I have a diagnosed phobia of bare feet (podophobia) and agoraphobia. I only leave my house for appointments, which are infrequent (about once a month). I "know" where both my phobias stem from, and knowing that helps me (and my husband) conquer those moments where my agoraphobia must be faced.

I have always been uneasy in public places, but it wasn't until being subjected to severe domestic violence for four years that I got triggered into an actual panic attack after getting in an extremely crowded self checkout line with an overly helpful and invasive clerk who assumed I didn't know how to operate the self checkout. I was, in fact, dealing with the situational overstumulation and trying to manage my anxiety (I am also diagnosed ADHD) and therefore taking my time. She came right up into my personal space, actually reaching over my shoulder to work the touchscreen without even a by your leave. My instinctual reaction trigger wanted to throw a defensive elbow up into her face, repeatedly. I instead blurted out rather forcefully that I needed her to get out of my space IMMEDIATELY. I was hyperventilating and shaking uncontrollably and couldn't get my stuff and get out fast enough. I broke down in hysterical tears in my truck and sniveled the whole way home. This is as near to a phobia as I have ever experienced. I prefer to shop at around 9-11 pm when most people don't shop and I don't really go out at all. Honestly, I would rather go hiking with a backpack full of questionable fish in grizzly country than I would go into a crowded public space. At least the bears are predictable.

if my anxiety is high, then elevators, small rooms, crowds. but I dont think of those issues as phobias, more like anxiety. or panic-inducing. and come to think of it, i wouldnt be surprised if loads of people shared these phobias / anxieties

I would wish to hear more on negligence cases in the mental health field as these are becoming very common in the general medical field.

Your randomness is awesome LOL hey I have a question, re: lockdowns pandemic etc .. do you expect there may be more diagnoses of OCD and agoraphobia? Just asking for a friend.. yea nah it's me: hypervigilant handwashing, cleaning doorknobs, sanitising everything, increasing fear to go out, decline socialising, shopping at the actual crack of dawn to avoid people. Is there a proper term for all that? aside from paranoid egg?

I got a phobia of swimming, as a kid I jumped into a pool and sank to the bottom, I was saved but a few months later I saw a two year old drowning, my Mum saved the two year old's life. Since then if someone is trying to teach me to swim and my face goes near the water I have a panic attack. I also have a phobia of blood and well, kind of anything medical.

Usually I reply with a sense of humour but not in this case. Apart from Mrs Pippins botched operation I can take 90% of this case and apply to my own. I developed a spinal problem called Caudia Equine Syndrome. I had 3 spinal operations that weren't botched but were successful to a point. It's like putting a plaster on gun shot wound to the head. I'm kind of OK for a few months after the operations but I'm in constant pain and I only take heavy duty painkillers when I can't stand the pain anymore. I can have a prescription for them any time I want them but I don't because....and thinking about it , it could be a phobia...., but I don't want to become addicted to them. I'm talking about Oxicontan , Tramadol , Lyrica and other morphine related medication. I've developed Agoraphobia because I keep falling and walking more than 10 feet is a problem so I need a wheelchair which I refuse to use or a walker which I use around the house going from room to room.
It has left me with semi incontinence which mean I actually do need the bathroom a lot if I ever go out so I don't go out only to hospital appointments and I have to plan it physically a week in advance and mentally I'm constantly planning it out from the time I get the letter for the appointments which are months in advance. Physically it's a problem and mentally it's frustrating and my life has changed dramatically. Thankfully my son and daughter are grown up , my son is 33 and married to one of the best people I have known and my daughter is 27 who lives at home and works from home due the covid situation but goes down to stay with her fiancee from Friday to Tuesday and their family celebrations etc.
Guilt is a big problem as I've gone from a busy full time working mother who thrived on stressful situations, problem solving and raising my 2 children on my own and going to the park with my 2 German Shepherds who are built like grand national horses and drove people everywhere. All the above are gone. I just can't do it anymore. My sense of humour helps for a while but I get very depressed and yes I've had suicidal thoughts due to the pain and feeling like a burden. Thankfully I've recognised this and rang my GP for help who made an appointment for me with the mental health clinic who help a lot and have involved me with coming up with a plan for these thoughts and it's triggers and phone numbers etc.
I'm left with a lot of phobias and a lot of time to think about them. Honestly the covid isolation was and is not a problem for me as being Agoraphobic means I don't have to go to hospital appointments for my newly diagnosed diabetes or my newly diagnosed thyroid swelling but I have to keep getting biopsies for that but thankfully it's only once a year. Most of my appointments are now done by phone.
My physical situation has brought their friends to the party and they are called mental health issues and they are all having a grand time. Thankfully my sense of humour comes to the party most times but leaves early.
I bet you won't ask for comments the next time 😁

@@APsychForSoreMinds I actually forgot to mention that when I was let home my mother was acting very odd. I thought it might be dimensia but when I got my GP to into it , it turned out to be incurable brain cancer I was let out of hospital so I could help her but the spinal surgary wouldn't let me do certain things. Then I noticed by favourite dog was looking a bit odd too. His sides were protruding. I brought him to vet and iit turned out he had cancer of tge kidneys . I was devastated. I felt like the bad news wouldn't stop coming all in the same year. I held my dog while the vet took away Hustler's pain and my mother passed away in hospital a few weeks after on September 2 2006. I hate 2006. It's a good job I'm a grounded person as I was born on Friday 13 th and might start up a club 😂

I have spinal cord compression so I am in a wheelchair. I’m being fitted February 4th for my new one. They aren’t awful to get used to, the one I get are custom built and are amazingly comfortable. My son is at university and my daughter is a junior in high school and they’re both doing very well.
I hope you’re doing alright. It looks like you’re going through so much. Please keep in touch with your doctors. I’m glad that you’re able to talk to them and get the help you need. ❤️ take care.

@@Jaggededge112 thank you so much ❤ if I didn't have my sense of humour I would be much worse. If I have to go to the hospital I push the wheelchair for a while until I can't stand the pain then my son or daughter push me but while I'm pushing it I get very odd looks and my daughter will tell people I'm out for the day with my invisible friend whose in the wheelchair chair 😂 .
I hope your fitting goes well. It's hard adjusting to new wheelchairs and things when your old one feels like home

@@San_Teel people act like they’ve never seen anyone that’s an ambulatory wheelchair user. Good on your daughter for telling them that. She inherited your sense of humor which is great 😊. It can be a jarring feeling at first moving into a new wheelchair but soon enough you’ll be used to it. I’m thinking of getting the same kind I have now just slightly smaller and the back shorter with a different seat cushion.
I went through a very emotional December with two deaths and one year anniversary of my best friends passing. My aunt passed away (Alzheimers) on the one year anniversary of my best friends passing (horrific motor vehicle accident other driver at fault) I didn’t even hear about her passing until October 3, 2021 so it’s still very fresh and raw for me. My other friend passed away December 1 from Covid. He was vaccinated but had a bad heart which contributed to his passing. My kids are the only things that kept me from spiraling down.

I've been through medocal trauma ans I'm sure this woman had too, and I suffer the consequences so often of certain medocal procedures are on TV I have flashbacks ans panic attacks ans if I have to go to a certain hospital or certain wards in that hopsital despite the fact that I always will need to due to my progressive chronic illness I have panic attacks and flashbacks there's so much more but if you wouod make a video on medical ptsd I wouod totally watch however bei g I.
