I can see why Xiaojun is a little upset when the company decided to drop the “De” from his name. His parents named him Dejun (德俊) which means virtue and handsome and he said “De” (virtue) is the most meaningful part of his name. Also Renjun’s name is beautiful too (仁俊 = kindness and handsome)
Yes! Especially in Guangdong where parents will go to fortune places for names or changes of names! I think the NCT Chinese members (maybe Korean members too) know because in a lot of lives or casual times they call him dejun instead of xiaojun. Taeyong during their MAW countdown live referred to him as wuli jun. (Update: Shotoro also calls him dejun hahha)

Actually nct dream wasn't on the initial projects of NCT. they should be based country's project. I guess because dreamies has solid album sales and concert that is why SM made them into fix group. Huge probability chenle and renjun should be added to wayV before. That is why dreamies have no full album.

no kidding 😂 I have a slight advantage than non-native speaker translators (believe it or not, some second-gen peeps aren’t native speakers) but it’s still a pain- I get faster the more I get the know the way they talk, like my ears adjust idk, yet sometimes I still have to rewind a single clip 10 times and then turn my head away from my laptop to finally get it. the longer you listen to them speak, the more it blends together, and the more you need to just forget about what you just heard and start fresh, so I’m over here looking at my ceiling like crazy person 💀

I’m starting to think the company should have just called him ‘Jun’ instead of Xiaojun if they wanted to go for the easy to pronounce angle. I can kinda understand where Xiaojun is coming form though, because most Chinese names have meaning and contain what the parents wish for their children.
i just notice many english speakers cant pronounce xiaojun, I speak Spanish and I always try to pronounce his name just as he pronounce it and is not that much difficult is just like try to copy a sound and learning mandarin
