- In this second episode of our new escape series, our octopus displays some pretty amazing skills that testify not only to its intelligence but also to its jaw-dropping dexterity.
This highly cooperative and tame individual was placed into a woman’s handbag (just like a well-behaved chihuahua).
Even though this octopus had no previous experience with a zipper, it took it less than a couple of minutes to carefully unzip the bag and break free.
To honor its achievement, we decided to call this octopus Zipper. We hope that you enjoy watching Zipper’s deft use of arms and suckers and as always, we look forward to hearing some of your ideas for the next episodes of our escape series.
"In his purse at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming"
Does our octopus prefer Fendi or Gucci? nope, it's good ol' ceramic ball. Home sweet home
Ouch Ouch Ouch Ouch: Overherd as a tentacle gets caught in the zipper...
You cant get caught in a zipper that you are UN-zipping!
I luv about the 1 min. mark he is out of bag and then continues to 'look' at the camera. It's like he's saying, "Really! This is a test we put nursery school octopod through! Insult to Octopi intelligence!" lol ;) Reminds me of "The silence of the Lambs" moment when Hannibal Lecter say's to Clarice, "Jack Crawford sent a TRAINEE to ME!!!" :)
Thank u so much for opening our eyes to these amazing animals. They are so adorable and intelligent.
I want to see how you got the octopus into the bag to begin with I know that is going to be a funny video to watch.
I imagine it's something along the lines of trying to get a cat into a bathtub, just with more legs and fewer claws.
Precisely! I believe we may be missing the REALLY funny bit! (Between you and I tho, I dont think I could take all of the belly-aching over how WORRIED they are! Like..look! The person above is talking about him getting "caught in the zipper"! You cant get "caught in a zipper" that you are freaking UN-zipping! LMAO!
I thought the very same thing! Hahahahahaha!
"First I'll escape this bag, then the food chain"
Jai genius!
Ok, ya got the bag.. but good luck finding 8 shoes to match it.
He looks so pleased with himself. As he should.❣️
One step for octopus, a giant paddle for octokind
If he could not escape, he was going to end up at an ice hockey game 😱🥶
Wonder how many ppl it needed to put this guy into that bag, lol
Octopi are extremely smart!
Instead of bothering to unzip the entire top of the bag, Zipper used the normal octopus technique of oozing gracefully through a small opening - and then went and hid inside the sphere-with-the-hole-in-it. Hey, Zip, you could have gotten the same effect by staying in the bag. (I always feel sorry for those "purse pooches" - especially when they need a short walk to take care of business. But I admire octopuses too much to want to keep one in my purse. Besides, he'd probably eat my makeup.
Sometime in the near past, there was a wealthy dilettante strolling down Fifth Avenue who paused to reach into her bag for a tissue. The screams...Oh God, the screams...
You made me spit my milk! :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
What a smart boy/girl!!! ♥️
What a smart cookie
Whew! He didn't collapse from trauma like the lantern. He got up quickly and swam for his safe hiding place. I'm relieved he came through much better this time.
Smart!👍🏻
How would you be, being a purse snatcher and having an octopus reach out and being all like "I'm about to end this man's whole career" ????
Brute body force in action.
8-legger “that’s the best you got?”
That slippery mofo is a genious! My cat would have died in that bag!
That is sexy! I can see the octopus doing this routine for clams on the sea bed!
After he escaped, he changed color a bit T think it was a celebratory color change! He looked proud! I mean, there is NO doubt what he is doing! Because he comes to the front by the glass and swims back and forth looking at you, right?!?!
Hello mom. I'm fine. M-hm! I'm riding to a forest... In the trunk... In many bags.
Can Zipper be able to open one of plastic storage drawers from the inside? Let’s give it a shot to see how he can open the drawer and get out.
So, let's register: Zipper - no challenge for him (or her?) :D :D
Ha, easy one
Ha ha ha
Most entertaining two minutes on RUclips!
Can’t believe I have developed tender feelings for
Octopus! Formerly considered as a blob in ocean!
Cool :-) Can I order one ?
Can we get a video on how one acts when it is released in the wild (if you have cameras that can film in ocean)
I would like to see the octopus put into the bag please and thank you
They are so darn smart! Sad that the life span is so short. I read it has to do with an optic gland? I wish I understood the dynamics of how the optic gland --quote Octopus reproductive organs mature due to the hormonal influence of the optic gland but result in the inactivation of their digestive glands, typically causing the octopus to die from starvation.End quote. How cruel nature is or evolution. If they were long lived I think they would be walking and swimming the earth and masters of Earth! I am Greek and could never eat them. uuuuugh.
How did you get that 🐙 into that bag?
I don't remember your octopus's name but I think she has a great personality 👾
Song name?
pfft not even louis vitton or chanel what do you think of me hooman , piece of cheap trash !? gimme a challenge ;P
Such a little cutie
That was some serious side-eye.
I love your beautiful video intros. I always skip other channel's intros but not yours.👍
Great Channel!
the music on this channel is getting superb.. Any way to contribute?
All these years and bags I’ve bought, I’ve never received a gift with purchase like that!
Not unlike Cameron Diaz extending her leg in that film...🤔...Vanilla Sky?
My dumb ass : what if he suffocates in the bag 👁️👄👁️
❤❤❤
Ha! You are no match for ME the King of the Sea!! Good Night Sir!
Can cuttlefish do these things too?
Octopus is sooooo smart
How did you get him into the bag?
I think it’s cruel to make these creatures do human tricks just to entertain our curiosity.
Octopods are very intelligent and naturally seek stimuli to entertain themselves, and if not provided with them get anxious and start exhibiting self-destructive behaviour. So this is actually not bad for it. I recommend reading up on things before jumping to conclusions. Especially that people at Octolab are professionals, it's wierd to me that so many people voice their concerns against professionals without even basic knowledge on the subject.
now can we see if it'll go to target and return these shoes?
I felt like any moment, that old-timey striptease music was gonna start playing. Lol! 😂😂
