    Thank you sooo much for this 1 year review lol I’ve been looking for a new coffeemaker for 3 days now and those bad reviews every where have made it hard for me to go with ANY option I find. Your honesty and realistic feedback is so appreciated. And you made me laugh which I’m very grateful for too haha. Keep it up! So refreshing

    Thanks for the nice review Rocket! I received a DCC 3200 for Christmas from my kids, who think I need a new one. I have a Mr. Coffee, which is working perfectly at this time, and really doesn't need replacing . Mine is just a 12 cup, but it's enough for me. It's been working fine for the last year and a half, so I'll keep the DCC for later, when Mr. Coffee goes South! Thanks again.

    At last, a coffee maker review where you can actually see the steam rising from the pot and the cup, most others look like it's lukewarm at best. Really good review, well done.

    Lol, your cleaning of the carafe towards the end was funny!! Great music, too. 😀 Very good points about the strengths of the product. Thank you for taking the time to include your tip about the importance of running the brew cycle10 times using only water to ensure any manufacturing smells are removed. The tip to keep an eye out for lower prices was good, too. You also made some great points about the very few weak points found in this product. Luckily, as of May 2020, Amazon is offering a four-year $14 warranty which begins once the manufacturer's one-year warranty expires. They also offer a $5 discount, so I look at the warranty as a $9 cost. The warranty includes any defects such as the plate peeling problem, and it includes shipping, which, when it comes to a coffee maker of this size, can be expensive. I was already going to purchase this product, but your review helped me to feel super confident about buying a great product. Thank you! 😀

    Hi you are hilarious.... I just got my fathers old DCC3200. No manual but you did help me figure out how to take the top of the carafe off and answered my ? on the water filter. I am sure that is what took your 2 cups of water. Thank you for the demonstration. Going to check out the KRUP grinder also. ;-)

    Excellent review. Your style is refreshing and realistic. Nicely done, sir.
    I'm a coffee hound but not a brew snob. I use the same grinder - for all kinds of things. Tap water, too. My old 1200 is starting to act up thus I'll being getting this 3200 to replace it.
    By the way, one can get third party filters for these coffeemakers on Amazon that are dramatically less expensive than the Cuisinart brand. I use them because our local water is heavy in minerals. I'm too lazy to do the filtered water thing.
    Thank you for the review.

    Take note of the small opening available to add water to the reservoir (around 5:00 into video). At just prior to 6:00 he adds water with an extendable spigot. If you have this option and don't mind using unfiltered water this may alleviate this issue for you. Alternatively, one could use a separate carafe with a narrow spout. I own an older model (DCC1200) and did not like this small "target" for adding water. I typically fill the carafe from the refrigerator's filtered water dispenser and then pour the water into the coffee maker. Spillage was a common issue. Another annoyance was the carafe top. It must be removed as a two-handed operation as opposed to a one-handed, thumb actuated flip top like many other models. Consumer Reports reviewers have also mentioned excessive steam, post-brewing, which may make it unsuitable for typical under-cabinet use as the steam may damage the cabinets above. This said, I'm not sure that this would not be an issue with any such coffee maker. The end product (coffee) is perfectly fine. I would assess the machine's reliability as above average. I only take issue with the ergonomics of the design.

    • @RocketScientist
      @RocketScientist  7 лет назад

      Sigrun Hulshouser All good points I'd agree with! That faucet has been a lifesaver. I hate Cuisinart's carafe design. It's like it specifically made to spill on purpose.

    I read somewhere that the hotplate can be programmed to remain hot for 0 to 4 hours but can't find any instructions on how to do it. It's frustrating. My fiancé bought this exact same unit a few weeks ago and despite the carafe temperature set to High, the coffee gets cold after 30 minutes past its brew time. How do we fix this? Appreciate your help.

    How does one use the 4 cup button feature? No matter if the button is pressed or not, it will always brew a full cup of coffee. So what does that button actually do or how does one use it to only brew a few cups and not the whole carafe?

    • @RocketScientist
      @RocketScientist  4 года назад

      If I understand the directions correctly, it brews slower, thus making a smaller amount of water hotter if you're only making 1 to 4 cups with less grounds than a full pot. I never make that small of an amount, but it works for a full pot too and makes it noticeably more robust. Trade off is it takes twice as long.

    Hey Rocket, have you noticed coffee grounds accumulating between the filter basket and the area where the basket sits? I just purchased this maker two days ago and after this mornings coffee I went to dump out the grounds and notice grounds were packed inside the area where the basket sits.

    • @RocketScientist
      @RocketScientist  4 года назад

      Yeah it happens to mine sometimes, usually when someone else makes the coffee besides me. I cant tell if its overfilled with grounds, or they're ground too fine where they float up faster than they absorb water. I take the lid off the pot, put it on the hot plate, and wash it into the pot with some water and dump it. Its a pain. I did find that if you use the 1-4 cup button, the water brews hotter and more slowly which takes care of this issue in either case.

Only question.... on day two I went to make coffee and opened the lid... the entire inside of the coffeemaker was covered in condensation.... this was 24 hours later... we had taken the paper filter out the day before... So is this normal to have that much condensation ? are we missing something... do we need to wipe out the inside and the lid... or keep the lid open and let it air dry ?

Thought about going back to that but this machine makes such damn good coffee and it’s actually $15 cheaper than when I bought my first copy of it in January of last year. Is it loud? I just bought a Nija and I like it but it’s so loud during the brewing process. It does something called blooming which means it pulsates the water into the coffee grounds. It does it every 3 seconds, stopping and pumping, so you hear the loud brewing water pumping. I’ve had it a week and I’m ready to trade it for this one. But I’m seeing reviews about peeling and rusting on the warming plate after a year. Any thoughts?

    Question - what is your ratio for coffee to water to make a good cup of coffee?? Just curious

    • @RocketScientist
      @RocketScientist  7 лет назад +1

      Well, It's not an exact ratio. That grinder I used in the video... I heap that over until beans spill on the counter, grind it, dump it in, and add 12 cups of water. If I really need some serious wake-up juice I'll pour a cup from a half-brewed pot when it's nice n thick. Pretty much I'm not satisfied unless I have heart palpitations from it. I like mine stronger than most people and the most coffee i can get out of a #4 cone is 7 cups of water going in, resulting in 6 "cups" in the pot. This is with the coffee cone filled about 3/4" from the top and it expands to the very top when done. If i use any more water than 7 "cups", i find the coffee too watered down like restaurnat coffee. The way i look at it, you compare it to a real espresso machine, the ratio of coffee beans used to coffee extracted is around 1:1 so how is it possible to get 3/4 gallon of good coffee from less than 1 cup of ground beans?

    Let's say you have the carafe-plate temperature set for (M) medium and set for 4 hrs.to keep the coffee warm after it's been made. But then after the 1st hour....you decide that you want to increase the temp and change the "keep warm plate" temperature to a higher setting? (Example: From (M) medium....to (H) High.) Can we change the "keep warm plate" temp setting AFTER the coffee is already made?? Thanks, Rocket guy ;) 🤗 🚀

    • @RocketScientist
      @RocketScientist  6 лет назад

      Sylvia Yep! Turn the it off, select desired temp, then turn it on again. It will beep again like it just finished, but the temp will be whatever you set it at while off.

    • @sylvia4425
      @sylvia4425 6 лет назад +1

      I'm sure it's a typo...but when you said "Turn the it off" what is "the it" ? Also, won't turning the 'on' button make the machine start making coffee again? (it can't possibly be THAT intuitive? lol This thing is smarter than me!!! ouch. lol

    • @RocketScientist
      @RocketScientist  6 лет назад

      "it" was indeed a typo. Once it's done it's not going to brew more coffee unless you add more water.

    I have this problem with my machine where the basket filter holder gets jammed or something. Like liquid is not coming down the hole whenever I brew coffee or wash the machine. Anyone know what gives?

    • @RocketScientist
      @RocketScientist  6 лет назад

      Jimmy it's a pretty simple spring valve at the bottom. As long as it still moves freely, should be good. It will not flow unless it's seated all the way in the machine. Make sure it's facing the correct way and push to make sure it's all the way in. At least that was the problem last time I created a coffee waterfall.

    • @DengPride
      @DengPride 6 лет назад

    Ok so I got this same pot, and I love it. I as well decided to do away with the charcoal filter. I didn't think there was a difference and didn't feel like spending money to replace them. I do have a question though. I haven't had this for a year yet, and I have noticed that the coffee is only brewing small portions at a time. I'll fill it for 10-12 cups but only brews like 4 cups. The 1-4 cup light is not on so its not like I accidentally bumped it. Any ideas what that could be?

    No way can you brew more than 10 cups without overflowing the basket. Nothing but grounds in my brew! The warmer is peeling after 1 year and it’s the most awkward water filling machine I’ve ever used.

    • @RocketScientist
      @RocketScientist  5 лет назад

      Glad you mentioned the grounds thing. I found since moving to my new house I went from city to well water, and this machine DOES NOT like well water. Causes an eruption every time. Filtered water doesn't do that. No idea why. Also seems less likely if I use the bold setting for 12 cups.

    I have had my DCC-3200 Cuisinart for three years and it's developed a problem. The problem is that the many heat and cool cycles of the warmer has caused the plastic that holds the warmer in place to sag. This causes the carafe or pot to sit too low. Because the carafe sits too low, the check valve on the bottom of the filter housing does not open wide enough to allow the coffee to come thru at a good rate. Because the coffee does not come thru fast enough, the water in the filter housing fills up and overflows back into the reservoir which takes the coffee grinds with it and it makes a big mess. I don't see a fix for this sagging or distorted base around the warmer; it's plastic. I see this as a real defect in the design of this coffee maker.
    I'm going to buy a different brand of coffee maker. This one just didn't hold up very long. Three years is not long enough to make it a reliable unit, and it's too expensive for such an early failure, in my opinion.

    • @RocketScientist
      @RocketScientist  3 года назад

      Wow yeah theres no fixing that. I guess its a consequence of penny pinching companies cranking these out by the millions.
