  • It is important to be one step ahead of the wave so you can surf it according to what it offers. Vision while paddling for the wave will help you know where the wave is, what it's doing and when it will get to you. Knowing these things will help you match your paddling speed and timing to the wave and then you will be ready to surf the wave according to what it offers.

    Fantastic tutorials Shannon.
I’m just a novice trying to learn like the person in the video.
Yes definitely no idea where on the wave when not looking at the shape or position on the wave.
It appears like he doesn’t feel like he has caught the wave and the nose of the board is up. He stops padding, holds the rails as he realises that he is going down the wave.
This is probably a good example of also not knowing when to pop up. Perhaps he may also be better positioned further up the board when paddling?
    Thanks again love your work,
    Cheers Steve.

Thanks for the feedback Steve. Yes you’re right. If a person doesn’t watch the wave or doesn’t know what to look for or what to feel they won’t be ready for popping up at the right time..which will lead to a wipe out 😅
