Really helpful, thanks. I still don't get why they start counting on 12 sometimes and 1 at other times, but these grooves were a clearer explanation than anything I've heard so far.
# 44 That was great Hiedi. Off the 4 or the 8 or 16 count. I never leave. L O L. It's true. I played for a dancing school many years ago. I never left, everything is still the same. 06/04/2022. Sat. 6:00 pm EST. . Sa'm The Drummer
Hola heidi, tocando el cajón durante un año y yo quería saber qué alimentos me recomiendan para agregar a la "drumset" (crash, ride, hihat ecc). Gracias, perdona mi español, yo solía Google translate.
Counting is a difficult way for people to learn music, . It is easier to sing the rhythm using Notes that you create for each hand position. ie, boom for base and Ka for slap. learn the rhythm as a song and then you will have it memorized and actually be able to hear it in your head, instead of focusing on counting. coming from someone who plays and teaches many different types of drums in traditional style. example Ka boom ka boom ka S(pause) kaboomboom kaka boom KA(the 1, the beginning of the next bar) . For those who don't understand the concept of 12/8 6/8 7/8 etc.. I will give a simple example. let's replace note's with colors, red green blue, for 3 different sounds on a drum. you could play red green blue, over and over and that would be a 3/4 like a waltz. if you played red green blue, blue green green, that would be a 6/8. because the entire length of the rhythm that is repeating is 2 bars of 3/4 you can't repeat just 3 of them or it would not be the same rhythm. a 12/8 example - red green blue, blue red red, red blue green, green green blue. repeat. This is very simplified, each note can be broken up into half notes, quarter notes, 8th's 16th etc. and rests, flams, and many other things can come into play, but this is the basis.
Interesting. I learnt the 7-8 and 6-8 versions recently but I am new to flamenco and while I kind of get a little feeling of the bulerias music from your faster demos, I still feel like I don't fully get this music. Would love to see it with some more context, if you get inspired to do a video on that (context meaning guitarist, or dancers? ) Love your videos btw.
Thanks Heidi. Loving your lessons.
Love this - thanks for the excellent lesson. 🙏🎶

una genia!
that camera moving while you play and talk is extremely frustrating when trying to focus on the beats
SE ESCUCHA LA CAMARA CUANDO INTENTA MANTENER ENFOCADO
What's the zooming sound? auto focus? thats annoying!!
the sound spoil your video!
Knight Mars yep sorry bout that! We will avoid it in future…. :-)
You guys need to fix your auto focus
Yep…. :-) Oh well! next one!
Heidi Joubert The lesson is excellent
:-) Thank you!!! Glad to be of service!
+Heidi Joubert la verdad no me he fijado en eso, para mi lo mas importante es la lección que das
yes, the sound of the lense breaks my concentration, let's hope the next video is better
Is it just me, or does anyone else have trouble hearing you talk? Can you up the volume? I would love to hear your instructions!
Por un momento creí ver a Jane Fonda tocando la caja de flamenco.
🎶🎵👍
For a moment I thought I saw Jane Fonda playing the flamenco box..jeje
🤣
cameraman go from there....you just disturb....
Crazy autofocus, hahahah
ook jjzU
Why not stick to English on beats for English speakers ??
Why not limit yourself to one colour or the rainbow? I find this a rather ridiculous question.
Muy torpe te falta ripmo y notas fantasma
poor sound quality made me switch off!
I wish I had more hands so I could give this comment four thumbs down!
