Just tried it yesterday. Got A LOT of viewers after 30 minutes of streaming, then after a fiew minutes new viewers stopped coming.
Still, that live gave me a lot of views, hours of watchtime and some subs. I will surely use this tool in the future!
You got this!
@@vidIQ Thanks mate, I'm seeing a huge improvement in my content lately and my community is growing.
I'll keep working hard, eventually I will achieve my goals.
Huge thanks for your videos and your support!
Help me to 🙏🏼🙏🏼
video won't load but if this over powered feature is vertical livestreams ima lose it
It is
you won't be happy
Heads up... it is... try not to lose it
Please explain
How can i break this to u
I have a plug in on OBS that enables me to stream simultaneously to RUclips in Horizontal AND Vertical at the same time. Soo i just stream like normal and get double the eyeballs from two traffic sources. I also have a buffer set up with a hot key to the vertical stream so if a memorable moment happens, i hit the button and boom, its recorded in shorts format ready to make into a short. Makes life alot easier for me as a part time, small content creator
Did you have to put in your stream key in the vertical plug in? 🤔 I’ve wanted to try it but wasn’t sure in the effects it would have. You are the closest person to answer this question I’ve seen 😅
Hey! So you should see the option in RUclips when you schedule a stream to go live, if you look at your stream key you can 'edit' it. Basically it means you can make a SECOND key. So i have one named 'horizontal' and one named 'vertical' (original I know). I then scheduled two streams, one using the horizontal stream key and the other using vertical. The in obs one uses the horizontal and the OBS vertical plug in is linked to the vertical. Works great! Hope that answered your question? @@smiddog62gaming
Not sure if this is my second attempt at replying.... yay YT! XD If you schedule a live stream, youll notice you can 'edit' you stream key. Click it and you can create a SECONDs stream key. i have one named Horizontal and one named Vertical (original I know). Then you can go live like normal with your normal stream key and put your second, vertical key in your vertical OBS plugin and BOOM! works great! Hope that answers your question?@@smiddog62gaming
What is OBS?
According to what I was able to find on the RUclips support pages, vertical live is not available to all creators or is only available in some limited capacity. It appears that creators with less than 50 subs can't use vertical live at all and creators with between 50 and 1000 subs can use vertical live stream but their audience on the livestream is limited to their subs plus 25. According to the document I read it was done to "protect the community" which is somewhat odd because these limitations don't seem to exist on the regular live stream format.
I am at 130 subs I should be good
Maybe people have already mentioned this, but TikTok does have a "compatibility mode" that switches between Horizontal and Vertical live stream depending on your device's orientation or if you're viewing on a browser. It's a super neat feature.
this is very interesting! i've been thinking of doing vertical live streams!
I tried the vertical live stream during my last live stream. Funny thing is is I got 500 views compared to my 45 doing it that way. I was baffled, but now you’ve explained why I saw such a huge bump.
We got you!
I’ve never heard of any of these so kudos to you!!
As a TikTok livestreamer back in the day, this was not necessarily totally new to me from how you're describing it and from my experience, a ton of people surprisingly stuck around. Some for 20 to 35 minutes. Why? Who truly knows but it was a great experience and I hope RUclips continues to find the magical formula necessary to compete and out-muscle platforms like TikTok and Twitch. Cheers!
How did you get 1000 followers on tiktok? Any tips?
all right....we are on it. Stay tuned for a live from our channel in the next few days!
If this makes more people come to the live and gives watch time this is a massive monetization opportunity.
😮
Absolutely!
Most my views are from Shorts and my vertical live streams have done amazing. Going to keep trying!
Nice work!
I fail to see the appeal.
People on mobile can already consume your horizontal regular Livestream, while it's not optimal to watch a vertical one when you're on desktop.
It's like segmenting even more your audience.
Agreed, it seems kind of pointless
What about streaming both in landscape and portrait mode at the same time, how does one do that?
Do you have any tips how to take advantage of this feature for faceless channels like mine?
Is the Aitum Vertical plugin for OBS compatible with RUclips Vertical livestreams?
We are preparing for livestream shorts!
This might be good for creators to get a bigger audience but personally I've never liked the vertical format.
Each their own:) Many people watch live streams from their phones, so it makes sense.
Do we know if vertical livestreams count towards Hours Watched, or Shorts Views yet?
Have you guys played with the aitum plugin that allows you to stream to shorts and regular at the same time? Would love to hear about that.
Thanks for the information.
Does the watch time from vertical stream still count like a normal stream for monetization?
Thanks for a great explanation.
This feature intrigues me, but considering my live streams are me wearing headphones and chatting with guests, by setting up my phone to live stream along with my primary, non-vertical stream, will this mean my vertical stream will be delivered as a one sided conversation without being able to hear my guests?
Will give it a try
So, how do you do the vertical live stream?
Is it limited to your country (like tiktok lives) or you can choose the country/ language of the stream?
Can confirm. Tried this tonight thanks to your channel. Usually my normal streams get around 300 views, my vertical stream got 28k views. Went from 600 subs to over 1k in around 3 hours. Monetised in one night. Over powered is not the term. Thanks vidiq!!
Question- Can you multi-stream so RUclips normal live and shorts live? If you have the vertical obs plugin and second where is the VOD stored? 🤔
Someone above commented that they managed to do that yeah
I hope everyone has a blessed day and good luck on your channels
Thanks, and same to you!
Very interesting, thank you for the update!
Anytime!
Is it possible to multi stream vertical and horizontal at the same time and they just be 2 different live streams? For example I have seen creators go live horizontally on RUclips and vertically on TikTok. I am not sure if it would be possible to do this on the same platform, just a thought.
Wow, this is a great idea! Go @RUclips!
let’s go guys! Our channels will grow up faster this year! 😂
periodt
We got this!
@@UGC_Channel Oh Yeah!😃
What about the new languages feature? I think thats the biggest opportunity YT is about to open up to creators. With the ability to upload your content in different languages opens the potential for way more views and for small creators to be able to grow faster because the audience is now much much wider!
Yea I'm more interested in that and A-B thumbnail testing instead of this.
@@Rufio1975Me too tbh.
@@QualifiedOutcast
Hopefully they hurry up and put that out.
Based on comments from community post, seems ppl don't really like shorts
It depends on your audience. I like watching shorts every now and then when in between meetings, but I have friends in real life who despise them.
i forgot about doing this ! always wanna try going live! will try it after 24 hours!
Let us know how it goes!
Man I got the courage to turn on live and got told I need more shorts. With 62 subscribers. Thinking about setting up a scheduled live in the future but not really in a rush.
Dose it count towards your public watch time for monetization?
I'm not interested in working harder for advertisers who aren't Creator Friendly.
It appears to me that the watch hours from vertical count, BUT only what is viewed as a VOD.
Keep in mind I've done 7 of these streams. Not a huge sample size, but not nothing either
That vertical/horizontal feature exists on tiktok. It’s called compatibility mode.
Damn was hoping it was the release of the A/B tests
It’s already released, just available to the limited amount of creators.
This is very interesting! I've been thinking about doing vertical live streams for e-bike tours in 2024 ;-)
Go for it!
The year of the small RUclipsr
Good Luck to all Of you!!!✌️❤ Love From South Africa🇿🇦
Good luck to you as well!
Imagine everytime youre watching shorts, when scrolling down, its just vertical livestream everywhere🗿
I’m curious if from OBS you can live stream to Twitch while vertical streaming to RUclips. Most of my success at RUclips is with Shorts and while I want to convert them, Shorts brings them in. I do interactive word games and use OBS to virtual camera over to TikTok Live studio while doing normal streaming to Twitch.
Ideally….I’d use a 3-party to stream to Twitch normal, RUclips vertically, and then TikTok via the virtual OBS camera into TikTok Studio. So I’m not pushing to 3 locations at once, although I can support 2 with no issues.
I might be asking for too much at this point lol
HEY, let's work together and get Sean "not a gamer" to 1,000+ subscrrbers.
I tried it Sunday and it was a total bust. I had custom scenes set up and was streaming at a high bitrate. I think it looked good. I got half the views my horizontal stream got. I guess that's still a plus. I did get a higher conversion rate for new subs during that stream. I chalk it up to the fact that I haven't been making Shorts like at all lately, so YT probably didn't have an audience to push me out to. I'll keep trying for a while, but probably just a few more streams because it is a real hassle and does limit other things I can do...well if I'm dual streaming, which you just said we shouldn't do.
My shorts were getting decent amount of views, and all of a sudden... BARELY NOTHING!. Frustrating and kinda makes you lose motivation :(
Yay, something else to get in the way of my long form content searches 🙄
My hope is that lives (both horizontal and vertical) will be served by their own unique algorithm and that lives won't interfere with shorts or long-form content in how views are counted or how the rest of the videos perform in a channel.
This is an off topic question, but when will Jamaica be eligible for superchats and super thanks, I'm monetized but the adscence portion isn't generating much.
i test it last week and i got double the views on my stream which is nice :D
Looking forward in using this feature. Meanwhile, I am enjoying starting my youtube channel
I like that RUclips are evolving and creating new ways of creating RUclips videos. Great video. Just wandering why is my RUclips likes disappearing?🤔
So my question is would the hours from that livestream go towards your shorts or your regular hours towards partner.
Regular.Shorts requirement is views, not watch time.
@@DougHewsonYT ok so would it count towards your shorts views as people come in and go.
@@MrAngryTroll no, because it’s not a Short.
@@DougHewsonYT ok cool just a question bc of a new feature. People may want to try to monetize on it
@@MrAngryTroll no problem 👍
Hmm can i use this vertical live stream in my gaming live??
Why not, just framing will be different.
Have what I realize now is probably a dumb question - does the livestream automatically become a short? I guess not because it is longer than a minute. Does it automatically become a video on your channel when it is finished?
it does become a video on your channel once you're finished, just like regular horizontal livestreams.
Should be automatic unless you turned that feature off 😉
I would use it if I could do both formats at the same time since I already stream on Twitch, YT, Titkok and Kick at the same time
Someone mentioned an OBS plugin above that allows to do that.
Not trying to self promote here, but I also tested the vertical livestreams as well, and the data mentioned in this video pretty much lines up with what I was seeing. I do horizontal streams here on RUclips, and I average 5-6 concurrent viewers on most streams. The vertical stream I did peaked at 70 viewers near the start, but by the end I was back to 6-7 viewers. I do think this was because people were curious as to what I was gonna do, and then after 5-6 minutes they scrolled away. Overall, I do think for anyone that makes shorts, I would do streams if they align with your shorts. Do I think this will translate to people moving from the RUclips Shorts stream to a regular stream? Probably not, but I could be wrong 🤷♂
Last time you guys ignored me, so I will type this here for everybody who don't know how to multistream on RUclips.
1. Make sure to have 2 stream keys: one for horizontal and one for vertical streaming.
2. Use OBS and the Vertical plugin.
3. Make 2 Schedules on RUclips.
4. Go to your OBS and go to "Manage Broadcast" button that should be right next to the "Start Streaming" button and click on "Select Existing Broadcast" to choose the schedule.
5. Go to the Vertical plugin's settings (on the right) and go to "Streaming" and add the information from your vertical stream schedule on RUclips.
6. Once you are done with everything, use both buttons for streaming on the horizontal and vertical screens on OBS.
7. You're welcome.
Im pretty bummed.. did you guys dump the thumbnail maker for youtube studio? Mine has disappeared 😢
Cheers for featuring my bonsai
RUclips need to improve there UI for the mobile app, I would actually like to posts to be more accessible
In the thumbnail he realized the power of getting views
Do the vertical streams count towards watch hours???
That's the real question!!
I used this feature today and tbhnits very good they need to make it so you can have moderates to block and allow comments as comments as hit the like and subscribe button get blocked and you have to allow the comment wich is hard when you have your hands full
Can confirm that this is definitely a numbers boost, if nothing else. I'm seeing about 1/4 of the audience retention than a normal horizontal livestream. However, I am averaging about double the regular concurrent viewers and about 300-400 subscribers per stream (which is highly unusual for me. Maybe 50-100 average before? I guess it makes sense since there's a fat subscribe button right there when you're watching on mobile.) TBD on how this will affect the channel. So far I'm just treating it as vanity metrics. I'm close enough to 100k that this extra boost does matter!
Omg im a huge fan Edit btw i was here in 48 seconds🎉
Btw can we play rr?
How about implement that op to normal streams!
If the stream is a quare, does it still counts as a "vertical stream"? that'd kind of give us the best of both worlds
As a musician, went live on vertical playing covers and then got ABSOLUTELY SLAPPED with 8 different content claims in about 30mins after the live! Ineligible for monetisation. Just as a musician, be aware of this if you are coming from Twitch streaming covers.
Right now I don't have the means to livestream on a computer (I have a desktop but I would need a laptop for it) and mobile horizontal streaming is still "clunky", I guess? I don't know. It might be a good idea to try.
flip the camera, they flip phone? and voila, horizontal.. or does this not wrk ?
Me, with 911 Subs, getting the notification to reacht 50 Subs.
Yes, I am not lying, I literally still get that stupid ass Notification
Ha, imagine I am live broadcasting, walking down the beach, and having rando people jump in my A/V zone. Most of the elderly women want to talk with me, ask me questions, and tell me how great their family is doing. Raw, unedited, and live? The A/V wagon might hit the sand soon...
Live and Unfiltered.
to me, vertical live stream always feel like something low quality no matter what
Hello everyone, thank you for sharing. It's very good, very useful, very wonderful
I don’t think this is that overpowered
How can I go live but just with audio without showing face
Just stay behind the camera and not in front of it
I made an A/V wagon and am planning to try it out. You can see it on my community page.
Watching this at school rn
I received a notification from RUclips stating that any video in our short music video library may receive a copyright claim if the volume exceeds a specific threshold. Consequently, a claim will be triggered once this volume threshold is met.
I thought the add before this video was this video lol
The only lives I found were in foreign languages, nothing in English. It's strange. One even didn't show an video! I will try my own soon.
I love streamyard just that adding my logo isn't apart of the free package.
RUclips need to realize that Vertical format really limit creators specially like me who need wider shot.
Can you please address the problem with literally every youtube short having the same 6 songs? I feel it would be very lucrative
Ironically these vertical livestreams can be a lot longer than your longform content.
I've tried this 3 times so far, it does give extra views and new people show up, but nothing special. It's kinda fun streaming in vertical and making a vertical canvas. I get maybe 1/3rd the amount of views of my horizontal livestream that's running concurrently and a few watch hours while live, but not nearly as good as the horizontal. I imagine I have to keep trying, but the feature, so far, is definitely nowhere near as good as it's been portrayed by some people here on RUclips. I am not a YT Shorts creator though, if that counts for anything in terms of algorithm.
Seems like as big of a waste of time as shorts themselves.
Isn't a lower retention on a vertical live stream kind of expected? The longer the live session, the less confortable it gets for spectators, unless they are sitting in a good chair and watching on a big screen. Does that make sense?
🔥🔥
thats good
I am actually going viral right now. But, i discovered something and that is why I kind of knew the viral thing was coming. I don't need to do vertical live streams.
I’ve never seen this as I mostly like watching normal or long videos and not shorts.
Would there be an issue if you were doing a livestream in public and there is music in the background as you are doing it? Uncontrollable background music.
Happens all the time. most of the time its just a copyright claim and just hurts monetization on that stream
@TheDIZPod-LawrenceWilson I figured as much today will be a test run so not a big deal I guess
@@tattoosinreview and it really depends. We stream from the Disney parks 3 times a week and we will get hit with plenty of copyrights. You can trim that part out, mute it or dispute it. Disputing is the hardest. We normally just trim it out.
Thank God
Vertical streaming changed the entire website
What happened to the hashtag feature I pay $50 per month to use that saves me time??? It's gone 😢😢
Vertical livestreams do NOT appear in the Shorts feed. I have tried to find vertical livestreams in my Shorts feed on multiple accounts. I have never seen a single livestream in my Shorts feed on any of my accounts.
Pause any short then you'll see a live icon. Click on the icon it will take you to the vertical feed automatically
I'm all for having options and different ways to create content. What I DON'T like is when the platform seems to mandate that you use a certain platform because that's the one they want to push right now. I think RUclips favors the thing they want to make popular at any given time by giving that platform way more attention from the algorythm. I joined as a long form creator and long form content is what I want to do. I shouldn't see my views or traffic diminishing in any way because another style is the hot new thing youtube wants to push right now. I'm just really getting my legs under me on youtube and it seems like they're changing everything the platform was built on, to the detriment of long form creators.
