I think that if we can figure out a decent support pokemon to let moltres spam fiery wrath then it can be decent. It won't become the new rillaboom but it has some potential to become something like a coalossal type pokemon, albeit with a little lower ceiling but higher floor
Its ability would be alot harder to utilize considering that the enemy team can double target it, preventing its ability from activating. But then again that can also mean really strong pressure if paired with another major threat like Lando or something like that as galar moltres is almost always living at least 1 hit which will boost it. So overall i think it’ll fit a pretty strong niche if used with care
Moltres is really good in both singles and doubles thanks to Berserk. Not to the point that it’s gonna get banned, but it gains like a pseudo-reverse card that nobody can underestimate. However, Galarian Moltres lives up to it’s origin: It cannot die, if you hit it neutrally. Even Specs mind blown can be lived if you run only max health and calm nature. Considering it has no reliable recovery, the only item I think is viable are either gonna be weakness policy or leftovers. Most used doesn't necessarily mean best. Take toxapex in singles: it's one of the best mons but a lot of people just don't like to use it. With that said, I would say that it's about even with zapdos and either could be argued to be better. Both different roles and they both are good in their roles.
Okay but hear me out: moltres with weakness policy + comfey lead, comfey hits moltres with draining kiss if opposing pokemon aren't exerting offensive pressure, down to half health, activates weakness policy and berserk to deal massive damage, floral healing next turn, then rinse and repeat or adjust as necessary. Alternatively, moltres comfey lead, protect comfey turn one, sub on moltres, then either sub again next turn for berserk bonus if the sub is broken or click nasty plot if it isn't.
Aaron Cybertron Zhang and foofootoo have some pretty cool Galarian Moltres teams! Weakness policy Moltres with comfey/raichu support to self proc, it’s been putting in the work. I think nasty plot is a massive buff to this thing too. If u can read an opponent protecting or not hitting moltres, then constant max airstreams after a NP boost with Berserk and Weakness Policy turn this thing into a monster. Also, assault vest with snarl support sounds ugly. I love it.
Moltres-G feels like a good Dynamax mon with Weakness policy... and a good partner to pair with Yveltal... The big flaw it has is that it lacks a lot of coverage power... I do see it potentially useful with Fiery Wrath, Air Slash, Taunt, and Protect.... Snarl and Imprison is a useful combo too if you want to prevent enemy Snarl users like Incineroar and Arcanine...
I could see Nasty Plot being fire actually. Here's a random brainstorming set: Max speed Timid, with the rest of our investment in bulk. We run Nasty Plot, Fiery Wrath, Hurricane/Air Slash, and whatever in the last slot (maybe just Dark Pulse). Our item is Sitrus Berry. The idea is that +2 G-Moltres is kinda scary, but since Berserk is pretty damn reliable to give at least one boost, we'll often go to +3 all in one turn, then get back above the 50% threshold again with the berry. Alternatively, with the right situation we could run Weakness Policy to potentially jump to +5 in a single turn which would be hilarious (albeit, overkill. and would leave Moltres at too low of a health threshold to do much more that game).
Its mostly used on showdown w weakness policy; fiery wrath, air slash, protect and nasty plot. Partnered up with comfey, who can activate the WP before fake out and can heal it so berserk can be activated multiple times. Its insanely good imo.
You can run moltres with a cleric of sorts, preferrably Comfey which can activate Moltres's Weakness Policy with Draining Kiss and heal it back above half health with floral healing.
Amoonguss can Rage Powder to give Yveltal Jr. a relatively safe nasty plot or sub, then pollen puff to get its HP back above 50%. Yveltal Jr. slaughters psychic types, Amoonguss sponges Fairy and Electric moves. Spore on rock slide users.
Okay it’s probably an error but the serebii page of fiery wrath says that the move is not affected by protect. If that’s true that would be big. But, again, it’s probably an error since it’s a new move. (The other galarian birds’ signature moves also are not affected by protect accordinf to serebii)
You might be able to abuse berserk by using sub or just getting hit a bit, then having leftovers and a teammate that does a tiny bit of damage so every turn you can use that, go under half health, nuke someone, then heal back to over half at the end of the turn. It would be hard to set up though because any opposing attacks would probably ruin it
Most I've seen of Moltres is Weakness policy + comfy. Comfy running floral healing, taunt, draining kiss and trick room. Max moves help with all of its issues. Airstream can buff it's speed and it's tanky enough during dynamax to take the hit. Darkness will drop sp def which might help with tankier enemies that sp atk raises might not be enough
I honestly think this one is the strongest bird, with weakness policy it can get 150% damage boost, meaning it will be at 250%. Its move is also pretty good and in max its move is a pseudeo damage boost with the special defense drop on opponents. There is pretty much nothing bad about it.
Sadness he didn't mention WP moltres+Comfey... the thing is next to broken at that point. floral healing is the best way to abuse berserk because it has the ability to heal so much, and it actually makes a noticeable difference when dynamaxed if grassy terrain is up.
Check this out the youtuber foofootoo came up with us. But use comfey with it because it has an ability that makes healing moves priority and gets draining kiss so it can proc moltreses weakness policy as well as heal him to keep getting the besets trigger and then you run nasty plot. So you could potentially in one turn raise his special attack 5 times and then heal him up the next turn.
I've just played a few online, and this bird can be insane, in one turn, it used foul play, I activated weakness policy and then the berserk boost, +5 sp attack in 1 turn, it then just swept my entire team
Quick note! It turns out after testing that passive damage will not activate Berserk, meaning Substitute doesn't work. @@JP-zb3yb The first few days the other 2 birds were favorite but now moltres is rising. I do really believe he is the best of the 3 options aswell
In vgc is the best but the fan favorite is zapdos for sure is a chocobo and the shiny is the golden chocobo.
Most used doesn't necessarily mean best. Take toxapex in singles: it's one of the best mons but a lot of people just don't like to use it. With that said, I would say that it's about even with zapdos and either could be argued to be better. Both different roles and they both are good in their roles.
@@SPZ-gv2on that could be the case I honestly know nothing about singles. what i meant to say is moltres is the best in doubles/vgc
Has Wolfe noticed that the galar birds shinys are just the kanto birds color palette
I'm naming my galar Moltres Waluigi after seeing the sick burns you give the enemy out of jealousy
i think most common set is weakness policy with comfey
Aaron Cybertron Zhang and foofootoo have some pretty cool Galarian Moltres teams! Weakness policy Moltres with comfey/raichu support to self proc, it’s been putting in the work. I think nasty plot is a massive buff to this thing too. If u can read an opponent protecting or not hitting moltres, then constant max airstreams after a NP boost with Berserk and Weakness Policy turn this thing into a monster.
Also, assault vest with snarl support sounds ugly. I love it.
When is regigagigas wideo coming?
Looking very Presidential today Wolfe 👌🏼👌🏼
I’d say citrus berry is the best way/ most consistent way of activating berserk more than once, however does max it out at twice
Take a shot every time Wolfey says “Um”
Alternatively, with the right situation we could run Weakness Policy to potentially jump to +5 in a single turn which would be hilarious (albeit, overkill. and would leave Moltres at too low of a health threshold to do much more that game).
i didn't realise it's signature hit both targets, i also think not having tailwind hurts moltes quite a bit
i really like the substitute idea and i havent seen anyone do that yet
Its mostly used on showdown w weakness policy; fiery wrath, air slash, protect and nasty plot. Partnered up with comfey, who can activate the WP before fake out and can heal it so berserk can be activated multiple times. Its insanely good imo.
Wolfe!! Where is the draconian cosplay!?!!!
Nice thumbnail, confused nick young is probably my fav meme 😂
You can run moltres with a cleric of sorts, preferrably Comfey which can activate Moltres's Weakness Policy with Draining Kiss and heal it back above half health with floral healing.
Nice video, Wolfy!
of all the new legendaries, this is the one i hope you take to the #1 spot
Quick note : all the galatians birds shines originate to their kantonian form
I like how the shiny galarian birds use the og kanto colors
I'm really happy you see such potential in Darktres, it's my favourite galar bird but I was so disappointed by its stats and movepool at first
Amoonguss can Rage Powder to give Yveltal Jr. a relatively safe nasty plot or sub, then pollen puff to get its HP back above 50%. Yveltal Jr. slaughters psychic types, Amoonguss sponges Fairy and Electric moves.
It would be hard to set up though because any opposing attacks would probably ruin it
Molres with a weakness policy dynamaxing and air stream might in one turn get +3 spe atck, +1 spe
Real youtubists talk about moltres, it is the only bird without an intro
Most I've seen of Moltres is Weakness policy + comfy. Comfy running floral healing, taunt, draining kiss and trick room. Max moves help with all of its issues. Airstream can buff it's speed and it's tanky enough during dynamax to take the hit. Darkness will drop sp def which might help with tankier enemies that sp atk raises might not be enough
I’m pretty sure all of the Galarian Bird shinies are based on the colors of the originals.
I like then other birds' shinies, but I don't like Galarian Moltres's shiny because it looks like mustard and ketchup lol
I honestly think this one is the strongest bird, with weakness policy it can get 150% damage boost, meaning it will be at 250%. Its move is also pretty good and in max its move is a pseudeo damage boost with the special defense drop on opponents. There is pretty much nothing bad about it.
Hey Wolfey, can you make a Metagross guide??
Sadness he didn't mention WP moltres+Comfey... the thing is next to broken at that point. floral healing is the best way to abuse berserk because it has the ability to heal so much, and it actually makes a noticeable difference when dynamaxed if grassy terrain is up.
So basically in 1-on-1 scenarios Moltres is Pokemon's Kaido.
Wolfe you do know that the shinies of the galarian birds are just their original formes colours right?
you can also use an assault vest set with Snarl and works great.
I’ve been using a bulky policy moltres with 196 hp, max special attack, 60 speed. I’m not sure how good it is I’m just having fun with it :)
Cheeto guy> cheeto fingers > the cheeto tiger
Check this out the youtuber foofootoo came up with us. But use comfey with it because it has an ability that makes healing moves priority and gets draining kiss so it can proc moltreses weakness policy as well as heal him to keep getting the besets trigger and then you run nasty plot. So you could potentially in one turn raise his special attack 5 times and then heal him up the next turn.
We love you Wolfe
Petition to make Wolfey a cheetoh permanently.
I've just played a few online, and this bird can be insane, in one turn, it used foul play, I activated weakness policy and then the berserk boost, +5 sp attack in 1 turn, it then just swept my entire team
I meant nasty plot, not foul play
Nobody:
Wolfey: "I'm Cheeto Man today."
Wolfe i just want to say you're quirky, dry humor makes me laugh. You're funny as fuck, never change who you are.
Shiny Galar birds look so darn good
