I have a shower surround, I bought a curtain rod and it goes from one end of the surround to the other….I hang clothing on it…when not in use I roll it back to the wall…gives me 2 rods to hang things on, also have a drying rack for small or awkward pieces.
I have a rolling hanging cart (left over from when needed for closet) that I dry laundry on. Unfortunately it does not fit in laundry room so it lives in the hall most of the time with a place to tuck into pantry when needed.
@@GGsGarden I used to have something similar. That thing comes in handy when you need it. The hall might have better air flow than the laundry room anyway. It’s nice to see what others do when it comes to things like this 🙂
For the last few months, my budget has gotten completely blown. It's a good thing I have quite a bit in savings. It's also a good thing that my health insurance is good. I'd have even more bills!
I absolutely love all the tips. Batch cooking , make easy delicious 😋 snacks, shopping sales at different stores 🏬, and yes using what I have. I love RUclips so no cable for me. Walking around the neighborhood is my way of getting exercise. Working on my garden in my backyard. Growing flowers and herbs to have around the house 🏠 for natural aroma. Ohh so many possibilities and don’t cost a penny 😊
You're right about getting out of debt before you retire. I actually retired on disability and I've been struggling with that ever since! The best thing is to never get into debt and I always knew it was uncomfortable and I didn't like it but after I got married it was a different story! I really appreciate your tips and I find your videos very encouraging.
I'm 47 and definitely getting a head start! Thank you for the tips! Another store that's overpriced these days is Dollar general especially out here in rural Georgia. I drive 46 minutes every 2 weeks to Athens and do my shopping and drive 46 minutes home. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Pretty good list. Don’t forget to mention that some libraries have seed libraries in the spring. They give away packets of donated seeds I think our library has a 10 pack per patron limit. I’ve gotten many of my seeds this way the last few years. So then if I fail at gardening it didn’t cost me anything 😂
Like always, great ideas. One thing I did many years ago as a stay at home mom, was to use powdered milk whenever baking. It was economical and hopeuflly it is today. I use loyalty cards and a credit card points. I save those point(money) until spring then use those rewards to buy annuals and perennials for the garden. I always tell people, "I don't spend if I don' earn". Keep up the good tips!
Right… but what are you baking using powdered milk? Most baked goods are unnecessary. No one needs to eat cookies, cakes, or desserts. It also saves a lot of time, in life, skipping baking and dessert.
Decluttering is such a good tip. My spending went down after getting rid of things I wasn’t using, in part because I just liked having the empty space in my home.
Great ideas 👍🏻 I impulsively bought something the other day online and if I would have waited 24 hours I would have seen that it was a lot cheaper elsewhere 😵💫
Thanks. I have gone so far off the rails lately. Of course, I have an excuse for them all but only maybe two or three are valid. The rest is just sad things that happened, and you think if you buy something it will make everything better (it doesn't). Have a nice day and thanks again for helping me get back on track with your great and sensible videos.
My library has lots of activities, educational speakers, and clubs. It has online subscriptions to magazines like consumer reports. It even lends out museum passes.
You misspelled electronics! Other than that great list. Our library checks out fishing poles. In NY we had one that loaned framed artwork. I was living in an apartment temporarily and rotated their stuff on my walls to see what I might want to buy and use in the space. Carole
For people new to the channel…Thank you for all the tips even if they’re repeats. It’s all new to me and I’m grateful!!! Thx for doing what you do! 🙏🍀🍀🍀
I'm always amazed at the number of people I know who are struggling financially that have cable and/or multiple streaming subscriptions. How does anyone watch that much TV????? Plus there are so many freebies out there. I limit us to two at a time and currently we only have one which is about to be cancelled.
Thank you for your videos. I actually do a lot of the things naturally anyway. I find your ideas good reinforcement of my current practices. Love your enthusiasm & passion.
I think Sara is referring to a food larder, we have a food bank for donations and a food larder for food donated by shops every day that is going in the bin if not claimed-very different concepts!
She said VOLUNTEER or WORK AT a food pantry or food CO-OP for lower prices, not go to one to get free food. Also, I've heard countless food pantry volunteers say they've been invited to take fresh produce home when they're in excess after being given away to those in need bc they'd go to waste anyhow.
I agree I before becoming a pensioner damaged my spine big time and was on benefits equal to $600 a month that’s all bills then food banks which was so humiliating and angered me women came in fancy cars grabbed everything even free flowers which would have cheered me up I hope karma bites there arse! Ha ha! ♥️🇬🇧
I quit caffeine 6 months ago. Yes, the headaches for 4 days were not fun. However....I feel better, and have more energy, than I have in years! And bonus....I save money on my grocery bill. 😊
I know I should wean off caffeine but the thought of those headaches are a great deterrent!!! I would have to do it when my family would not be around for quite a while.😊
I am 64 and have been living frugal doing these things for years. Times have changed and newer ideas need to be come up with. You have to take it a step farther come up with new and better idea's. You can't just say shop sells and use coupons, now every meal has to be planned out to the last little crumb you have with nothing wasted. Having meat in a meal is now the dessert, it's for special occasions, with two more canning plants closing down soon vegetable prices will also be going up. How are you going to handle that? While casseroles used to be the secret and dump crockpot meals were the answer, now every ingredient cost 20 percent more. 5 ingredient recipes will cost you more than 20.00, now it's just plain potatoes with a side of beans. Spices will become more important, cooking outside every chance you get will be the way to go, and no you can't use those cute gas things, nor charcoal you will be going foraging for wood. Mom made a temporary cooker outside the back of the house when I was young out of some leftover concrete blocks and we found the wood. Used an old oven wire rack for the pots and pans to sit on. Think now before you get caught in the storm that is coming. Do you really need to use all that toilet paper? Reassess every purchase, save your cash, small bills, don't trust the banks, have your tax money set aside as soon as you get the last one paid off. I had thought we were going to be o.k. until I saw some utubers in Arizona show the price of a beef roast at 42.00. Those prices are moving my way, it's time to buckle down even harder. Good luck, I would like to know if anyone else is really feeling the pinch and what have they had to give up that other people think are "normal" purchases.
I saw that video, too... Having brain fart on name, but do remember it had glorious in the name. I have given up paper products almost completely, using family cloths and reusable homemade items instead. Cleaning products are vinegar and water with just a few drops of cheap dishsoap. Feeding pets less pet food, supplemented with cheap cuts of meat and meat juices left over from our dinners, is cheaper than straight dried food, and they like it better. Resize my old clothes since I have to eat less... have stopped desserts and drink only water, no more sodas. Have actually stopped eating almost everything that has sugar due to health problems. No sugar, no starchy carbs like carrots and potatoes, very little fruit, mostly berries. Have chickens for eggs, grow sprouts, and will probably have a small container garden of some sort once I learn more about it, AND may even do a little foraging here and there istead of letting the critters eat all my bkackberries. Oh, and I rarely buy water to drink when out as I always have a bottle that I bring from home. I also reuse grocery bags for my trash. I am sure I am forgetting something, but that is all I can think of for now.
I really enjoyed your comment. And I hear you. I'm taking it to heart and will put some serious thought and research into it. I truly appreciate the constructive criticism, and thank you for doing it in a kind manner.
You're over 50? Wow, I would have never guessed it. Great tips. When I was younger I used to change my own oil and spark plugs. Now I'm 72 with arthritis in many joints so I won't be doing that anymore. 😁
I have been doing many of these. I haven't owned a clothes dryer since 2014. I love hanging clothea up either on my racks or outside on the lines. Great ideas.
May I ask what about sheets and towels? I dry a lot of clothing without dryer but sheets and towels are crunchy if not put in the dryer. What do you do to reduce the crunchiness?
It may seem silly to suggest this but I always make my morning coffee and afternoon tea in Thermos jugs, that way I only boil the kettle once. The Coffee and Tea stays hot and if you get called to the phone or door, nothing is spoiled. Coffee is very expensive here in Germany.
Netflix will allow a family plan with rwo households if you are honest with them. We use it for our daughter, a single mom. It is more than our house alone, but less than two accounts. It is an inexpensive way we support our girls emotionally, and it keeps me in the loop with our 4 year old granddaughter who lives 4 hours away. ❤
Some older boilers cannot be turned up and down as you come and leave the home and if you try it can cost more electricity and fuel or even break the boiler requiring an expensive replacement. I have one of these and I just set it at a fairly low temperature (and turn it off completely in summer) and wear more clothing and use a lot of blankets. It also makes sleeping much easier as a lower temperature helps us sleep sounder.
Your content is so helpful and couldnt be more relevant than now. Love the budget sheets and meal planning. Both items save alot of time and money and take out the guesswork of whats for dinner or what do I have to pay now. Excellent content - keep making this🎉❤
I have a tip..check for Estate Sales in your area they have websites also so you know where....head right to the kitchen and garage buy supplies like paper towels, soaps, garbage bags for super cheap. Estate sales on Sundays normally have discounts too.
Coffee- if you don't want to spend the money for a fancy machine get a stainless steel french press, mine was 16$ online. No filters to buy and it will last forever. Pets- if you have a dog or cat make their food yourself. There are tons of vet approved recipes online. This will not only save you lots of money it's much healthier for them.
I'm on social security and live alone. My low-income senior apartment does not include a washer and dryer, so I bought a small apartment sized washing machine and a drying rack for my apartment on Amazon. This has saved me $30 to $40 a month! Sure, my clothes take longer to dry but it's so easy to keep up on everything when it's right there in the house.
I was able to save money by unplugging everything but the refrigerator and stove. When I use the appliance I plug it in and when done I unplug it. Even if the appliance is off there is still power being leaked.
In the UK we usually have on/off switches on our sockets/outlets so we just switch them off, no need to fumble around unplugging them! As a child, though, we didn't, and I was always taught to unplug things for both safety and economy. It's a good habit to get into when you don't have switches on your electricity outlets. Switching off the socket or unplugging things which put themselves on 'standby' mode offers even more savings , as long as any needed settings are not lost when the power supply is cut completely.
I co to a county wide clinic the price after Medicare pays is around $23.00. And Med are really cheap. I think I spend on my cat than myself. But she is cuter. Also feed stray & birds.I lots of medical problems so the clinic is is great
Also I cook most of the time. I live in the country so I can't just pop over for fast food. I only buy food that's on sale but then I get extra. I live for the grocery store sales flyers, the dollar stores, and Aldi. I buy books at a second hand book store that benefits a shelter for domestic violence. Plus they have 3 half price sales. I don't have cable or anything like that.
@@saraconklinfrozenpennies Sure thing. Actually, I do use a shower rack where I live now because the climate is dry and can handle it. But a long time ago we had to make repairs to our kitchen that was getting moldy. There was a root cause, but my drying clothing in the house was only making it worse.
There are some convenience stores where it is your best option for staples. I check the kwik trip for bread, eggs, meat, milk. Occasionally, I buy a sandwich for lunch, especially if there is 5 cents or more off of a gallon of gas. With their app, I can earn cents off gas without going anywhere or spending anything.

Same here I won't say never but usually only once a month and then I fill it up and bake as much as I can at one time and freeze. A example is I recently bought a pack of 44 fish sticks, baked all at once and froze in to single servings. Anna In Ohio
Yah. I have been busting it lately making sure I know the best ways to properly store (short and long term) food. Esp healthier things like all the produce. A lot of it is really working. Yay! Lol. I used to get so stressed about it all going bad (as it’s meal planning for one) or just not hardly buy it for the same reason. Put strawberries in a mason jar or a baggie w a towel and don’t wash yet. Celery in foil. Mushrooms in a paper bag w a towel. Cukes in a baggie in the door w a towel. Spinach in a flat baggie w a towel. Pop blueberries in freezer as is. How to make freeze strawberries or dehydrate in your oven. Soft kiwis are the ripest. Etc. Maybe a lot of folks know these things but I sure didn’t. Lol. Lol. I dance about half an hour a few times a week (when I’m on it lol) for cardio. But I also think women over 50 need to look into strength/resistance workouts and getting enough compete proteins Bcuz we esp need to build muscle and not just burn calories. Aerobics only burn cals that we just put back on at the next meal. Muscle is more compact and kind of has a way of “pushing out” stored fat. Still not exactly sure how it works but I know you have to give fat a one two punch like that lol. I’m focusing on learning a lot more about that (resistance workouts and proper diet macro balance) sort of thing. (At 55 lol) and finally making some good use of those kettle bells I bot ages ago but didn’t use. Lol.
What if a person is a collector? I ADORE BOOKS!!!!!!! Reading is my passion and escapism. I am frugal so I can buy and collect books. I dislike the library as most people are disrespectful to books. Other bibliophiles will attest they avoid or never loan books to even family and friends as many people are not trustworthy with these prized possessions. I own over 2200 and counting - my only splurge and true happiness.
I’m going to read my books once and then, donate. I’ve decided not to keep my books because if you don’t read them again, then what’s the point of holding onto them?
@@Frugal_fitchic I definitely reread my favourites! But, if a deserving person (even a stranger) respects and loves books I gift them one of my duplicates. It's insane, but my duplicate numbers range from 4 to 22 of the same novel.
I received a comment from @aletheia_lookinglass but my reply is not being accepted. I wanted to say I can relate to the wall to wall, floor to floor books. If the pages are worn thin, buy duplicates like me - and I wish I could let you see my collection and vice versa. More power to you!
FYI 99% of streaming services restrict sharing the account to household members only...passing your password to friends and family that don't live in your household is a violation of terms of service and can get you banned,.. it's really kind of dishonest too..sorta like going to through a buffet and loading your purse up with food to take home.

Fast food restaurants are ridiculously overpriced. I treated a friend yesterday and for 2 hamburger combo meals it was $24 and change ‼️‼️ I was at Burger King
Make batches and freeze in individual portions. I use sandwich bags, then put all those in a gallon freezer bag. Examples: spaghetti sauce, chili, taco meat, some stew type things I then serve over rice or noodles, lasagna(make 9x13 and freeze individual size pieces), many pasta/sauce type entrees freeze well, just cook pasta 1/2 time so it’s not mushy when you reheat.
Growing things is great is you have a proper yard. I do not agree with container grown substantial food grown in pots in low quantities as the cost of very good soil and compost etc,… for the small quantity of produce doesn’t add up. I would stick to herbs and spring onions etc which are better grown at home even if in pot. Growing fruits in containers in a small quantity just doesn’t stack up. Many people spend a lot on pots and soil and conditioners of various sorts and get ten apples a year😂 Farmers markets are also frequently way more expensive than an alternative independent grocer. I would never buy fruit and veg in a supermarket but understand some have no options.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I did not know that amazon had free book days for kindles, thankyou for your suggestions
Keep
up the good tips!
I declutter..I'll regift things I already have in the house, or gifts I can't use
Yes cook eat at home i meal prep freeze in portion sizes
Great ideas 👍🏻 I impulsively bought something the other day online and if I would have waited 24 hours I would have seen that it was a lot cheaper elsewhere 😵💫
you can return it, right?
Thank you for the refresher. I knew a lot of them, but learned some new ones.
You misspelled electronics!
Other than that great list. Our library checks out fishing poles. In NY we had one that loaned framed artwork. I was living in an apartment temporarily and rotated their stuff on my walls to see what I might want to buy and use in the space. Carole
UGH! I really am the worst speller, and I try to double-check. Thanks!
That's so cool
Was that necessary ?
For people new to the channel…Thank you for all the tips even if they’re repeats. It’s all new to me and I’m grateful!!! Thx for doing what you do! 🙏🍀🍀🍀
I'm always amazed at the number of people I know who are struggling financially that have cable and/or multiple streaming subscriptions. How does anyone watch that much TV????? Plus there are so many freebies out there. I limit us to two at a time and currently we only have one which is about to be cancelled.
I'm 50 but could sure use your tips ,I love your channel
❤🎉
First time I've listed to you. Wanted you to know I've done of the these for year. Thank you for so much more details. Looking forward to next post😊
Enjoying your videos geared towards women over 50. 😆 ♥️
🌷Sam
Me, too! Hope they keep coming!
Thanks so much! I appreciate that!
Wow - you look good for being over 50!
I honestly believed you were 42. Honestly. I enjoy your videos. 😅😅
Awe. Thanks!
I've done most if not all of these all my life. Thanks for the kudos! lol
Thank you for your videos. I actually do a lot of the things naturally anyway. I find your ideas good reinforcement of my current practices. Love your enthusiasm & passion.
You lost me when you said go to food banks just to be thrifty. That is different than going when when you really need to.
Exactly!! It is 100% wrong to go to a food bank just because you want to save money! People in NEED of food are why there are food banks.
I appreciate your kind words. At 72, I might pay someone also!
@user-hw9vf4pl9s I put them outside for softness.
Great tips! So true about clearing clutte ❤😊❤
Excellent content - keep making this🎉❤
This is great advice. Enjoyed the video
Super video!! Best tip to pack lunch and compare prices. If I see something I want I see if I can find it on eBay or Amazon for a better price.
I have a tip..check for Estate Sales in your area they have websites also so you know where....head right to the kitchen and garage buy supplies like paper towels, soaps, garbage bags for super cheap. Estate sales on Sundays normally have discounts too.
loved all your tips..great help
We used to do fresh produce swap
Coffee- if you don't want to spend the money for a fancy machine get a stainless steel french press, mine was 16$ online. No filters to buy and it will last forever.
Pets- if you have a dog or cat make their food yourself. There are tons of vet approved recipes online. This will not only save you lots of money it's much healthier for them.
I'm waaaay over 50. I have 3 more credit card payments and I will be debt free, except for the house payment which is 3 more years.
Thank you so much.
Am growing buk choy celery spring onions
I love growing onions and garlic because they keep so well and I use them every day. I grow enough for the year and know that what I grow is organic.
Thank you so much!!
Good advice! Thanks!
Hi Sarah
I co to a county wide clinic the price after Medicare pays is around $23.00. And Med are really cheap. I think I spend on my cat than myself. But she is cuter. Also feed stray & birds.I lots of medical problems so the clinic is is great
I use fabric softner duted to wash down cupboards smells lively
@@americafirst9144 it's not to be consumed it's to wash cupboards down with lol
I use fabric softner , add water to it and put it in spray bottle, spray curtains and bedding.
Life changers prepparing empty nesters yes debt free retired
Also I cook most of the time. I live in the country so I can't just pop over for fast food. I only buy food that's on sale but then I get extra. I live for the grocery store sales flyers, the dollar stores, and Aldi. I buy books at a second hand book store that benefits a shelter for domestic violence. Plus they have 3 half price sales. I don't have cable or anything like that.
Drying clothing indoors in winter can cause mold, depending where in the world you live.
I would hope the people who are susceptible to this would at least run a fan. Thanks for the feedback.
I can’t find the link for this budget
Nice tips but that part about take care of your family and pay for college!? Is there something wrong with them who are also grown taking care of themselves?
I’ve been doing all this since 2005 and I’m still poor! Price of goods are rising faster than ever.
Produce or farmers markets in my area are not going save me money. Usually really expensive.

I never use oven o cook in slow cooker
Lol.
😊
Im over 50 ❤❤❤😮😮😮😊😊😊
I’m sorry but I don’t see the link for your budget book.
FYI 99% of streaming services restrict sharing the account to household members only...passing your password to friends and family that don't live in your household is a violation of terms of service and can get you banned,.. it's really kind of dishonest too..sorta like going to through a buffet and loading your purse up with food to take home.
I get my cleaners and essential oils from a The Wellness Store, the #1 wellness store online. And the best of all cleaners and essential oils over every brand out there. The first ever company that made essential oils. I will not make my cleaners with vinegar, it does not disenfect all virus.

Before my dad would let me get my drivers license, i had to change a tire twice. Know how to jump a battery and i mow have a jump box and let a man at laundromat use it to jump a car (and he almost lost half of it when giving it back to me....not good guys)
My dad did this, too!!!
I'm 37 and I'm going to start doing this from China.
Fast food restaurants are ridiculously overpriced. I treated a friend yesterday and for 2 hamburger combo meals it was $24 and change ‼️‼️ I was at Burger King
18:10 i bought an exercise video for $1.25 at Dollar Tree.
I live alone and need ideas for meal's
I keep it simple with a piece of meat, a vegetable, cheese, and a piece of sugar free candy. It cuts down on prep time and carbohydrates.
Thank you
i do this as well!@@bethmichaels8410
Cereal for breakfast sandwich fruit lumches meal prep dinners

I am 53 and got an opportunity to retire a month ago and guess what? I left the 🇺🇸 US and trust me it’s worth it because I can live off of my bank interest 🎉
Now I am curious. Where did you move to?
I got a really good used stove from a family for free but I didn’t realize it had roaches in it!
Sorry to be Mary Contrary, but this borders on Poverty Mentality which isn't a good vibe to be living on for the best of my life. Many of the ideas are good for and of themselves and are healthier options than being unnecessarily mindless about spending. Good for those! But doing these out of FEAR because I am in my 50's that i risk feeling deprived because I have to save just is not for me... Enjoy life, don't scrimp on joy and happiness!
If you don’t have money to spend because you weren’t thrifty your life won’t be so joyful.
Cash gets you thru the line faster too
I prefer to cook my dinners and even if it is a leftover. My husband prefers to eat put! Itis a tug of war.😊
Good solid advice...but you don't have to be over 50 to do this. I encourage my daughters in their mid twenties and 30's to do many of these suggestions.
