"i should have brought a gun with me"
Arclight pistol: i'm a joke to you ?
@joellachmann1529, Don't think so pal, Maybe Climb out of Chris Roberts's ass a little and see the big picture.
LOL
You joke but i've seen
Citizen Kate in her new life on Carrack series destroy enemies with one in the new xeno threat mission chain!
Kate lol
I've started carrying that pistol again just because of those vids.
The fact that you can see trains coming and going real time on the map aswell as their doors opening, while you're not even near the train is insane to me. That is a very small but cool detail.
And also that ships landing in you maps area renders in and you can see the ship detailed in the map and its own map within it is so cool. How tf did they do it?
Literally feels like a new game.
I’m sure the shaders have been improved, feels sharper and clearer tbh
@@Raums Hows performance? Same? Worse? Better? What about Cloud settings, and have you tried DLSS and Vulkan stuffs?
Yes it is and some RUclipsrs are trash talking stuff they haven’t even figured out how it functions yet.
@@Sparkk0 Horrible as expected. It's wave 1 in the EPTU after all.
@joellachmann1529, Don't think so pal, Maybe Climb out of Chris Roberts's ass a little and see the big picture.
It's cool you can see the doors of the train open in the mini map even though you are on a completely different level. It shows how incredible the game is. It's like a true alternate universe.
Would be great to see 'vehicles' including lifts and trains in a slightly different colour on the minimap to indicate they are a vehicle and can move - would be handy for seeing which lifts are already at the same level as you so can just go click them instead
What got me was on the engineering screen you can watch turrets rotate. I'm not sure why but it blew my mind much like your door comment.
Imagine being a sniper in a city knowing when the doors open to somewhere you're target is and timing it with it in some elaborate assassination job. so now we are ghost recon as well...
Information and perception is a hugely underestimated field in gaming.
Usually everyone gets the same basic visual and sound cues with a few special classes in RPG being able to dee through walls or see invisibility and that's it.
The new radar is fantastic and I am really crossing my fingers they will go deep and hard with this, like BH helmets/lenses being able to detect criminals, exploration helmets being able to pick up on nodes of interest, engineering helmets to show all the electronics even of stations etc etc...
I know the ships cost to much and its taking a long time. But as a gamer I can't understand how anyone could look at people like Olli43 literally playing the game. And still say things like "the game will never come out". Almost every clip I see of people playing star citizen I am amazed. Star Citizen is mind blowing! I understand why it is taking so long. They're are making every one who loves space games "Dream" Space game.
Star Citizen when don e will be the biggest feat in gaming history to date. Hands down.
I hope this is one of those games like Minecraft that will continue development into perpetuity It's hard to even fathom how much effort has gone into the foundations.
Aren't ships 40-50 dollars or something? And that's the only one you need since you can buy ships in game
Game is boring af
@@Hi12239 For you. Every game has its audience. Heck, none of the big games from last year were my thing. I don't even know why people love Baldur's Gate 3 so much
@@ZedDevStuffan in depth RPG with a surprising amount of depth and complexity in the choices you make, to a degree that hasn’t been seen in decades. Great writing and lovable characters and companions, as well as romance options for those thirsty types
When it switched from gun mode to nav mode again, the sound it made was so good!
Tactically the mini map could be great fun. Attacking a large ship, having door system to “ghost” doors and confuse defenders etc ❤
A big ship is supposed to be able to do that. And the Anvil boardingcraft can override it.
really going to make the MSR KEY to onboard invasions
4:14 they actually explained in detail how it works on one of the more recent ISCs or SCLs ...
In short: it takes all the runtime data of the verse and mirrors it into a lower-detail model which is the map app.
Hence why you (theoretically) can see everything at any place (that you own the map data for) on the map app in real time...
Yes, pretty impressive.
They further improved the Starmap a LOT in the latest bit: less flicker, better contrast, especially on bright side of planets. I went from 'what on earth were you thinking!?' to "I'm really digging it!" in the last 48h. As you said the Starmap was totally unreadable at first.
the round mini map with no helmet and square with is a very quick way to check, thanks Olli for showing the map and the other stuff . people talk about it you showed it great thanks
For any newbies to SC, at 12:00, please dont think in SC as soon as you start your engines it teleports you outside.
Leaving this comment as i shared this vid with a friend of mine who im trying to get into SC and he said "nah bro i played that other space game and it annoyed me you'd just tele to space"
Ollie is just THAT good with his edits thats all. aha
You used to bug out and get teleported out to space sometimes so he’s not wrong
This is what I thought when I saw that edit :)
@@AvocadoBondageyes but a bug is not what is expected, most of the times you need to drive out of the hangar
Can’t believe I been watching everyone of your videos for a year and a half now! Ollie is the best thank you for all you do for us ❤
Ending got me thinking I had Thrillseeker open in another tab 😂
Ty for the video as always !
I bought a starter pack about 3 years ago now, i've put in about 2 hours playtime. The Ui change alone makes this actually feel like a game and with the new map it is much more noob friendly to figure out wtf is going on.
The auto-speed limitation when the gear's out is kind of a throwback to the old, OLD days when "landing mode" would cap your speed at 50 mps - glad they brought that back.
I wonder if they'd ever bring back an improved 'hover' or helicopter flight mode, as I think that's the most realistic way to go about it when in VTOL. Maybe for any kind of landing assist mode they have in future
@@explorer47422 I think they might. The old one wasn’t horrible, it just needed to be tweaked. You would instantly accelerate straight into the ground if you dipped slightly in any direction. It just didn’t feel good - a more forgiving version? I think they’ll go back to it eventually
@@explorer47422 Look at the flight demonstration from last years Citcon with Yogi, the days of hovering facing down is coming to an end, not in 3.23 but soon
@@explorer47422 control surfaces will do that
@@explorer47422 I hope they bring it back. I really liked where that was going. It was a bit to twitchy though.
I can hover a helo in DCS. So it should be possible in SC.
Its the same twitchy as the way the vehicles feel in SC.
star citizen always felt like a prototype by a few guys.
This new ui makes it feel like a game
by a few guys? lol ( know what you meant...but it feels like a prototype by "a few guys"?)
@@pppship Some people dont know anything about game development :)
@@pppshipYeah? Old map was kinda shit) 😅
@pppship This game's staggering complexity means yes, there often are just a 'few guys' working on a given feature.
Tons of separate systems, all with varying degrees of importance.. and so the starmap and HUD elements simply lagged behind. Now the UI is alot more unified.
@@XkriskrossX I know it's a very complicated game especially the handling of persistence across the whole in game universe and to be able to go everywhere without a loading screen. I just wanted to get my point across that the game didn't feel like a game because it was always kinda weird interacting with the game.
I love it OLI! such a great sneak peek into the future! Are you going to Citizencon this year??
Some nice improvements, although I do feel like it's until meshing is in that we'll finally see true potential, with everything running smoothly and much much higher player counts. I do like that we're finally getting patches that feel like the game overall is shaping up, instead of niche things like mining or salvaging improvements.
I am wary of master modes for combat, but I really like how the transition between the different modes feels.
It seems more interactive and even more realistic, but that good feeling might disappear when trying to get away from aggressors in a fast but squishy/shield-based non-combat ship.
The transition is much faster for smaller ships but there will still be a small window of vulnerability, It’ll be all about timing
The radiation that you mentioned at the beginning is for when Pyro comes out I believe. The star in Pyro sometimes does it's thing to where your ship's electronics stop working and you can get irradiated.
Simple and efficient
9:45 It's really a shame that he removed the purchase animation in the kiosks, it takes away the immersion, I hope he puts it back while keeping the quick purchase aspect
13:40 Master mode is a good idea but there are too many limitations for speed based ships like the C1, it's currently a dead trap in combat and you will never fight with this kind of ship again in its current state :/
The quick purchase is only for small items like consumables, larger purchases will still bring up the confirmation screen, as shown in a recent ISC
To be fair the C1 is more of a fancy 18 wheeler, and you wouldn't really want to fight in that either. A lot of the non-combat ships especially civilian, shouldn't be able to really take on a military combat focused ship. Of course with hostile aliens, and pirates it's understandable to have defense capabilities and able to put up enough of a fight is dissuade attacks, but they aren't ships you should be going out looking for a fight in anyways.
@@explorer47422 Not what they mean quick buy in live actually grabs the item off the shelf and you have it in your hand. quick buy in this video apparently just teleports the item into an inventory. Its both less immersive and less useful.
I think they mean the grabbing animation when you buy something small like burrito or Cruz lux @@explorer47422
They absolutely nailed that update. Damn I am exited!
It's not like this for the average player, he must be on a high performing environment.
It is buggy as hell and all through the server players have issues. i can't even play it as comms will not let me type in chat or call station services to even get a ship out of hangar.
Loved the detail and coverage you gave here, thanks for the upload. Would love to see the exit cockpit to EVA animation for the Ares , or probably anything that's cockpit direct to EVA (the Ares always flung me out in a confusing spin).
I wonder now with floating around in space (outside of a ship) if the thrusters will keep making you go faster or if there is a top speed you can hit and then the thrusters do nothing. Just thought it'd be interesting if you had some pirates rocketing toward your disabled ship but by the time you see them and try to retreat they already have so much built up momentum that they beat you back to the ship.
I can't wait to get back into this though. I took a long break from the game but once I started hearing about some of these updates I came crawling back where I belong. I'm curious to see what else they'll add in to just living in the universe.
Wow. Looks so good now. The map needed some live for a long time.
The mini map disappearing answered a question I had related to elevators.
They had to do this, or it would have shown how elevators cheat and 'interdimentionally' travel all over the station and space to reach the hangars and lobby. 🙃
Quick tap 'i' for the old personal inventory, long hold 'i' for the new personal inventory. Also hold F to bring up the radial menu to enter the Gear Terminals.
8:40 is brilliant for new players. General and personal was a bit confusing. The change to red text helps to get the point across that those messages and their contents come with risk.
The smoothness of getting back ya ship .. finallly!!
Your character will put its arms out to absorb the contact if you fly strait into the side of your ship in EVA. Would be interesting to know if firing the weapon will slow you down and conversely give you momentum.
I suspect the slight tilt is because you are looking at your mobi-glass on your forearm so its simulating that. maybe. as such i can deduce you wear your mobi on your right arm.... which, if that is the default in the game, and SC matches current times, most people wear their watch on the off-hand so right handers where watches on their left and vice versa. so your star citizen persona seems likely to be a left hander. wow did I got on a tangent.....
CANT WAIT FOR THIS TO GO LIVE!
Mobiglass is off for me too. Great video Olli
mind blowing. this is way too exciting
Okay, the Verified/Unverified button on the mission app is a genius way to explain them in-universe.
I wish my SC ran that smoothly, I got so many damn hitches atm haha
The leaning mobi was a bug, fixed in latest build
I am a super new player, not having completed a single contact yet, just exploring.
My biggest gripe was the StarMap. I don’t want excessive UI or waypoints, but a general nav system that isn’t a pain to use is so exciting
I'd like to see entering and exiting the Vulture side door. That thing's damn-near a deathtrap if you aren't careful.
Went to explore Cry Astra UGF. Whilst it has pads the repair & refuel did not work, in addition on exiting was shit at by guards. Could be a reputation / Delphi thing but a hostile versus friendly indication would be nice in the location summary?
This is just way better in every way!
gona be vaiting for wave 3 acses now so hyped
Thank you for this tutorial it was fun. Can you make one on storage facilities and/or animal hunting?
this feels the jump we had from 2.6 to 3.0 just actually huge change
The Vision™ is finally getting close!
The biggest thing for me, 16:46 ...
Current patch, he would have been flailing all over that ramp having some sort of epileptic attack. Gets so old after a while, it is one of the things that is funny exactly one time before being just straight irritating. Can't wait for this change/patch.
This feels like one of those games that has so much basic fundamental foundation it can now pretty much do whatever
That mobiglass needs player built apps, like the Consoles and Programming Decks in Dual Universe which were 100% programmable by players using LUA, including autopilots, landing and navigation computers... Damage HUDs etc. Could be sold in an in game store to generate revenue for the programmers and the software could be featured in the CIG videos etc.
14:10 I do wonder if the SCM speeds are locked to the same speed for every ship. Cause ofc something like the Khartu-Al would be heavily disadvantaged by being the same speed as everything else
The Khartu-al has always been able to change directions a lot faster, including sideways.
In the beginning many ships will feel the same. But they plan to change ships to be different in time. Its part of balancing
Cant wait for it all to come out.
Looks exceedingly polished (map and Eva especially) It's really great that devs seemed to have had time to finally focus on the utility parts of the game that currently are massively lacking on ptu. It's mad that I'm actually admitting that I'm really looking forward to using a star map and eva of a game!
In landing gears down it should limit the ship's speed, but keep the momentum going, else you cant have an emergency landing. Also it would look more realistic
@Olli43!!!! YOURE 5th in the Star Citizen's Referral Program! :O :O :O Congrats, man!!! :D
being able to just keep your momentum in eva means you'll save on eva fuel too
I love how as you EVA back in the map of the ship shows up. Uncoupled EVA?
I’m not sure if it is or not but they should have the speed limiter when gear is lowered to be something toggle-able
Reminds me of the early days of SC
Great video. The lag on the servers from New Zealand makes everything unresponsive. But that could be just old dying servers I think.
some places hurt you with radiation from 3.22 .. hurston settlement i went to had a missle bunker that would do damage to you standing around it
this was literally the video I was looking for thank you oli
Every time I leave this game they release an update to pull me back in .. this look so smooth !
Are the grean areas on the C1 map something that will be part of engineering gameplay possibly? They looked like they lined up with the component areas on the C1. Green for components in good condition, yellow for components in need of service, and red for nonfunctional components (heavily damaged or destroyed).
You have the radiation icon in heath because there will be radioactive cargo hauls in the future. Don't stand near it very long. 😎
the holographic wrist HUD should be color coded to make it even more intuitive
Wow, these are incredible changes! I’m very concerned for the issues we can predict with master modes but everything else will be a very positive change!
I had no idea the new EVA system was coming with 3.23. As if I needed any more reasons to be excited about this update. This is gonna be one of the most monumental steps for the game ever. Can't wait to dig in.
I hope you have the option to turn the "F" display for interaction off. I don't need to see the letter every time I interact with an object. Just highlight it.
The new area map gives me a feel of Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor. I wonder if they got the idea there.
😍 This looks so good!
But with how you need organized groups to properly experiment with the engineering system and the new hangars still missing I don't think I will pay to get into wave 1.
Hey Olli, do you know if there's gonna be a full wipe or not?
Btw the fact that the shields go out when in nav mode is really bad, cause now if you get surprised attacked your ship will be damaged before you turn on shields
No one knows about a wipe for sure, not even CIG.
But the community suspects it, and many are asking for it.
the rad meter is going to be useful when pyro is introduced. they are simply designing fora "end" game state. which is nice to see in their mindset of development.
12:07 I wonder how that's going to affect vector landing 🤔
I love this so much! The game already has so much to love, but the user interface held me back from recommending it to people. I felt like a lot of simple things were made difficult by clunky interface. The shopping was so smooth looking and can make life a lot easier. The additional info in the wrist computer like gravity, atmosphere, etc really helps me get into the game and provides actually useful feedback. Great video!
im loving these changes, 3.23 is going to be lit
Messing around in one of the larger ships with an engine bay at the rear of the ship, No suit on while in the room can confirm you'll get radiation standing next to it.
Be cool if it did the same thing when you put on shades/Glasses, it'll give you a new interface that's on them.
Nice. Thanks for the video. But can you tell us if the fuel for the EVA is depleted, I mean, even for a little bit? 😊 If yes, can we fill it, and where? 😅Sorry to ask and thank you 👍🏻
I watched the demo of the tech last year in SQ42 or the yr before The maps work in real-time because it's just the actual models of those places in greybox without any textures or extra details!
It doesn't need to synchronise because it's as simple as opening up a greybox window in engines that will show it simultaneously I used to do game design and they showed me how to open one of these greybox windows!
I can't remember if it was UE3.5 or 3DSMax but the tech has been around for a long time now in the games industry it's the first time I've personally seen anyone use it as a map in an mmo
the closest games I can think of doing something like this any spidey game since the spider-man movie game 2
and of course the metroid prime games had a map that worked like this too but it was far cruder than the actual levels and possibly designed separately not using the actual map levels to do it!
It's an impressive feat of engineering and the fact that it goes from macro scale to what ever grand scale space equivalent of macro is!
and i've seen it on map menu's before but never seen the 3D representation in the mini-map literally just be a mini window for the actual map instead of 2d representation!
then again BDO had 3d but theres wasn't in realtime least I don't think so!
So yeah the package deliveries I was doing are gonna be much easier and I don't have to worry about food and drink
cause once the replication layer is fully stable I don't have to worry about losing my stuff I got from the loot boxes at the stations I deliver my packages between
I'm also planning to stream myself on my other YT channel climbing a mountain on micro-tech but first I'll do some research I wanna find the biggest mountain there is!
I land my syulen at the very bottom and hike up in a Novikov suit!
As for text I'm thinking of suggesting to the UI devs to think of some sort of inversion or negative system so whenever UI text overlays over a bright background it inverts to black on the brighter section!
I especially think this is a good idea as someone who's daily is a Gatac Syulen that uses transparent MFD's I could barely read the text at all on the daytime side of Micro when in orbit!
I remember playing star Citizen back in 2012, its come a long way
There wasn't any playable content in 2012. Back then we were just a bunch of old Wing Commander fans theory crafting on the forums.
In 12 years? I mean it's come somewhere
Good trick seeing there wasn't anything to play in 2012, hangar module was a few years later from the Kickstarter
No, you didn't and, yes it has.
8:18 ... Concave ?
So nice, very positive thank you
Mobi glass cutting off on the right side is due to FOV.
nice Armor Set
looks so much better
Kinda reminds of of Elite Dangerous which is good
This train is full speed ahead , CIG is looking to kick ass & take names. All aboard the hype train! o7
10:00 i kind of hate that they apparently got rid of quick buy actually grabbing things. It feels like an unquestionable step backwards for it to now just apparently teleport into an inventory. Not just for immersion but for actual utility I would assume if you are just quick buying like a single drink then it would obviously be for immediate use right? Now quick buying say a burger still requires you to open inventory and grab it which kind of undercuts the whole quick part of a quick buy.
Can't wait to get back in the verse. One more week of waiting and my pc will be running again
3.23 is truly a great patch! as usual requires a bit of polishing but what a joy it will be when fully operational
I've tried 3 times to play. Train never came at Babbage. Lost my mouse cursor, and jittery. 2nd couldn't get out of bed. 3rd time got out of bed, and clipped to the outside landing on a ledge.
Ollie should try and fly as close to the systems sun/star and see what happens
it looks so good! cant wait.
This is the content I was waiting for
Hurston has a radiation zone from weapons testing
Landing gear speed change kinda sucks means i cant do hot drops as fast as i use too
Hmmm....imagion terrain mapping mode for flying in weather low alt
i had a couple tears when they announced this
I has hoping Eva would have the " space walk "
I hope there is a way to disable minimap and the current weapon selection. Just feels like a bit much to me. Although everything else looks great.
This is so exciting!!
323 blew my mind, and I will join Citizenship after summer.
we should be able to use star map directly on the ship it really looks very dumb that you have to open a app on your hand inside your ship to select stuff, probably they will implement that
