I trust the taste testing of your wife videos, I’ve watched so many!! Seems like the dining room meals are more desirable than the buffet! I don’t like that a $7 fee is charged for a 2nd entree, but I would get extra appetizers and desserts!!! I’ve never heard of fried turkey on cruise menus before so I would definitely try that, along with any dishes with shrimp, all looked delicious!!!!! I’m a Veteran, and Margaritaville offer specials to sail, although I haven’t had the opportunity yet to take advantage of the offer. Looking forward to your video on the cost you’ll experience. Thanks for sharing 😇🛳️🛳️
Thank you very much Bee! 😊 And thanks for your service as well! 🫡 Yeah we didn't like the $7 fee as some of the portions were small on the mains as you saw, but yeah at least you could order multiple apps & desserts w/o extra $. That fried turkey was pretty unique, and they did a good job on those shrimp entrees as well! This cruise line has some good sounding upfront rates for certain dates, and it's definitely worth a try if you can get those $49 or $99 ones.
Another lovely review, you guys! To answer your question about the green sauce underneath the Lemon Crusted Salmon @14:56 I think that might be puréed celery? Chefs tend to use that a lot as an additional flavor, although I’ve never seen a dish that’s been swimming in it like this one. The desserts here looked okay. I’m probably more partial to the Espresso Cake (looks a lot like Opera Cake) than I would be to the Baked Florida. Gosh, I can’t believe they charge $25 for a New York Strip Steak! On most other lines you can get that complementary! And $25 for the two lobster tails is way too much. I know that charging extra for lobster tails is industry standard nowadays, but I still think lobster tails should be “baked” (if you will) into the cruise fare somehow, and should come as a complementary offering. Not everyone will opt for lobster, so it’s not like cruise lines would lose out on money. That salmon tartar definitely looks tempting. I loved the classic brownie that Joann had earlier in the video also. The Chocolate Cake @21:14 with the ganache icing, as well as the mango cheesecake just before it looked absolutely smashing. I’m bummed the buffet was such a disappointment. I’ve never seen any good reviews on Margaritaville in terms of their buffet. Apparently you’ve got to have pretty low standards to enjoy that. Very surprised to hear the MDR doesn’t do breakfast or lunch service. If the buffet is packed out or doesn’t look very appealing, the MDR is always my go-to for those meals. Overall, I’m pleasantly surprised with the dinner offerings available on this cruise line. I introduced a friend of mine to cruising a few years ago, and she’s become a Princess devotee. I have to say in terms of overall experience - especially the included food - I’m with her on that. Thanks for another great review you guys! ~Scott
Thanks Scott for such a detailed and insightful comment! 😊 Pretty sure you're right about that green sauce being celery purée! We agree about the pricing for the NY strip- $25 is silly as it's complimentary elsewhere (like the Holland America cruise we went on right after this one). Funny thing is that this Margaritaville cruise for us was more expensive per day vs the HAL. Margaritaville did have some good entrees overall, and for sure some of the desserts like the cheesecakes & chocolate cake were tasty. We weren't able to, but yeah if one can get this cruise for like $99 for 2 or 3 days per person upfront, it's a good value- just have to be aware that there are just a lot of extra upcharges the likes we've never seen before lol. Princess and the other mainstream lines definitely has much higher upfront cruise fare, but so much more are included.
Looks like Margaritaville has some good food options. I like how each cruise line has its own unique style of foods. Btw, I never knew there was a cruise line called Margaritaville until I discovered it on your channel.
Yeah the main dining dinners had their best complimentary offerings, though we wished they didn't charged $7 for the second main. We heard about Margaritaville cruise a couple years ago, but the reviews were not very good so we didn't consider them. They have a new owner apparently and seemed like they've improved, so we gave them a try. It's good to have more competition in the cruise industry for sure. Thanks for the comment! 😊
Happy to see you back, loved your review as always. I was wondering how you found the whole Margaritaville experience? I have heard things like run down and party ship?
Thank you very much Susan! 😊 We found the experience to be mixed, with food being below par vs the mainstream cruise lines. But yeah it surprisingly quiet and more like a traditional cruising experience otherwise. We'll be posting a review in the next few weeks.
Another good video. I enjoy your wife's commentary. She sure knows a lot about food and flavors of the world. She must be a good cook. And your son is growing up so quickly! Well, I guess they all do.😅
We’ve been thinking about trying Margaritaville, but as you said, they’re not as cheap as you think. I understand there’s LOTS of upcharges (such as the $7 for an extra entree whereas Carnival charges $5 for a third). Joanna seemed to enjoy everything from the MDR. Honestly i was expecting horrible third-rate nursing home slop. Seems like they save that for the buffet Thanks for your usual video excellence!
Thank you very much Brad! 😊 The MDR dinner entrees were pretty good overall, but some of the portions sizes were small. We didn't get those $99 rates (more like triple that per person), and some of the surprise charges like the $7 extra dish & especially the "Fuel Supplement" were befuddling. If it were $99/pp fare we wouldn't have minded as much 😁
Nice review. I have never heard of Margaritaville at Sea, which cruise line is this? I am glad you were describing the taste because the looks to me were not good lol. Another example of looks can be decieving. Thanks and take care.
Thank you very much Karen! 😊 Yeah many of the entrees tasted better than they looked. I forgot to mention how many of those plates were all scratched up, which doesn't exactly add to the visual appeal. This cruise line sails out of Palm Beach (about an hour drive from Fort Lauderdale) for short 2 and 3 night cruises, and also out of Tampa with a newer/larger ship for longer itineraries. They charge a lower upfront fare but we didn't like the hidden costs.
This cruise line is going for what cruising was years ago. More tropical music vibe and food. Looking forward to trying them in March. Thanks for the review. Glad to see all of you.
Thank you very much George! 😊 Yeah they have a good theme going with the brand for sure. Definitely room for improvement, but if one can get it for the $49/$99 fares it's certainly worth a try. Would love to hear what you think after your March cruise!

Still the best review on this ship’s food. Miles ahead!

We were on islander and next cruise is May. Fabulous experience 🎉

Very nice reviews as always- much appreciated.❤
Our pleasure- thank you very much for the comment! 🥰
Thanks for showing the gluten free options (or rather lack there of). You guys do a great job!
Thank you very much- glad it's helpful! 😊 Yeah they didn't have a very good selection of gluten-free items either.

Food looks good, need to try this ship.🐸🐸
Yeah they had some good dishes at the MDR dinner- certainly worth a try!

Surprised this ship has such great food. Good to know .
Yeah the main dining room offerings were pretty good, though the buffet was quite bad vs other cruise lines.
