I have only invested my time in watching your progress, but when it began to rain I felt like it was my home too. My stomach was in knots! I am so glad that the rain let up and you all were able to continue the project. I loved the "Roll It" segment! That was good comic relief.
If I could've jumped thru the screen of my phone I would've. It just broke my heart to see the rain inside your beautiful new home. You guys work so hard. I truly had tears watching this. So glad the sun finally came out.
My dad did roofing with only one or two friends. He did the same trick with the blocks for the first row and rigged a pully system to get sheeting and materials to the roof. He also rigged a temporaty water proofing before he started, in case of rain. Basically just overlapping tarps weighted down on the part he wasn't working on. If it rained they could just pull it down over the unfinished part of the roof and weight it at the overhanging edge with 2x4's to keep the wind from catching it. He learned that in the navy. Had to use it quite a few times too and never had any serious damage at his projects. He always used materials on hand for weight and it never added to the cost, except for the tarps, which he could always use later for other things.
I cried for you Ashley because I knew didn’t have time to stop and cry!!! You two are troupers. You work like best friends. I am pulling for you to get the job done.
You did what you could. Everyone’s got an opinion that, given post an issue like this, doesn’t help you guys. For those of us who watch your journey, you’re completely capable of fixing any issues that may or may not arise from the rain. We know you two will be totally fine. And we will learn right along with you.
Wow - that literally made my heart hurt. Because the two of you have worked so hard on the interior of your home & because I've been there to watch every step of the way, it felt like it was my home being destroyed. I am so glad everything turned out well.
I cried when the rain started. Then she went inside and I kept thinking, she has to have used all their bath towels by now trying to keep the water off of everything. How are they going to get them dry? More crying ensued. But alas once the rain ended and the roofing continued there was many laughs to lift our spirits. Thank you for sharing it all with us. The big reveals, the misery, all the hard stuff, all the easy stuff, and everything inbetween.
OMG....noooooooo! I hope there’s no damage to your beautiful newly remodeled house! I felt like crying when Ashley was mopping up the water. Then, Doug rolled across the roof and Ashley posted hoarder when he saved the cap and I was laughing. Luv your little family. ❤️
I almost cried for you when I saw all the rain, especially when it was pouring inside too. Thankfully it stopped and you were able to finish what you started. I hope there’s no damage inside, after all your hard work. Loved the ‘rolling’ on the roof Doug. Glad you have the ability to make some fun and not let these things get you down. Stay safe. Well done
30 years of Roofing has taught me that the only profession in the world where you don’t get fired for being wrong all the time is a weatherman. Sorry you had to go through that, it’s hard to see that work get wet, but hopefully since it was only one rain storm that got through, it will dry out with no ill effects.
Mother nature, you just can't trust her. You guys have more guts and positive attitude than anyone in the DIY biz. That rain storm was a real tense segment, I almost left the room, but you pulled through! Interesting tools and materials on that job too.
Your resilience is astounding! I was in tears as it rained and Ashlie was mopping up water everywhere. Its so good that you sealed your beautiful woodwork inside with tung oil or shellac! Praying that any trapped moisture won't be an issue now.
This was the best film. It was like a movie. I cried so hard over rain coming in house. Then was laughing like silly, man rolling on roof. Oh good grief . What a wonderful film,!
I felt so bad for you when it rained, all I could think about was all that hard work is going to get ruined. Hope there wasn't to much damage and all dries out well.
Always buy an emergency tarp when doing a roofing job yourselves. It’s there when you need it. If you don’t use it you can just return it after the job is done.
One more suggestion. Pull air through your attic so all your insulation dries. Your insulation looks like it took water and is half it’s size. You can do this with small attic fans on your cable ends. You should keep all the fans on for about a week. Praying for you and family.
I could feel the disappointment and stress as Ashley wiped up the rain. I'm so sorry you had to deal with this after all your hard work. Hopefully it will all dry like it never even happened.
Ashley, my heart broke for you, with all the water pouring in the house. I’m so glad it stopped and you were able to finish. You two are so funny, Roll it roll it.
There is a saying in the roofing business...Always be prepared for rain. Doesn't matter what time of year it is or what the weather people say. To not have the protective sheeting needed, you risk your entire life to the elements. Always have a contingency plan. ALWAYS. Hopefully, you have a saavy insurance agent who knows the ins & outs of getting you some type of compensation to cover the damages. Hopefully. Next time...start with the roof FIRST! Edit- Also, be prepared for mold that will surely rear it's ugly head within the next 6 months. Too much water came inside for the mold not to happen. You need a moisture "gun" to measure the amounts before you seal anything up. Otherwise, you risk the health of your family. Edit 2- I watched the last part and realize that you already sealed in the moisture. Yikes. I wish you luck.
Glad you got it covered. I was sad to see the dripping in the house. Hope nothing was destroyed. That Doug is my hero. I would have freaked out. He is like cool hand Luke.
I put off watching this because it made me anxious anticipating what was going to happen. Honestly, I was literally nauseated watching the water leaking into the house. No one deserves for something like that to happen but for it to happen to your family, after all of your hard work was just heart breaking. I hope there is no long term damage. You guys are in my thoughts and prayers❤️
We had a storm come up after our roofers left for the day - rain was predicted- they put tarp on - it was blown off- our family room ceiling fell in- a company came everyday for 2 weeks with dehumidifiers- it finally worked out - had to replace the sub floor - new flooring-all new insulation- it was a total mess - we were heartbroken 😓You always have to have tarp - but in our case - it didn’t matter ... my heart goes out to you .......
I appreciate the honesty of the video (and moreover, your channel). Life isn’t when everything goes right; it when it goes wrong and how we react. Both of you kept on going. A+, Hats off, Kudos, etc.
Got a kick out of the little "hoarder" you threw in there! You did so good with that rain. I would have been in a closet crying my eyes out. You two are such an awesome example of teamwork. It is very inspiring to me.
Hi Doug & Ashley....you guys took that a lot better than I would have. Glad you got it done, and with a sense of humour at that....Take care....stay safe...
I am so devastated for you and so sorry. You definitely don’t deserve this after you worked so hard. It was gut wrenching to watch. I am seeing unexpected storms on so many USA channels just now. The weather forecasters don’t look to be doing their jobs just now.
Oh no... I'm gutted for you guys. 😥 All that dripping water in the house.. and it's even coming through the light too!! .. 😥😥 Ash.. I'm feeling so bad for you.. all that water on your sills, walls and lovely flooring. So maddening. I'd have been crying and saying "chit" a lot. ***sigh*** . And then it even thundered !!!!.. I can only think how frustrated and stressed you both were through this. Whew... and then... 🎵 the sun came out and dried up all the rain..🎵 Great pic of you both on the roof, and with all the towels out on the line in the background. Shows what kind of day you had. Great job guys !. You really worked your butts off today. Take care... see you on the next one. 💕
Oh, wow. I felt so bad for Ashley finding all of the leaks in the house. I almost felt like crying! I pray that rain hasn't ruined any of your hard work.
Remember when you were painting the red stripe on the last house and the rain came out of nowhere? You just seem to invoke the rain when you are working. Glad you got it covered.
turn on your inside heat to help dry the inside out, leave for a few hours, when my cottage was flooded with 2 feet of river water, we had heaters running everywhere inside & under the house ( a couple), yes it dried then came stripping it all down, floors walls to just the frame. No mold what so ever anywhere. This made me want to cry to watch the rain pour down the walls & thru the ceiling light....Prayers for y'all.
The rain made me cry but the rolling process cheered me right up. I shan't stop worrying til you update about what the water inside did or hopefully did not do.
To tell you the truth - I couldnt watch the video when it rained. It broke my heart to see all that work go down the tubes. You guys are AMAZING!! You stuck with the job and saved the day!! That was the hardest video I ever watched or didnt watch. Ive been there and lost a lot of work and material. Great job sticking through this. Hope everything dries out and dont warp.
Y’all managed the job well considering the trials you had to go through. I’m proud of your perseverance and ability to shake it off and get it done. I felt your frustration and pain Ashley, but you’re a powerful woman!
My heart stopped when I saw that water coming in the first time I watched this video a month ago. Watching for a second time it was more painful... All that hard work you guys have done. Thank God everything is good.
I was just heartsick when it rained and Ashley was trying to mop up the water. Hope everything is fine, please let us know! Loved the “roof roll”, that was funny. Another great video by the hardest working couple in DIY world 🌍❤️
That's what I said to my room mate where is the tarp, they have the other side still to do. Time to get one you can't count on the Weather, they have come they worst, I have faith in them to bounce back!!!!!
You go girl!!! .. way to rock the nail gun!!!! I’m a bit south of you and the rain was a total surprise for us here!! Enjoy being a part of your trailer makeover!! Thanks for taking us all along with you!!!
OMG! I nearly cried when the rain came in the house! How horrible! My heart aches for you guys. You have come sooo far! AWESOME JOB! Keep up the hard work.
I could literally feel my heart fall, when I saw you wiping the water in the inside of your house.. What a heart breaker.I feel helpless , so, can't imagine how you felt.
From the amazement at how Doug can carry all the plywood up the ladder and balance on the trusses to motivation at Ashley coordinating logistics and working right along to get the job done. Then shock and worry at the rain to belly laughs at Doug's antics. You guys are a treasure! Thanks for being YOU.
I just love you two!! Such a strong work ethic & amazing attitude even when things go bad! The roof is coming along wonderfully & hopefully you’ll get the house dried out! I’m excited to come along & see the finished roof!! ❤️
So frustrating about the rain but you guys powered through and did a great job!! Way to go!! Ashley - I commend you, I think if it was me sopping up the water in the house the audio would have been littered with some choice cuss words. LOL "They say ROLL IT!" LOL
I started crying when the rain started, I hope it didn’t ruin the dry wall and floors and walls. You guys were rushed to finish. I bet Doug was sore after struggling with the lumber. It gave me the flashback of the rain dripping the red paint onto the white on your other trailer.
My heart just sank when I saw that water going inside the house onto your beautiful floors and walls and light fixtures. How are things drying out? A week after I moved into my house (years ago), a pipe burst at the water heater and flooded the downstairs. We had just put in all new carpeting before we moved in. It was so upsetting! But we ran fans and a dehumidifier and everything was fine. I hope you don't have too much damage, and that any water damage you do have can be easily remedied!
I had to pause the video and take a deep breath. ANXIETY level went through the roof and it's not even my home. My heart.... Goodness my heart was breaking seeing all that water coming in through the light fixtures and the ceiling. I am happy to see that you both were able to put your best foot forward and deal with the matter at hand quickly. So happy to see that you were able to finish that side of the roof. I will say that we have learned through bad experience to always have 3-4 big blue tarps. After a hurricane came along and tore off our shingles and the water started coming in....and we didn't have tarps to protect neither the roof nor the furniture...yup, never again. Praying for good weather on the other half of the roof.
I about died when I saw that water.. how did you ever keep your cool? Ashley, you’re so chill!! I would have been running around like a crazy person.... in the end, roof looks great.. I may still be in shock from that water.. geez!! Doug rolling the roof was epic.. haha!!
haha, the rolling was hilarious. We watched that clip over and over again, lol. The rain was a huge let down, but it all should dry out good and be okay :)
Oh my. I have never cried watching a you tube video, but watching the horrors y'all had to go through, really hurt my heart. I am so happy that it all worked out. Still a bit concerned about any damage to those papered interior walls. Yall worked so hard on those. One word......tarps
I started to cry when the rain came, I hope there isn't any interior damage. Let us know. It's looking so good.i know that was hard on both of you. Thanks for taking the time to share with us
You two are so cool together, you just keep going no matter what happens. I loved where Doug was rolling, but I really laughed when the word hoarder popped up on the screen. So funny. At the end of your video I was half expecting you to end it by pretending to jump off the roof. LOL! You 4 have a great evening and take care.
Handled that best you could. Tough break. I would take the hit and buy 2-3 dehumidifiers and run them nonstop Over next two weeks. They work wonders and all rapid response does in first few days is use commercial ones
That made my heart sink ..I pray nothing got ruined after all the hard work you've put into your home ..I actually felt to my stomach and and started to tear up seeing the rain running down the walls ,window seals and lights . But in the end you had me lol . God Bless ..Love you all
Man when you you mentioned rain I thought to myself oh no? Hope you didn't have any damage from it and can only hope and pray that your luck will finally change for the good after all the trials and tribulations you guys have encountered since I first started following you guys for a few years now. Good luck and God Bless. Haffy Hey folks get these guys to 100k subscribers they deserve everyone one of us.
My heart dropped when the rain came. I hope the insulation dries so there is no mold. The same with the walls. Again, great team work. Laughed out loud at Doug literally rolling on the roof. The two of you up on that rook making it like your are only inches from the ground. Have to admit I held my breath once or twice. I think being a weather person is the only job you can be wrong and still get paid. Murphy’s law came into play today. Stay well.
This was hard to watch....and at times funny too. I’ve watched you while you did your floors, lights and walls and ceilings. It was so hard to watch all that rain pouring all over your hard work. I hope everything dries out with out any problem.
Ashely Iam so sorry about the house I could hear your pain of all your hard work Doug you being out in the storm could not have been easy bless you all
OMG...I was watching with my hand on my head and mouth open when all that water came inside. I was watching like I was watching a horror movie! I just wanted to jump into the screen and help! I was thinking (I have a bunch of towels I could give you) LOL!! I wanted to cry....in fact I think I might have teared up for you Ashely. I live in Caro Michigan and was thinking "I wonder how close they are to me?" lol You both are an inspiration to those who come into problems and just keep on going! Deep Breath.......
I Never felt so sorry for two people in all my life I sure Hope you guys get everything dried out. Your such hard workers. Don't get discouraged it will all come together for you. 😱😥😢🙏👍💖
They say ROLL IT. 19:06
Ha, ha, ha! 😂🤣 You have a good sense of humor and able to be positive when things don’t go well, or as expected. That’s a good thing!!!

that cracked me up
Loved that bit hahaha
That was hilarious 😂

I ain’t even gonna lie...I cried for y’all. This was so upsetting.
I cried too when Ashley was inside mopping up the water and watching Doug through the window working so hard to get everything covered.
Get a dehumidifier to pull moisture out of the house from the rain. It does a great job.
Will do.
With a heppa filter you can rent them
Definitely! And run it for several days and move it throughout the house.
Spent a month of constantly running dehumidifier after waterleak on basement :(
On the unit you rent itll have % of moisture in the air and other %
Any time you work on a roof, PLAN for Rain. No mater what the weather forecast is, plan for rain.

You poor babies! You work soooo hard....didn't deserve this. But I'm praying all is well. Blessings & prayers your way.
Why no tarp? Tear open the gables for fan placement at each end, place dehumidifiers up in attic
My heart dropped when the rain came in the house. I hope it doesn’t affect the beautiful wood. Ashley is so right, Doug, you are a hard working man.
The wood should be okay. Drywall is the thing you don't want to get wet!
I don't know how you stayed so calm, I'd have been screaming hysterically 😥
I could feel the disappointment and stress as Ashley wiped up the rain. I'm so sorry you had to deal with this after all your hard work. Hopefully it will all dry like it never even happened.
My heart was breaking 💔 watching the rain come inside. I was feeling so bad. U both persevere, God bless 🙏

You two deserve a medal for what you did under the circumstances. You were at the mercy of the weather and made the best of it. Great job.
I learned a few years ago the hard way to always have tarps available when doing a tear off just in case it rains.. The weather is a fickle creature.
My heart breaks for you hard-working people. Sending lots of love your way!!!
That rain was so unfortunate but you saved the day .....cause that’s how you roll ! Xxx
You are E P I C and Strong like bull! The “Roll” segment proves how quickly you snap back when rain tries to rain on your parade. You’ve got this💖💖💖
Ashley, you handled the situation beautifully 🥰 I was crying for you 😢
That rain had me biting my nails. I could've cried for Ashley...trying to wipe up all that water. YIKES. As always...you guys ROCK!!!
Oh my. I have never cried watching a you tube video, but watching the horrors y'all had to go through, really hurt my heart. I am so happy that it all worked out.
Still a bit concerned about any damage to those papered interior walls. Yall worked so hard on those.
One word......tarps
Oh my I almost started crying as that downpour came
But in your usual fashion, you worked through it & had us laughing along with you. 😁❤️
Oh my god I feel for you with all the hard work you put in to this home I hope all is good now xxx
OMG...I feel like crying. All your hard work. I hope all drys up and nothing is wrecked. Take care
I started to cry when the rain came, I hope there isn't any interior damage. Let us know. It's looking so good.i know that was hard on both of you. Thanks for taking the time to share with us
Ashley was on it! So far so good, but we're keeping an eye on things.
God Bless ..Love you all
crying...that broke my heart....all that work
Thank you. Luckily everything dried out great and we didn't have any damage. Even the laminate flooring is okay!
I am so sorry! Praying for you that nothing is ruined and you don't get mold.
Stay well.
Oh my😔I hope the damage inside is not so bad. ❤
This was hard to watch....and at times funny too. I’ve watched you while you did your floors, lights and walls and ceilings. It was so hard to watch all that rain pouring all over your hard work. I hope everything dries out with out any problem.
Oh my gosh, I'm cringing and almost can't watch. Watching the water pour into your house... ahhhhh I could cry with you.
Ashely Iam so sorry about the house I could hear your pain of all your hard work Doug you being out in the storm could not have been easy bless you all
Ditto❤️
I feel so bad that it got so wet inside. Hope it all dries up good. Try to run a couple of fans to dry things out.
Hopefully, there's no serious damage done to the house!
I Never felt so sorry for two people in all my life I sure Hope you guys get everything dried out. Your such hard workers. Don't get discouraged it will all come together for you. 😱😥😢🙏👍💖
