@billy : what listening system did you use while doing this mix ? IEMs ? Headphones? Small studio monitors ? Bigger monitors ? And what were you trying to achieve when eqing the main LR bus here ? Just taming frequencies that were sticking out in the overall mix ? Also : very impressed at how fast you EQ ! Great video, great mix, cool songs !
I used IEM’s plugged into the zoom recorder so I could hear clipping if it happened. I think of my 2buss eq and compressor like mastering. The eq smoothes out any frequency builds and a gentle 1.5:1 compressor acts like glue. I mix with the vocals way up so that the 2buss compressor and eq locks them in. Thanks for the kind words!
Your pre amp levels are fairly low. Not getting into the yellow and achieving line level with the inputs. Looks like you’re one of those “set gain based on faders at 0” guys? Don’t get me wrong I prefer to mix with faders at 0. But I don’t determine gain based on that. Gain up to analog 0 which is -18 on m32. If all faders are too low, then the master fader comes down. Or the PA is too hot. This usually results in a fairly low mix output level. Which yours is also barely in the yellow. Wouldn’t work well if you had to feed other matrices, fills, or other destinations that don’t have a ton of power to rely on achieving volume
If it´s enough to make the output where you need it, then it´s not necessary to make it to -18db... during peaks it will sure go to -18 or beyond.. you need some headroom for that..
Man you make it look easy, fast and efficient. Hope to be like you someday.
Awww thanks! It’s just practice. I’ve been on the M32 since 2018. They are also very easy to use.

I noticed you are using an M32R. I am in need of a hands on tutorial for this one. Any ideas, thank you.

I am newbie. Can i get this mixing preset file? Thanks for your help 🙏🙏🙏
Don’t trust anyone’s show file. You never know what booby traps will be in there. I show you how I set everything up including my FX in other videos
Thank you. Can you make a video how to set a routing and mix bus, subgroup from scratch? I want to learn it. Thank you sir 🥰

It’s a DAW mix from the card input. No analog inputs sources were harmed during the making of this video.
I’m aware, but those meters DO reflect what your input gain was at the moment of capturing into the DAW, assuming nothing was changed within the DAW
man ... WHY YOU APPLIED A EQ AND COMP in the main ? it's very stupid , eq the main was usefull only for the audio wedging (callage systeme)
your gain are extremely low to do something proper. they must all be at -18db
