Once you realize how unnecessary most things we are told we ¨need¨ actually are, it's so liberating. We have to be also careful to not overthink or obsess with the idea of saving if we really want something. at the end that is also stressful. But just thinking twice if we really need/want something saves a lot of money, time and mental energy. I barely buy clothes for example. but I still like to buy CDs even if it's a completely unnecessary item nowadays. simply because I really like them
I can’t relate more! With time i realized the less i have the more free i feel. Like you, i have things i still love to buy just because it brings me so much joy but at the same time i dont need much to be happy anymore. All about balance 🥰
One of the ways I help myself be okay with not buying a thing is thinking about the marketing itself as the thing I want, and I already have that. Seeing the images is experencing the thing I want. Which is especially true when marketing is so good and the thing isn't as special IRL.
Can you please do a wardrobe video? I love those! Also, I am switching to BAREFOOT shoes! They are a game changer. I got rid of 30 pairs of shoes and now I only have 2 pairs left that are barefoot!
I relate to you very much on this topic! I have lot's of hobbies that are mostly creative and always want the best quality out there. It all sounds so amazing to most people if you tell them about all your hobbies, but honestly it's so hard to balance life in general, let alone with so many hobbies
Thank you for this video. After few relocations between countries in my life, I came to similar conclusions and happy to see that I am not alone it is entire world of consumerism & hype.
I'm so glad RUclips suggested this video to me -- I think you and are I very similar people -- almost all your points are directly applicable to me! Soul doppelgängers? I'm subscribing to your channel right away; this is a very profound and interesting video, and I like how you organised your thoughts and shared them. Not with fanfare or rigidity, but with gentle flexibility. Loved it!
This video was really profound. Some points hitting real close to home. I know it's easier said than done but I wanna slowly work on allocating my money on more essential things. So I listed what you said down and plan on crossing out or swapping it for something more affordable/sustainable/or better yet FREE. Thank you for this amazing vid! ✨
That is such a lovely idea! This whole process is definitely a journey that takes time but its so worth it to make more space in our life and save money ☺️🫶🏼 Thank you for sharing!
I understand the hobby one quite well. There was a time where I did penpalling. This lead me into my long time curiosity of fountain pens. I thought I would just buy one quality pen and use this solely for writing. It sat in the drawer for a whole two years when I was using a cheap one that was of good quality. Then when I got into some serious money, I went from a $5 fountain pen from Japan to a $700 Montblanc that has a real gold nib. I no longer penpal since I noticed buying postage for me was getting more and more expensive. It didn't give me room to do other hobbies. But I try and use my fountain pen collection, especially the Montblanc. But I usually carry a cheap ballpoint. I also invested a lot of money and time in journals and different types of paper. Also on typewriters and the paper and ink for this. I'm also a thrifter, so I often find real nice things for a few dollars, compared to hundreds. I like to buy things secondhand whenever I can as it is. I feel like with any hobby, there will be an investment behind it. I use to also collect postage stamps, coins, postcards, and old photographs. I love doing film photography. I have a whole box of film that I need to get developed still.
I have a problem with fabric and ceramics... I make quilts and I really enjoy making them but I think I need to use up the fabric I already own (3 big boxes) And with ceramics.. I just enjoy beautiful vases and bowls but at some point it is just too much 😂
