    I’ve been right handed for 60 years, but when it comes to finger picking it’s like I’m trying to use someone else’s fingers.

      You look like a proper metal or alternate picking type of guitarist, styles which are worlds apart, my greatest challenge is mastering the alt picking style while finger picking seems more natural for me

    This is how I learned to play songs and compose new ones on my nylon string acoustical Guild. Fingertips, no nails. So many patterns, and of course combining picking with strumming, and all the things that make it fun. I only play my work for myself, sometimes I share. It's more therapeutic than performance.

    • @rydellgarcia
      @rydellgarcia 2 месяца назад +1

      would you recommend using nylon strings instead of steel strings?

    • @DavidVeal
      @DavidVeal 2 месяца назад

      @@rydellgarcia I would recommend trying both. I like the feeling and the sound of my guitar in general. And then the nylon strings have a wonderful sound to me. I know a lot of people who have both. But I can only afford one guitar.

    entirely new to fingerpicking, i just feel like i need that kind of "freedom" on my guitar. after watching so many tutorials, and putting my guitar down a few times, this video has definitely been the most helpful so far! i think a lot of these comments don't understand that you're SUPPOSED to pause and rewind the video, write the chords down or do whatever to interact with what you're playing, apart from just playing it. it's good to play this until it's boring! so far, i have found no other techniques/practices that strengthen the independence of each finger as i understand it. thanks for the amazing tutorial!
