digital is just as good, and it will probably use the main sensor for zoom at night anyway! Exactly, seems all about buzz words and in the end these phones seem to be worse than the previous generation. I could care less if a phone gets a million in Antutu. A fast enough for every day tasks cpu with good camera and lenses is all that I am looking for, and something that works. If these super spec phones can't even record without dropping frames, jitter then there is no need to advertise them as being able to record 4K 60fps and being 'flagship'. A boat with a sail? ;-) . And as you say it they push towards the Ultra and Pro plus as being magical while they will probably push the price up by 200 euro's or more. For that 200 euro you can buy a mainstream phone that can also record 1080P and do everything else with. It will probably cost them like 20 euro in extra parts and we will all fall for it.
Who buys a mobile PHONE for its CAMERA quality? If you care about quality then you would already own a decent camera. Its like buying a phone and not being happy with its audio output because it doesn't have a dedicated DAC

Its sad to see xiaomi went down so fast, I've been a xiaomi fan boy 2 years ago but man their devices became so buggy I just couldn't recommend them anymore, it seem like they lost their touch, thankfully samsung took the crown with updates & One UI
mmmm audio, ok so listening through youtube, and so on, but I agree with the quality does sound better on the Xiaomi. For qualcomm oef, and also not to mention Xiaomi and it;s scrolling through google play, that is just weird! And Xiaomi needs to work on their thermals!
These 2 phones feel like they've been rushed. Some things look like they're unfinished, especially in the camera department. We're talking about flagships but looks at some pictures, it doesn't seem to
Android 12 just seems to be slower on most phones, at least from what I've seen. Google needs to do another Project Butter. Edit: The stuttering OS combined with the Snapdragon 810... I mean 8 Gen 1, makes 2022 a year to hold on to your old phones. I'm telling everybody I know not to upgrade this year.
Great that you're calling it honest and helping the consumer. They're both pretty average and certainly not worth the upgrade. Was reading that more people are keeping their phone for 3 years. You're not going to pay the price to change for such moderate changes
Sterling work as always mate. Really surprised with the Xiaomi and it's stutters (appreciate this can be resolved with updates). Appreciate the work you put into this, great job 👏👏
I will definitely not going to upgrade my Mi 10 this year. That Xiaomi 12 is definitely a lot powerful but my Mi 10 is still good enough and might be more reliable.
Not a rant by any means. Just a look as objective as it gets with the tech reviews. Thank you. P.S. Big boys? Well, you're pretty big yourself now but you still hold your position. That is something.
I think up to this point Xiaomi became the new Samsung from years ago (the one with TouchWiz), launching a lot of smartphones with minimal differences and a poor optimized software, they're loosing the same fan base who made them so popular outside China (the tech enthusiasts) I've seen that more and more people (including myself) is not recommending Xiaomi phones, basically the same who said years ago to all their family and friends "buy a Xiaomi"
OH yes those terrible Touchwiz ways of the old Samsung. They are loosing the fan base I used to be a big fan but recently it's too much. All of these releases and the software MIUI13 so far is worse than MIUI12. Always when we get the new MIUI and Android version a lot of issues arise. Then need to slow down and go back to what made them the Xiaomi we use to love.
Yes. I really can't understand why Xiaomi placed the punch hole camera in the middle. The Mi 10 and the Mi 11 both had it on the right. Only Redmi/Cheaper Mi phones had it in the middle most of the time.
Thanks Chris for the genuine review. Completely agree with your views. Both device feels unpolished, specially disappointed with OnePlus with the Oppo merger thing. Current rocking the OP 7T Pro 💯 satisfied with it won't be changing it any time soon. Thanks again.
@@Techtablets Hey your reviews are detailed, BUT I wish you would compare such flagships with older flagships too, Like the OP 7 Pro etc, Because a larger audience change their phones every 2-3yrs, very few actually upgrade in a year. For me going from a 90hz screen to 120hz sounds exciting, I do 0 Gaming. But a lot of social media stuff. So as a work phone I feel this would do great and wont have thermal throttling, Since work apps arent that taxing on the cpu. You should do a test with 0 gaming, Just social media, RUclips, Small editing apps etc.
7:43 I'm sorry but that's a little bit misleading, I think. OnePlus 10 Pro is only launched in China as of now so it is on ColorOS 12, global units will launch with OxygenOS 12, and yes, with the merged codebase.
@@Techtablets yes actually an XDA article wrote so that OnePlus has confirmed it will run OxygenOS 12 on global units, but what's funny is that because of the code merge, I have a OnePlus 8 and I can just switch to ColorOS with an OTA update, and switch back to OOS with another OTA, it's honestly funny to be able to try out different skins with just a single update.
Chris, you are doing some of the best reviews out there. I am not a flagship buyer myself, rather mid-range. I'm interested in flagships in order to anticipate what will trickle down to the mid-range. I have a Poco F2 Pro and really don't see why I should 'upgrade' my phone. The only thing is that my next phone should be slimmer and lighter (something like the Mi 11 lite). Other than that I look forward to upgrade my laptop at the end of the year with the new Intel and AMD chipsets and brighter screens. But the phone market offers no enthusiasm this year.
Thanks.. Worth every minute.. I'd waiting long time for these phones to launch..they both start with good phone.. I'll still keep my opo and rn still using poco f1 with no issues, guess need to wait a bit longer for an upgrade..sad
Was watching your videos on and off as yt is recommending them to me, but after this one I subbed. I wish the big tech reviewers would take the same direction as you.
super true! thank you so much for you hard work and for your honest reviews! Every time I enjoy it and actually bought Xiaomi 10Tpro right after I've seen your take on it back in nov 2020- never regretted! :) and enjoying since then (it's decent, not perfect, but very much decent)
Thanks for the honest review ! If a phone does throttles while trying to use it's upgraded Chips and could not keep up with Demanding Games, it is not an upgrade at all!
happy to hear your honest opinion, keep it up, some reviewers are saying the 8gen1 sucks others are saying exactly what you mentioned... that's great and fantastic bla bla crap
I feel like they’re trying to go the “Apple” way, but leaving out what Apple does best: 5+ years of major OS updates, camera stability, and a great performance overall (among other things). Samsung is doing it the right way, for example. It would be ok to have incremental updates if they made the OS super stable, fluid cameras, and choosing the right chipset to not fry an egg with your phone… but nah. Fantastic video as always Chris, I totally agree with you and imo the criticism you give is totally justified.
OnePlus promised 4 years of support for their high-end devices (from OnePlus 8 Series on). I think both OEM brands and Qualcomm should look at themself and improve. About the chip, I read that Qualcomm wants to release a 8 Gen 1+ chip made by TMSC instead of Samsung (for better efficiency).
Thank you for the true and honest review Chris, i really had been waiting for this. And you are right, "neither" is the answer… I'm running out of buying options here haha
I fully agree with your verdict. I liked xioami's devices but now? Too many of them and they're booooooring. Oneplus is great, but after Carl Pei left the company they've lost "that something" and with Nord they no longer target their devices to geeks ;)
I admire that you bring honest reviews to your videos based on your opinion and from your own money . Admire The fact that you tell the truth (without minimize others good ones mobile RUclipsrs too) , but that factor stands out and can be twisted this days but you choose to say No. I do believe the doubts about those two phones are solved now. Thumbs up and keep up the great work broda.
Thx for the honest review!! Can you please do an honest review of the Iqoo900 and real me gt2pro? And maybe compare them with these two? The new motorolas also look promising. Thx in advance and keep up the good work.
The more I learn about the new Xiaomi flagships. The more disappointed I get. Sure qualcomm's new SoC is kinda meh. But the fact that the OnePlus even finished the test here also does to show that they at least took the Snapdragon's thermals into account while designing the phone.
Great video! And so clear, no mincing words! I have a OnePlus 7T and these 2 were the only upgrade options left for me 😃 Well, the Oppo Find X5 hasn't arrived here yet... so maybe a little hope there. The Pixel doesn't have Macro or Ultra Wide, The S22 Ultra well, less said the better though the camera on both those is excellent. You've ruled out these 2 and that processor, so ? Prices are up like never before, so... Is this a really bad time to buy a phone?
Pretty disappointing that this is the state of Android flagships in 2022. Things used to be exciting because every year, there would be some big innovation driving the market. We were expecting under display cameras in 2020-21 and yet we’re still seeing holes in the display along with the usual crappy video camera performance Androids are known for. Def agree that these OEMs have basically been releasing the same exact phone for the past 3 years
Yes, I see the Apple haters trolling iPhone reviews and I wonder what is really innovative in the Android world excluding the very niche foldable demographic that remains too expensive for 99% of consumers? The S22 will be pretty much the S20 and so on with all the OEMs. That is where we are, apex of smartphone candy bar tech and the massive growth and innovation now plateaus as it has with laptops and tablets. Get use to it as I really cannot think of too much we can add to drive smartphone innovation.
Loadz of appreciation from India for your unbiased, hard-on-facts review of flagship models. Brands which made their names in the past for offering value for money products have as you perfectly summed up become complacent.
For some reason I really do trust this guy when it comes to reviews . It's just different that everyone else . When I want to get a proper opinion that's the channel of choice for me 100% . Now a quick question what phone are you using as your main phone and how often go you change your phone ?
Hi, I use a Huawei Mate X2 70% of the time and also an iPhone 13 Pro Max. But I'm waiting on the Xperia 1 IV from Sony and that will be my new phone. I change phones about twice a year. But use many other phones during the year that I review. So my main phones aren't always in use as I would be testing other units out for my reviews.

Still rocking my oneplus 6T and can´t find even one reason to change it to any new phone. The problem with these new flagships is that they just are not worth the money. If you compare new 1000$ phone to something in the 300-500$ range most people won´t even notice any difference in everyday use.

Great that you're calling it honest and helping the consumer. They're both pretty average and certainly not worth the upgrade. Was reading that more people are keeping their phone for 3 years. You're not going to pay the price to change for such moderate changes
2023 hopefully will be a better year
Sterling work as always mate. Really surprised with the Xiaomi and it's stutters (appreciate this can be resolved with updates).
Appreciate the work you put into this, great job 👏👏
Thanks for watching! Yes they have some work to do with the software, well both of them are a mess in their current state.
@TechTablets So, 9 months later, price changed in November sales etc. - do you feel any different today?
I will definitely not going to upgrade my Mi 10 this year. That Xiaomi 12 is definitely a lot powerful but my Mi 10 is still good enough and might be more reliable.
Yeah no need.
Excellent review Chris. What needs to be said, has to be said, ranting or not ;-)
Not a rant by any means.
Honesty, that's why we appreciate you, Chris. Thank you!
I agree on the chip. I would also add that Xiaomi 11 and OnePlus 9 were better looking phones based on design as well.
They were better on release and are better I feel now
Yes. I really can't understand why Xiaomi placed the punch hole camera in the middle. The Mi 10 and the Mi 11 both had it on the right. Only Redmi/Cheaper Mi phones had it in the middle most of the time.
I sent one to India and it worked fine, bought it from My World Phone
Respect for your honest valuable opinion, thank you!
Loved your rant ! Keep em coming !
Thanks Chris for the genuine review. Completely agree with your views. Both device feels unpolished, specially disappointed with OnePlus with the Oppo merger thing. Current rocking the OP 7T Pro 💯 satisfied with it won't be changing it any time soon. Thanks again.
Thanks for sharing
Me 2 still very happy with my 7TPRO 😄
2018/19 was peak for phone flagships and then decline and 2020/21 was peak for budget/midrange phones. 2022 sucks for all. My honest opinion.
7:43 I'm sorry but that's a little bit misleading, I think. OnePlus 10 Pro is only launched in China as of now so it is on ColorOS 12, global units will launch with OxygenOS 12, and yes, with the merged codebase.
Okay I was under the impression it was going for good replaced by colourOS? I guess those websites all feed us a lie then? They fooled me…
@@Techtablets yes actually an XDA article wrote so that OnePlus has confirmed it will run OxygenOS 12 on global units, but what's funny is that because of the code merge, I have a OnePlus 8 and I can just switch to ColorOS with an OTA update, and switch back to OOS with another OTA, it's honestly funny to be able to try out different skins with just a single update.
What is clone display in OP10 at 2:03?
Thanks.. Worth every minute.. I'd waiting long time for these phones to launch..they both start with good phone.. I'll still keep my opo and rn still using poco f1 with no issues, guess need to wait a bit longer for an upgrade..sad
Great review. Pls does anyone have any idea of the name of the app he uses for his batter test🙏🙏🏾
This video is more honest then some of the youtubers apology keep up the good work mate .
Was watching your videos on and off as yt is recommending them to me, but after this one I subbed. I wish the big tech reviewers would take the same direction as you.
High quality review with a truthfulness and knowledge you won't find everywhere . Just found this channel and subscribed right away. Thanks!
again thanx for a very informative and unbiazed review. still got my Xiaomi Mi 10 pro T. pretty happy with that one after the few updates.
I have been using xiaomi 12 pro for past 10 months, i play pubg and genshin impact, i dont see any problem in its performance, the camera also good
Great video Chris 👌 Honest review as always, even if it is a bit of a rant 😉
Yea got a bit into a rant but it’s the sad state of thing now!
@@Techtablets Not blaming you at all. I am quite surpised how it looks atm. Defo I wasn't expecting that.
No compromise, excellent video
Really, always professional
super true! thank you so much for you hard work and for your honest reviews!
Exactly it’s not! The performance throttles so much it’s not better
Hello which mini pc do u recommend for vr gaming?
Thanks
happy to hear your honest opinion, keep it up, some reviewers are saying the 8gen1 sucks others are saying exactly what you mentioned... that's great and fantastic bla bla crap
what app was that on 14:09 that you use to monitor the battery health level?
@æ ohhhh ok thanks
So it's basically Samsung and Apple for you 😂.
Thank you for the true and honest review Chris, i really had been waiting for this. And you are right, "neither" is the answer… I'm running out of buying options here haha
well said at the end an honest review and rant lol!!! just as I thought!
I fully agree with your verdict. I liked xioami's devices but now? Too many of them and they're booooooring. Oneplus is great, but after Carl Pei left the company they've lost "that something" and with Nord they no longer target their devices to geeks ;)
Chris speaking the truth here. Appreciate the honesty sir.
I admire that you bring honest reviews to your videos based on your opinion and from your own money . Admire
The fact that you tell the truth (without minimize others good ones mobile RUclipsrs too) , but that factor stands out and can be twisted this days but you choose to say No. I do believe the doubts about those two phones are solved now. Thumbs up and keep up the great work broda.
Amazing honest review as always. It's funny to see the big bois crash and burn while chilling on my Redmi Note 10 pro with Snapdragon 732G lol
me too hahahaha I have the same device as you! I think the same
@@jose1992s same here 🤣
Brilliant honest review love it. Thanks very much. Completely agree with final verdict absolutely nothing tempting over a 2021 flagship.
Thx for the honest review!!
Can you please do an honest review of the Iqoo900 and real me gt2pro? And maybe compare them with these two?
The new motorolas also look promising.
Thx in advance and keep up the good work.
Well ...dc dimming can be turned on in Dev settings on 12pro and lag using gapps has been fixed on latest update of miui13
You're the best. Keep going with these good reviews.
🇸🇦
The rant, is aligned with my feel. It was well presented, thank you.
When will the OPPO tablet be released?
So from last year's phones would you recommend a oneplus 9 pro or the xiaomi 11tpro?
You are right as always
I Hope to see you test Motorola S30, its very cheap in aliexpress while SD 888 in that phone
EXCELLENT Chris, truth must be told!
@@Techtablets thanks for answering mate . I tried the x2 but I can't make it without google apps for work and workaround and not good enough yet . Have a nice weekend ;)
@@Techtablets just not decided yet if I should keep holding the s20 ultra in the hope that software updates will solve all the problems with lag that I've got and also this exinos model keeps overheating when I have it plugged in the car using maps and RUclips music playing in the background... So I got the OnePlus 10 pro to give it a try ...
Great, great and honest review. As some IT guys already pointed out. Let's see now another youtubers praising these phones so we know who's getting pay...
It's always quite easy to spot, well at least for me. The guys that always say everything is amazing and praising it etc.
One of the most honest review I have seen for the long time. Subscribed ❤️
Hi. Have you tested these with Android Auto? My 12 Pro just refuses to work while my older OnePlus Nord works flawlessly. Any thoughts?
The strategy here is that both brands are creating a bigger differentiation from their Pro versions and future Ultra/Pro Plus versions.
Great video btw! Cheers.
Very true!
I didn't see you toggling the limiter off on the OnePlus. Can you test with that toggle off?
Hi, hope you are doing well, i am very confused with OnePlus 9 pro (55k to me {45k INR})or OnePlus 9 rt (43k INR to me {34k INR}) in exchange with my current phone (9-10k INR value) with it please share your opinion in mostly overall which one is best, or should I wait or should I go with other brand or else, I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP IN IT, I HAD WATCH TONS OF VIDEOS COMPARISON AND NEW MODELS LAUNCHED I CAN'T DECIDE PLEASE HELP I DON'T WANT TO REGRET AFTER.
No one beat Huawei when it came to innovation.
You got a thumbs up and a new sub for this honest take. Looking forward to more!
i cant make up my mind...
i want either xiaomi 12 pro or oneplus 10 pro.
both are around the same price here.
i prefer the xiaomi currently, but the oneplus has a much better battery along with some other things like less overheating, good UI, etc.
any thoughts? is there another phone I should consider for the same price range? (don't care about camera at all)
Very honest review. Great work tech tablets
Still rocking my oneplus 6T and can´t find even one reason to change it to any new phone. The problem with these new flagships is that they just are not worth the money. If you compare new 1000$ phone to something in the 300-500$ range most people won´t even notice any difference in everyday use.
Thank you for making this video! I respect the work you do.
Chris, your brutal honesty is priceless 🤣 thanks mate 🙏 as always for a fantastic comparison. BTW, still on my 7T 8/256 with no plans to upgrade
Good to hear
man cannot praise your reviews enough mate! Keep it real out there mate!
Was thinking of picking up a m 11t pro.
What's people's thoughts? Specs seem good
Mine is working really good, I recommend it
Great honest detailed video!
Both very average "upgrades" indeed, especially the Xiaomi, I wouldn't bother with either of them. Such a good review, telling it how it is. I trust this channel so much more than the so called major channels
Man, Once In a while I just wanna see clam people rant on this stuff 😂. But you're still the gentleman. Great comparison though.
One of your best reviews ever, Chris! Keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do!
Hi Chris
Also the 108 Mp Sensor is missing ,used correctly in the Right light it take's an awesome picture ,Try Zooming in on a Shot taken Properly ,Image Clarity and Detail is Unmatched By Any Other Phone Except The Samsungs Equivalent 108Mp sensor Found Only in Their Ultra Series Phones.. No Reviewer has Mentioned this anywhere on You tube ,Can't understand why, Have You Noticed This?
Regards John
Very nice video comparison, interesting results. Thanks for your clean point of view 👍.
From the previous 2021 which one could you recommend?
Oneplus 9 Pro
Waiting for the dimensity 9000 flagships! Qualcomm is just like intel before Ryzen, complacent and barely offering any upgrades every generation
U did a fine job by giving a clear and detailed review most RUclipsrs are paid so it's no use looking at their videos
Thank you for the review. My Xiaomi 10T Pro needs to be replaced, can you recommend upgrading to Xiaomi 12 Pro? (Not a heavy user)
I've had my p20 pro for years, best phone I've ever owned. Looking at replacing it with one of these or maybe the pixel 6 pro. What would you recommend after having something so reliable?
Did you decide?
Nope! Bought a Google Pixel 6 Pro and sent it back 2days later. Very buggy
@@lucybellis965 i was thinking of getting a huawei p30 or p30 pro but they are a bit old.
@@jhellier The P20 pro for me is still performing excellently. The tech hasn't really improved much in phones over the last few years to notice a difference (in my opinion) .. you might get a better camera, 5G, or wireless charging. But of you're not fussed about gimmicks I wouldn't bother. Especially now I've tried a newer one
@@lucybellis965 hmm so p20 pro still viable in 2022?
Very helpful. Thank you. If Xiaomi were to offer the 4 year / 3 year support deal on the Mi 11 I would consider that over these. My 15 month old Poco F2 Pro has Google Play Services from 1 August 2021 so that's not good going forward, and I'm losing a lot of Google services connections on mobile data.
One Plus have always had appeal, but perhaps the Nord 2 is now their best device realistically unless the 9's price drop some more. (notice how I lost my logic halfway through this post) 🙄
Use Custom Rom
OMG I was eyeing to buy one of these phones. Thank you for the unbiased info. You saved me from wasting my money. Keep up the good work! Kudos!
