I have a weirder idea: Make it able to fire multiple fists like the Chain Guillotines with violent Knockback and speed, make it blast shrapnel like the Stynger on impact. Stynger buff: Triple it's fire rate. Staff of Earth buff: Make the boulders explode into rocks that also bounce around when they go inert. Heat Ray buff: Make it penetrate 7 enemies. Possessed Hatchet buff: Make them actively target 3 enemies and only return once 3 targets have been hit.

I think making it a charging weapon to reflect the golem rework while also making the fist explode on contact. Give or take some damage and I think it could be a fun weapon. Maybe not the best, but a charging weapon could warrant a high damage per hit which would be unusual for late game melee.
Giving it pierce is gonna make the damage against single targets a lot worse. The first is gonna go through the enemy rather than hitting the enemy and coming back, lowering the amount of hits per second.
I think the "fire 2 fists" is probably a BETTER buff, but I have an idea for a funnier buff. Make the Golem's Fist play rock-paper scissors. Every time it fires out, it cycles between the three, and each "mode" has a different strength. Maybe something like this: Rock: Explosion on hit Paper: Super increased knockback Scissors: Ignore some enemy defense, and maybe the outstretched fingers give it a mild range buff, lol. Also, is the spirit of offering some more serious buffs, maybe have it pierce 2 enemies or something, and only start returning after it reaches its max distance or hits 3 things on the way out.
In a playthrough I'm doing with my sister who is new to the game, she found the K.O cannon [which surprisingly dropped along with the bananarang] and she really loved it for some reason, maybe she'll find a use for the Golem's Fist later on
Dude my sister found the KO cannon and latched onto it for some reason too. When she found out the Golem Fist exists she dropped the KO cannon and refused to switch off the fist until the end of the game. All I can say is good luck and be ready to pick up damage she lacks.

On my very first playthrough of Terraria many years ago, I was fighting golem for the first time hoping to get the picksaw, the best pickaxe in the game. I ended up being extremley unlucky in this endevour. On my first golem kill he dropped the golem fist, a weapon I tried out and found, like you, to be the worst weapon in the entire game. No picksaw, waste of a power cell. a few kills later, still no picksaw, I get a second golem fist, my first duplicate weapon was the abslolute dogshit one. I grinded this boss further, still not getting a picksaw and they ended up dropping THREE GOLEM FISTS IN A ROW. This is when I saw the truth. The Golem Fist is simply my destiny. Fate has handed me this weapon so by god I'm gonna use it. I killed Golem using it and it finally dropped the picksaw. Aint that poetic or smth idk I love this thing its so silly
I like it in one specific situation, although I'm not entirely sure it counts. In Calamity mod, if you use the Luxor's Gift and aim it at a wall at point blank, it makes so many projectiles that it could probably crash a really low-end pc.

the main reason i like this weapon is just because of nostalgia, when i was a kid and playing on mobile my friend gave this to me early on to fight the wall of flesh and i used it outside of bossfights for most of my playthrough.

That information is based on weird British military experiments, like the idea to make an Aircraft Carrier from solid Pykrete, or using Chickens to keep Nuclear Landmines warm. British ideas are some of the strangest things.

One thing they could do is give it a stacking speed bonus after hitting the same target multiple times. So eventually you just start hitting at incredible speed to make up for its lack of pierce.
Back in the days before golem was locked behind planteras defeat I had a friend who’d always hoik in, kill him, and used the fist in the plantera fight
Honestly, while they could do cool stuff with the golem fist, I think it would be cool if they had an additional damage scaling based on the distance between the target and player. That way the Golem Fist becomes a risk-reward weapon where if you are super close you can deal unparalleled damage. It already kinda has that but if it cranks that concept up to 11 this could become such a sick weapon.
Can you review the starlight next? I think it needs a buff since the it's range and damage output are very close to the terra blade but with better piercing at close range. I could get 3700 dps with a set of melee accessories refoged to warding on the terra blade and 5000 on the starlight.
This weapon always gave me the sense of ‘I got it, so I have to use it’ when I used to play pre-1.3 mobile terraria. And it was definitely better back then, however. I think the best way to put it is just, this weapon is outdated. I don’t even remember it getting any nerfs, buffs, or the sorts, it was sort of just left as the updates went past, and new stronger weapons were added, while weaker ones got buffed. I’m definitely hoping that red will do some sort of rework on this weapon, since it’s so outclassed in any specific field. (And maybe even a total reworking of the golems difficulty AND most of its other drops).

Everyone is saying to make it pierce, but I really think it's designed more to be a single target weapon What I think would be best for it would be if it stunned an enemy for 2 seconds after hitting them and slowed down bosses. Also, make its damage increase by 10% for consecutive hits (up to like 2x damage). So if it does 200 damage at default, then make it do 220, 240, 260, etc. up to 400. This could make it more crowd-control based this way because you'll be more likely to maximize the damage if there are more enemies to hit.
If they gave it the ability to rapid fire multiple fists then it would be like an upgraded version of the Chain Guillotines, hopefully it would be much better Also what if the Golem fist was moved from Golem’s loot pool to the Lizhard temple chests?

I've used the golem fist in the past and it's not that bad even pre buffs, it gave a nice sweetspot at mid range similar to other returning weapons like the light discs I really enjoy and it has amazing kb for annoying enemies. It just has really suffered from how op they made the terablade and its entire line.
This weapon needs to stack like the bananarang. I think it should stack to two that fire in sequence and as compensation, each fist should deal 75% of its current damage, resulting in a dps increase of 50% and making it slightly better at fighting multiple targets. This would match the hatchet at long range and destroy it at close range. It would also beat out the terra blade for max dps since this would bring its optimal 500 dps up to 750 dps.
my biggest issue with terraria is that 90% of the weapons are usually only obtainable after a much much better weapon is already available, thereby removing any incentive to use said weapon
I don't actually think the golem fist is that bad. I used to use it in the moon events as a side weapon when mini bosses got uncomfortably close to me. Of course, the other drops are better in every way but I don’t think it's a get and chest item. More like a get, use a little and then chest item.
I think just giving it piercing or alternatively giving it the ability to charge a punch like how Golem does would be great. Probably not both at once, one or the other.
To give it some credit, at least its reflects the power of the boss its based on 😂

It just has really suffered from how op they made the terablade and its entire line.
This weapon needs to stack like the bananarang. I think it should stack to two that fire in sequence and as compensation, each fist should deal 75% of its current damage, resulting in a dps increase of 50% and making it slightly better at fighting multiple targets. This would match the hatchet at long range and destroy it at close range. It would also beat out the terra blade for max dps since this would bring its optimal 500 dps up to 750 dps.
my biggest issue with terraria is that 90% of the weapons are usually only obtainable after a much much better weapon is already available, thereby removing any incentive to use said weapon
I don't actually think the golem fist is that bad. I used to use it in the moon events as a side weapon when mini bosses got uncomfortably close to me. Of course, the other drops are better in every way but I don’t think it's a get and chest item. More like a get, use a little and then chest item.

I think Fist simply missing a explosion damge which will potentionally fix most of the issues
And maybe size of the fist

honestly would be really interesting if the golem fist specialized at extremely high single target damage instead of being a mediocre generalist.
It can't possibly be any worse than the bloody machete or the ko cannon itself. The ko cannon can't even break 200 dps while being a hardmode weapon!

i thought it's good bc if you use it next to a wall with a target dummy it deals 1500-2300 dps when i got it for the first time

I think just giving it piercing or alternatively giving it the ability to charge a punch like how Golem does would be great. Probably not both at once, one or the other.
I just like punching golem with his own fist while grinding golem kills to get all his stuff lmao
I wish they'd remove the chain and just make it a ranged weapon that shoots rocket fists. At least then it'd be more usable, and funny.
