SlovakiaTALKS. I wanted to ask the normal person in SLOVAKIA this question,
an interesting experiment I'm doing around the world.
Do you have a country you don't like so much? Which and why?
As an Indian, I hv no hate for any country.
Just the authoritarian governments are in my hate list
No hate to Single person
Btw, Keep it Gus
Nice Video !
Hey Gus, any countries you would not want to visit again? Just wondering
Saying that every country is beautiful and there isn't a country you don't like is simply a lie. There are countries that people like and dislike for various objective and subjective reasons and there is nothing wrong with that. By saying that everything is beautiful and you like everything you discredit the real meaning of beauty and likeability. There are many amazing countries, but also a lot of horrible ones, that have an opressing authoritarian regime, that violate human rights, are racist, are ignorant to the rest of the world, don't care about climate change and keep driving large pick-up trucks and consume and buy way more things than they need.
It is important to adress those issues, so we can make a change to a better world, instead of being politicly correct and saying that you like everything and everyone and there is nothing wrong with anyone or anything.
Of course the world is not black and white and each country is not completely good or bad. Instead each country has good and bad features.
Also, from my experience people from other countries are 99% good people that just want good things for them and others.
So in conlusion there is nothing wrong with not liking a certain country, as long as you have a resonable reason for that, usually regarding politicts, ideology or culture and not people of that country( esspecialy if you have never met them).
I am Slovak. And I must honestly say that the people of Bratislava are not exactly a representative sample of Slovakia. There they live in their "universe". I don't know how else, but most East Slovaks don't like the USA and the EU. Because politics.
@@vranarsk8563 then why your country joined NATO?
As a Hungarian, I'm offended that I had to wait almost 5 minutes until someone says Hungary.
Young people don't really care about Austria-Hungary they just take it as part of our history. Only stupid extremistic people (they can be mostly seen on football matches) are trying to destroy our friendly relationship...Love Hungary🇭🇺from Slovakia🇸🇰
Well, thats Bratislava. We hate only ourself :D And slovak politicians are not playing with "hungarian card" since Slota was voted out of parliament, thats like 15 years ago. Traditional enemy of Hungarians, the Slovak national party, went into parliament coalition with hungarian party. :D But yes, this is strange era, even slovak neo-nazis love Hungarians now...because you know, they love your wannabe dictator...
lol
Im sorry that we disapointed you 😂
@@ratinhat3574 oh how the turns have tabled XDDDDDDDDDDD
Native Slovak here.
For one, I was surprised that Hungary wasn't mentioned more often. We had a complicated history with Hungary. We were under Hungarian rule within Austro-Hungarian Empire and Slovak students were forced to learn Hungarian back in 1800s. Later our mutual relationship got better, however, occasional provocations from far-right politicians (from both sides tbf) may happen.
For second, I'm really sad, how many of these people said that they don't like their own country. I mean, I know why it is like that. The costs of living are higher and higher (Bratislava is brutally expensive, considering of average salary in the country), corruption is everywhere and mostly young generation doesn't see any chance to succeed, jobwise. That's why many people move abroad, mostly to Czech rep., UK or Germany.
And finally, if you'd ask me about country I don't like, based on my own experience, I would say China. It's overcrowded, you're basically under constant monitoring and their social credit system is scary af.
Привет брат католик, я из России 🇻🇦🇷🇺🤝🏻🇸🇰🇻🇦
Armenian that has lived in Australia since age 11 here, I'm surprised so many in Slovakia speak English!!
@@soyuzdavillan721 I don’t know why that is so surprising, you can communicate in English in most of the world and especially in Europe. Also obviously he’s not going to put the ones who can’t speak any English in the video because he couldn’t even ask them the question.
But I can give you more insight for Slovakia specifically. From the first year of primary school (age 6) we learn a foreign language as a mandatory subject and in a high majority of schools (I’d guess 90%) this is English, followed by German. And in year 5 another foreign language gets added so there is only a very small chance neither of the 2 would be English. This of course wasn’t the case in the past. During the communist era, the foreign language was Russian but he’s interviewing mostly young people who were born just before or after the regime fell so most of them have been learning English from a young age.
@@soyuzdavillan721 almost everyone in Slovakia speaks English, most people speak one other language, many people are fluent in three or more languages. We know that we wouldn't get anywhere with being monolingual so we're taught foreign languages from a very young age
Well, the relationship with Hungary is pretty stable now, arguably at the best levels in history, and except for a few misguided nationalists, there's no animosity on either side for now. Most Slovaks don't care about Hungary, most Hungarians don't care about Slovakia. God bless
I love our typical Slovak self-hate. You don’t see it in many other countries😄
same in Romania :)
in Slovenia as well lol
Depends on the perspective. Those who said Slovakia, to me they had this queer vibe. I don't know if they are queer but if they are indeed queer, then it's quite clear they don't like Slovakia as the Central European countries are more conservative towards the LGBT+ people. Not as much as Eastern European countries but at the same time not as open-minded as Western European countries.
its mostly Bratislava - capital city thing. on other parts of slovakia we dont have it. they often are sjw snowflakes and they dislike that the other Slovaks are not like them. we dont like our politics too, but we know, that slovakia have many good things like safety on the streets and we love our country
We also have this kind of self-hate in Hungary. And Romanians and Bulgarians also have it.
8 minutes and no one said Hungary, and when finally the lady mentions "Madarsko" but she adds: only because of the difficult language. And I am just like: wow and wow 😄😄😄
Igen igen, kellemes csalódás volt. én azt hittem h kb mindenki minket fog mondani😅
I am Slovak and hate Hungary but only in history stage now days it is not realy good but not realy bad
Hungary should apologize for all the crimes it has committed against the non-Hungarian nations in Greater Hungary.
I love Hungary for many reasons. Ladies, politics, food and i like the sound of language.
The most people here hate hungarians only because they are mean to us and provocate. After WW1 they lost many territories (not only in Slovakia). Now they are acting like little kids that want revenge or something.
Example: When you drive on a hungarian highway to Bratislava (Slovakia) you can't find information where to drive because they call the city poszony and not by its real name. NOWHERE in Europe foreign names on signs called in their language.
Another example would be the buying of Slovak lands by hungarians; not invited politicians on slovak ceremonies or events that act like some rasistic children; only hungarian language in Slovak supermarkets (and I know that hungarians are the biggest minority in Slovakia but it's not normal that you can't understand anything in a local supermarket).
I love Slovakia our brothers! Very nice people. Much love from Czechia.
we love you back :)

@Shubham Bhardwaj I’m Slovak
I am happy that English is being pushed as a mandatory language since early childhood in our school system. Glad to see almost all of these Slovaks being able to communicate their thoughts in a second language without hesitation.

Greetings ex Moscow, guys.
Russia is still very popular here. So maybe it was influenced by this fact.
Just fyi
Last week there was a research of the public opinion in EU. Europeans answered to question that if there will be a conflict between USA and Russia, which side should your country take.
65 % Slovaks answered that neither. 6% answered we should join USA. But 20% answered we should help Russia. That was the most in whole EU. And we are NATO member , plus there is currently nonstop antirussian propaganda in mainstream media. Obviously it doesnt work :D
Pity but history goes on in spiral. There was a time when Slovakia was a part of Austro-Hungarian Empire so that Russia was a part of Russian Empire and USSR then. We all know they've been collapsed and remained as a small period of history.
So, the USA is the empire too and they tried to save their position to be the first in the world. This is OK but I wonder why do they prevent Russia to defend their positions. They have been punking Russia last 20 years at least, firing its borders.
We all can make a deal at least, I think like the Europeans. As it was before.
The real competitor is China, I suppose. They are not capable of accepting compromises at all. I think this is China who can really start the Nuclear War because of their growing power.
@@beatthehuns One thing to remember, it's not about Russia's popularity, it's about the great unpopularity of the US because of its wars of aggression in the Middle East.

Other countries : "I don't like X country because of some reasons"
Slovakia : I HATE THIS ONE 😂😂
What are you talking about? Did you not spot these:
0:09 "I don't like Germany because I don't like the language."
0:24 "I don't like USA for the politics. I like the country but I just don't like the politics."
0:54 "I don't like Slovakia because of the people here."
1:23 "I don't like Slovakia simply because I've lived here for too long."
1:30 "I don't like warm countries (I think she wanted to say tropical) like South American countries, because I prefer colder places (I think she wanted to say mild)."
2:34 "I don't like Morocco because I've been there and I had some bad experiences with the locals."
3:07 "I don't like Poland mostly because there are some dirty places there."
3:32 "I don't like North Korea because I don't like the regime, it's unbelievable!"
4:37 "I don't like Hungary because I don't like the language."
4:47 "I don't like countries that have bad politicians, for example Russia - it's pretty rough!"
5:15 "I don't like the South American countries, for example there is the Amazon river and I am scared of the big spiders and the local wildlife."
The reasons why you can't see more of the reasons is because the majority of the interviewed people said they "don't have a country they hate" or "they like every country equally" or they couldn't think of one they hate at the moment.
Their English might not be so elaborate, as they are probably camera shy and surprised, or they don't want to offend anybody, don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings. So I re-wrote their answers and reasons to a better language above.

Well, it's mostly those ignorant SJWs from the capital who hate their own country. I bet most of the young people here in Slovakia love their country even if we have a lot of problems here.
"I've lived here too long" is a great reflection of the mentality. Most young people believe it's normal to move "next door" when they reach certain age. It's no longer just about moving abroad to have better life conditions, I noticed there's a widespread belief you don't really grow if you're stuck on the same place all your life and it's almost expected to have some experience with different cultures. For as long as I remember young students have always been encouraged to study abroad and older generations kept instilling the idea anything is better than staying in Slovakia over and over again, teachers themselves saying "What? Slovak university? You can do better than that." Well, go figure..

@@dovidopo Moja milá trafená hus, I have not in the slightest mentioned any nostalgy for some authoritarian regime or whatever. There are many people around the world who love their respective countries and their respective nation without compromising their democratic stance.
But even in our history there was a period (interwar Czechoslovakia) which was uncompromisingly democratic but when the patriotic feeling flew high among the population.
So, please, spare me these logical fallacies of association between patriotism and authoritarian regimes.
I guess it comes from a poor understanding of political and socio-economic environments in other countries. In Slovakia a lot of people think grass is greener on the other side. Too many Slovaks here are knocking their own country. Don't do that! Slovakia is a wonderful country, with towns of manageable size, friendly people and beautiful countryside. In addition, it's a safe place, and it hasn't suffered the consequences of reckless immigration policies, as Western European countries have. That's something you should be grateful for. Keep it that way.
Well, Slovakians didn’t invade and colonize and steal other peoples lands. So fair enough. German, French , Spanish colonized, stole other peoples lands, so kinda poetic that now they’re getting all the immigrants.
@@SecretStepDaddy No, it's not 'kinda poetic'; it's simply the result of the ideological folly of liberal elites in the West. Colonising others has been practised by countless peoples, many of them non-European, such as Arabs, Chinese and Japanese, but they don't all pursue reckless immigration policies.
@Lucas Roach Central /Eastern European immigrants into Western Europe fare pretty well and don't present the problems immigrants of other backgrounds sometimes do.
It won't be long before the reckless immigration will hit Slovakia as well. That's because we are not the ones who will decide if that happens or not We are not an independent state, we are a puppet state of the western powers. Our politicians are paid shills and they will do everything that west tells them to do. If EU tells us to accept the immigrants, our politicians will do it. The only reason why we don't have more of them right now is because they don't want to stay here. They are moving through Slovakia into Germany and other western countries, but sooner or later they will start to settle here when these countries get overwhelmed.

@@user-fm8fh2dd7g I dont think Bratislavians needs to work in UK. Quitte opposite. Its just cultural and economic hub where english is just very common. It would be true for other parts of Slovakia, though..
I've noticed that "Slovak" accent in english is very very mild compared to other languages. (like Czech or German or Russian, those accents are really strong and easily recognizable).
Bro then you haven't heard my english (more horrible you haven't heard)
Much love from Slovakia 🇸🇰 to each country in the world🌏
It's important to promote understanding and respect among different countries and cultures. Rather than focusing on hate, let's embrace diversity and foster positive discussions. Each country has its unique aspects and contributions to offer. Let's celebrate our differences and strive for peace and mutual understanding.
South American here. I'm from Peru, Spanish speaker and I really enjoyed your video. There was one guy who said South America is a country, but it's not. It's a part of the whole continent of America and for those who don't know a lot about South America, you are very welcome to visit any of the 12 countries here and meet the beautiful Latin American culture!
Yes, we know. But some people in Slovakia are not really good frieds with geography.
@dummer Yeah, but it could have been worse. We're still on average a well-educated part of the world, on average, just to emphasize. Nice to see so many people responding with such good insight, as opposed to the video with Russians, where people were just throwing in random countries, just for the fun of it or whatever, didn't see into their heads.
I'm from Hungary and I like Slovakia, I have been many times, have friends there. The people are nice, "normal", and the language is beautiful. A lot of Hungarians like going to the Slovak mountains in the summer to have some cool air. 🙂 Some people complain about history in both, but it's better to live in the present and plan for a good future.
I like Slovakia, greetings from Bulgaria

You can't hate places you have never been too, unless you're at war with them or people from there wronged you.
Slovakia has extremely beautiful woman
I don't like countries where people says that Slovakia is Northen Hungary 😤
Its very sad to see that there are so much people in this country, which dont like their country. I as a half Slovak love my second home country more than Germany (my other home country), because it is so small and still has so much to offer...With regard to some politicians there, I understand the anger, but like most people, badmouthing the whole country because of this is, in my opinion, simply exaggerated. But that's the way the Slovaks are unfortunately, they think that greener grass always grows somewhere else and don't even notice how good it is for them in Slovakia🤷♂️. I will always love this country❤🇸🇰.
Liberals ... they hate everything normal.
@@rom_en lol how did you know they were liberal?
@dummer love and being liberal are not mutually exclusive.
How can a sensibly minded person hate or love a country? My ancestors are from Slovania, Czechia and Poland, my Slavic surname is rather common in those countries as well as in Hungary and Romania so I was told. My mum was able to speak Czech and Polish but I myself have no real feeling for eastern European countries, culture or languages except perhaps for my family's cuisine. I was born and live in Germany, which I neither love nor hate. I spent my childhood in Australia, very British in those days, so my knowledge of that culture is much closer to me. These countries and its people must certainly be beautiful but I never felt the need to learn the language or visit them. Apart from English, I know French and Spanish, so I rather prefer visiting western European countries. I also like going to Scandinavia where I feels much closer to my way of life.
@@magmalin So what would you say about russia today? :3
I was enjoying this, I am of slovak origin. Nice to see Bratislava. I had family north of there in Bukova and Trnava
It's interesting to see that Slovaks don't really hate Hungary, despite our common history with it's goods and bads.
And by the way, have you observed that Slovak and Hungarian women have many facial similarities?
Its because we can’t change the past. Many Hungarians are living in southern Slovakia and we love them and treat them as best as we can❤️
Just drive thru Slovakia with Hungarian license plates and you will see, how SK people likes H people.
I also think Slovakian and Hungarian girls look very similar. My hometown in Hungary had a lot of Slovak settlers, and when I went to Slovakia I felt like I was in my hometown just with maybe happier and friendlier people. (My hometown has some of the friendliest people in Hungary, it is called Nyíregyháza on the Eastern side of Hungary.)
Also Slovak women are just amazingly beautiful and I think Slovak people are funny, just the way they do some thing is very humorous in random ways I think.
"Hungarians" are normal Slavic (Slovaks, Croatians, Serbs) people mixed with some Asiatic people (about all Jews and Gypsies) they speak Turkish language. No one gene found from the old Hungarians. Maybe 4,5%.

Did you know that Vienna and Bratislava are the two closes capitals in the world. Only 80 kilometers or 50 miles. Between the two most driving is done in Austria as Bratislava is almost on the border with Austria.
They are the 2 closest capitals in Europe only!! Kinshasa & Brazzaville are the 2 closest capital in the world (only one mile apart)

@@vickenkodjaian5265 also, technically you could say that Vatican City and Rome are even closer, as Rome literally encompasses Vatican City. Well people look kinda Nice, and the song from the church was lovely. But people there don't look very into warm countries like Brazil 🤪
They didn’t mention Brazil, they said South America. Some Europeans think South America is a country 🤦♂️
Fun Fact !
People in Slovakia dislike Hungary so much that they use the phrase “ Čo si Maďar?” as an insult. Which translates to : “ What? Are you a Hungarian?”
It’s basically the same as saying if someone is a idiot 😂
No ohly that. Also "Are you Italian?" Just somebady who dont understand.

Or "Spanish village" which means "something you don't understand" ...It's a Spanish village to me...
It's not about hate lol
We also say "are you Italian?" when people are not cooperating well... We also say "you are gipsying" when somebody's lying... We also say "it's a Spanish viage to me" when we are confused and don't understand..... We also say "it's cold like in a Russian movie" when we feel cold... We also say "he/she smokes like a Turk" when someone is a heavy smoker.... We also say "he's such a German blood" when someone is overly hard headed about their principles and too punctual.... We also say someone is "a Czech tourist" when they don't have an appropriate shoes or clothing for the given occasion..... Hungary, don't take it personally, plz. This is just the way we communicate. I'm very surprized you had only one "Hungary" and one "Germany" with only "langage" as argument.
Slovakia has been under hungarian domination for a bit more than 1000 years and there's still 10% of hungarian people that live in the south of Slovakia. Cohabitation is sometimes difficult.
Old people would probably have said Russia. And they didn't (and probably still don't) like to speak that langage that they had no choice but to learn.
