I have to agree about the old man. Never thought that deep of his character as a kid but as an adult his storyline hits different. I actually get quite teary at the end with his family 🥹🥹😭
This movie is a freaking masterpiece! Kevin and his traps, as well as the Wet Bandits, will forever be icons of the Holiday season. And Macaulay Culkin, forever remembered as one of the best child actors. "Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals."
I seen an interview with the actor that played Marv and he said after the movie release, he was walking in New York and a group of little kids ran up and kicked him in the shin cause he was the burgled in Home Alone. 😂😂

A doctor reacted to the movie and he said that some of the traps could actually cause from some serious harm, permanent damage to straight up kill them. And then they got worse in the second. Both burglars are lucky to be alive and have some insane resistance.
They would be dead if this really happened.

Wow, I'd never heard that before. That's some major control ability and acting prowess from Marv's actor, big time. Being an arachnophobia sufferer myself, I'd NEVER be able to hold it together enough for a TARANTULA to be put on my face!!!
I don't know if thats true, I've heard the exact opposite. He didn't want to scare the spider so the animal handler for the movie told him spiders are deaf so he didn't have to worry, so he just let loose when the time came. Not sure which is true, but this way is funnier so i tend to go with that lol
I love that John Candy and Macaulay were reunited in this after Uncle Buck. Even though they weren't in a scene together, close enough. Also the funeral scene by Candy was completely improvised, which makes it even more hilarious. And Marv's spider death scream is legit. He had arachnophobia. The greatest crime in this movie certainly...even tragedy...is that Kevin didn't even get to eat his Macaroni and Cheese...😞

I was waiting for you to recognize the cop Kate speaks to from France, the one speaking with his mouth full. If he'd gone to see Kevin, he would have told him he was disturbing his cats, or oboe practice or simething. Good old Mr Heckles 😂

Kieran Culken as Fuller with the sugar rush in the beginning gets funnier as the years go by. Considering that he's become a great actor in his own right in the last couple of decades.

no they didn’t accidently throw out someones passport with the napkins it was ironically kevins ticket which might explain why they didnt notice they had an extra one at the airport

My 4 year old great-great-nephew was here last weekend and watched it every time it came on. We were all telling him do NOT do anything Kevin did in the movie. 😂

14:21 - This scene was filmed backwards. The van started at the bottom of the drive. Macauley Culkin screamed. Then the van backed up the drive. Then the footage was played in reverse to make it look like what we see in the movie.

Nick it's funny that you said "Imagine if the spider bites him". Well actually Daniel Stern did have a real tarantula on him. And he was actually really worried that the tarantula would actually bite him. So he requested to Chris Columbus the director to take the stinger out. And then Chris said to Daniel "But Dan, if we take the stinger out then the tarantula will die." And then Daniel responded "Chris, if you don't take the stinger out then I could die because it's unpredictable if It might bite me"

There will be doing a new Home Alone 3 with McCauliy Culkin returning as Kevin and Buzz returning as a Police officer. Every Home Alone sequel, after 2, has been bad mostly because the child is not Kevin. So I am hoping Kevin returning wil change that.

i liked home alone 3 because the only real reason people didn't like it is cause the kid wasn't kevin,
to lie and say it's cause the criminals were smarter so them falling for the traps is more unrealistic,
when home alone is already unrealistic is insane,
home alone 3 is great if you ignore that the kid isn't kevin,

Here's what a lot of people miss about a) Kevin and b) older siblings. In the beginning of the movie, it's heavily alluded to that Kevin is a very naughty kid, and he had a lot of growing to do (which he does in the movie). In his parents' bedroom, they talk about a number of things he knowingly did wrong, like using his dad's brand new fish hooks to make ornaments without asking, and because he didn't want to use the old ones. This is just one thing he did recently, and didn't even apologize. He even says something to his mom that would've gotten me smacked in the mouth as a child: "get off the phone and make me, why don't ya?". Now, my parents would NEVER let an adult call me a name, like when Uncle Frank calls Kevin "a little jerk". The other kids are inexcusably mean to Kevin, but they only SAW what Kevin did: attack his brother. That's why he got sent to his room for the rest of the night. The parents weren't trying to be unfair to Kevin-- there was a lot going on in that house at the time and finally when it blew up, that's what they saw. My older sister used to whisper horrible things to me, tease me, typical older sister stuff. But she never hit. So by the time I had enough, my parents would see me punching her in the head or kicking her, and I'd get in trouble. Then I'd tell them what she said and she'd get in trouble, too. It didn't negate my responsibility to tell them FIRST, and to not physically assault my sister. In the kitchen, Buzz was doing something that's very typical and almost like...a tradition of sorts (lol) for an older sibling to do to their younger: tease. "Somebody's gonna have to barf it up. Quick, grab a plate!" (always a hilarious scene to me). Kevin physically attacked Buzz. He also tried to scare Kevin by telling him an urban legend about the neighbor, told him he wouldn't let him sleep in his room even if he "was growing on my ass" (again, hilarious line, and perfectly sums up the older sibling dynamic). My older brothers used to call our own house on the phone (back in the day, if you dialed your own number then hung up real quick, your own phone would ring), pick it up and pretend to be talking to Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck. Then, as I'd be practically peeing myself to talk to Mickey or Donald, they'd keep it going for a while: "Oh, me? I'm doing great! Thanks for calling again. So, what's been going on since last time we talked? Oh, that's AWESOME!" They'd finally go, "ugh, fine...veggies wants to talk to you. Oh? Oh, you don't know who she is? You don't like her?!" Or they'd say "yeaaahhh...he doesn't want to talk to you" or hand me the phone and hit the button when I wasn't looking then when I got the dial tone, they'd say, "Aww...he hung up on you". 😂 One even made me believe he ATE MY EFFING PARAKEET by hiding it in the bathroom! Then when I didn't believe him, the little sh had a back-up plan: he actually bit off his nails, put them into his sandwich, opened it up, and told me they were "Frosty's bones"! While I understand that true sibling bullying does occur (my oldest did waaaay abnormal and sadistic things to my second-oldest brother, and my second-oldest sister did some truly evil things to me), having older siblings that can balance the normal mean pranks and words, with genuine fun and love, is priceless. Some of my best memories and most formative lessons are those given to me by my big brothers. They made me stronger, gave me a great sense of humor and taste in music and movies, and taught me things that no one else could. They gave me their time, their attention, and their love. ❤
Wow blaming on a child victim from his own family,I see.. It was'nt even his fault. His siblings are the ones who tease him,yet Kevin gets all the blame.

Nick you gotta watch city slickers 1 and 2. It has daniel stern (who plays marv) and billy crystal. It's one of my all time favourite movies and I really think you would love the vibe.
The opening teaser...anyone who knows this movie instantly knows what that is in reaction too.
If you want another movie with great acting from Macaulay Culkin but totally opposite vibe check out The Good Son. It's a thriller that costars Elijah Wood (another fabulous actor since quite young) as a cousin to Culkin's character. Well in the story you find out that though they're cousins, their moms were identical twins, meaning genetically they're half siblings. Even though they're half siblings the 2 boys don't look that much alike, it's mostly the eyes, but the characters of Culkin's full sister & brother are played by Culkin's real life siblings.
In Home Alone Culkin's little brother plays the cousin that wets the bed. 😄

I honestly hate the family way more than Harry and Marv 😂. I don't even hate Harry and Marv all that much cause they're fun to watch. I mean Fuller is fine but everyone else is garbage. Even the mom to an extent. It's so obvious that she favors Buzz otherwise she would acknowledge his bad attitude as well and she let him off way too easily in the sequel. Maybe it's the youngest sibling biased in me but it was always so satisfying watching Kevin tell off his family.
1. John Candy did his part at union rate/FREE for his friend John Hughes

2. The items in Kevin's bags were not the same as what he had a checkout.
3. Daniel Stern/Marv has arachnophobia. That's why he freaked out. (NOTE: Tarantula spiders aren't venomous to humans but look scary). He insisted on doing only one take. His scream was dubbed in later, so not to scare the spider.
4. "Angels with Filthy Souls" is not a real movie.
5. GOOF: Marv has tar all over his feet when he steps on the stairs but when he grabs his foot, and all the other scenes after that no tar.
6. NO WAY could a child get the rope tight enough between the house and treehouse without a winch of some kind.
7. There's ANOTHER NO WAY Kevin could clean up that fast.
8. Home Alone II is good. However, Kevin as good hearted as he is, he gets mean.
9. Macaulay Culkin worked with John Candy (and Hughes) in "Uncle Buck".
That's how he got this gig. Great first time/share. HINT HINT

I hope you will watch Home Alone 2 next. I found it to be a tad funnier than the first one (the brick scene always cracks me up - you'll see what I mean). There were a total of 6... SIX Home Alone films, but the first two are the only ones worth your time. Parts 3 - 6 has a totally different lead kid, cast, & directors. It's obvious that they were just money grabs for the studio executives trying to cash in on the popularity of the first two original movies, that have become iconic holiday classics over the years.
A bit of trivia for you - Joe Pesci filmed this movie around the same time he was filming Goodfellas. He was so used to cursing on the Goodfellas set that he had a hard time refraining from using profanity on this family-friendly movie. So he came up with his own "frickin' frackin' language" to convey his anger & frustration over getting his butt kicked by a little kid - LOL! Merry X-mas!

i was born in 1991, i grew up watching these, i'm 32 now :( i couldn't stand his family. they treated him like shit. Macaulay Culkin actually got his star on the walk of fame finally. he had a speech,, and at the end he said merry christmas ya filthy animals! he should of gotten it as a kid a long time ago, he's married to brenda song who was in the show suite life of zack and cody, and they have a kid together!
