Overkill is good. It means future proofing. Shelling out this much cash for a phone it better last. As far as camera goes, gcam works on it which brings it closer to other flagships.
Just take a look at the Nubia Red Magic 3, the only other comparable truly dedicated "gaming phone" on the market today. Every bit the equal (actually better in most benchmarks) of the Rog P2. I do think that you will find the comparison interesting. The Black Shark 2, & Razer 2 simply can't compete. Take a look...

My next phone, I will highly consider the Kunai and the Dock for TV broadcasting, but overall this phone is great even if you don't play, just using it for Maps in your car, browsing, RUclips, this thing will last all day and you'll never have to worry. My only issue is if it will update it's Android version for 2 years

Wouldn't matter if it were enabled(the Chinese/international version do have VoLTE enabled and also cannot do it in the U.S). The providers here won't allow it on VoLTE because Asus didn't pay them money for the certification yet(if they ever will, dunno)

@@Kovye went with the ROG Phone 2 and it's way worth it. Honestly it's the best phone I've ever had by far. And not just from a gaming perspective. Although the gaming aspect is mind blowing. But as an ever day phone it has so many amazing features. Stuff I never knew I'd wanted or needed. And the speed of the phone is unlike anything I've ever seen. The air triggers for gaming work flawlessly. Instant response time. The game genie is great if u take gaming seriously. I could go on for days man. I've never been happier with a purchase. I ended up getting a case off Amazon. It's clear and has raised corners. The case selection overall is limited cause the phone is so new but I found a good one. Only bad thing is u can't use the fan at the same time but not that big of deal. I read bad reviews on the one Asus sells, plus it's $60. The one I got was $9 and works great. Hope this helps. If ur on the fence I say go for it if u got the money. Oh last thing, I have Cricket wireless as a provider and get service everywhere. I haven't had a single issue with calls. And I just made a trip to see family for Christmas. I drove from the northern part of SC to the northern part of MI and didn't lose service at all

I'm interested in the rog2 purely from a media perspective; the screen size and battery are killer and combine with the front facing stereo speakers for a great experience. I plan to get the twin view setup for multitasking and battery reserve as well as the dock purely to be able to backup whatever I have stored on it, since the phone doesn't have an sd slot. This will be replacing my current edc, Samsung j7 prime phone and samsung 8.0 tab for media/browsing. Loved your review!

U can use any of those accessories for other phones as well. And as a gaming phone, it is missing access to Apple Arcade where those games would be perfect for the Rog as well. Yes I’ve played all 80+ Apple Arcade games and they are mostly like quality games you would get on the Switch’s AA and AAA titles. None of those crap mobiles games u typical get on the appstore and play store. Iphone is the better all round choice thb.
This phone is amazing and the panoply of accesories that are available are equally amazing. The only thing I don't get is why having a mobile desktop dock and no desktop mode like the Dex from Samsung? That would be the icing on the cake for this phone, imo.

What bugs the shit out of me is that the rog software is allowed to map and use the rog kunai bluetooth controller when Activision pulled the controller support on official launch. So because Asus made a deal with tencent, only the rog phone 2 can use a controller (officially)? Kind of a middle finger to everyone else. 😒
i think you all reallize that they dont focus on camera but for games. So if you dnt like that, then dont simply buy it. If they push both camera and specs for gaming, for sure the price will shoot up.

You have a dark mode, air triggers, x mode, an rgb Asus logo, and THE BEST SPEAKER BY FAR. You have a built in radio, yes a radio, a headphone jack, and a custom audio amplifier which makes this phone a speaker on the go. I have T mobile on this phone so yes 4g LTE does work just not on Version and Sprint . The back has a nice futuristic look while having a glass back. While the camera can be a solid camera, its finest in lighting, I don't really see anything bad which it until I'm zooming in especially in videos with that Android quality. Android 10 has been rumored to come out but I still have not received it. Playing emulators and games are smooth and heavy drain battery games such as Call of Duty and Pubg only drain 3% of your battery(max settings) for a 10 minute match of BR,while your iPhone friend with low brightness, low power mode, and a dull fruit logo that doesn't light up drains 20% battery in 10 minutes. There is a lot to cover such as the face recognition (1 sec response) gestures( draw an "c" when the phone is off to open camera), and a light up led when you receive notifications, I'll leave you with the tip of the iceberg.

It's funny to see the Pixel's 4 made a lot of noise and finally disappoints so much, and surprisingly this ROG Phone 2 was so quiet and yet is really impressive ! Sounds like Google focused on is "Soli" feature and forget about the rest. A flagship with either 2800mah or 3700 mah is a joke in coming 2020. Gaming aesthetics aside, it's a beast of a phone with no compromise.
The only cons that I see are the underwhelming camera but that's it IMO.

If you use your s10 on 1440p all the time you won't stand the screen on the ROG2

It's funny to see the Pixel's 4 made a lot of noise and finally disappoints so much, and surprisingly this ROG Phone 2 was so quiet and yet is really impressive ! Sounds like Google focused on is "Soli" feature and forget about the rest. A flagship with either 2800mah or 3700 mah is a joke in coming 2020. Either way, when this ROG 2 will get Android 10 it's gonna be a killer phone. Thanks for your review, wasn't expected to be so hyped about Asus making a phone :)

@@enzoladuca7794 like anything you adjust to it, with the huge screen, huge battery and decent loudness it's perfect for me, EASILY lasts all day and I'm watching RUclips, Netflix and surfing the web heavily, my previous phone was a note 9, but for me "personally" , this is a far better phone for "my" needs.......

why can't i find the rog kunai gamepad online for sale anywhere ? all i can find are cheap alternatives that ain't worth it. i am a switch owner and this phones kunai gamepad looks very similar. any help locating the real kunai gamepad or more accessories like the twin view, wich is also hard to locate would be great..... thanks
