Hey, can this breed can stay alone for 8 hours? I’m interesting having one…

They are highly independent and they love to spend some time alone doing their own stuff, so just be sure that they had plenty of opportunities to not get bored, from my experience they are more observers than players, and will prefer to lay down near pond or just walk around and patrol territory, somehow it makes them happy to fulfill their guarding duty.

It’s really best to have two dogs. I had a shepherd Akita mix and got a young Japanese Akita and they are besties.

I finally decided to get a Golden Retriever. It is not so different from an Akita.

Cão lindo, leal, ótimo para guarda e companhia. Tive 2, partiram com 15 anos e a ausência ainda dói. Hoje, tenho um pastor, ótimo cão, mas um pedaço do meu coração continua deles. Eterna saudade!❤

Life with an Akita can be a real challenge. Also when going on vacation, meeting other dogs and so on. But this dog is also a wonderful asset. We owe our Yuuki incredibly wonderful experiences and adventures. Never again without an Akita

I will admit it is quite hard to own this dog especially when out on walks because of their stunning appearance. It is especially difficult when they are still under 1 year old, already look like an adult dog and you are still working on acclimating them to people. I still believe in my Akita that he can and will eventually like some strangers if not all!

We have 2 Akita inu now and it’s impossible for us to travel because we can‘t find boarding places for them. But we don’t regret it, nothing can compare to the joy that they brought to our life, especially the tough pandemic years❤

@@minzhu5521 unfortunately that’s something akita owners have to live with, but same as you, no regrets at all here💕 we take them with us if we go on holiday🥰

I have an Akita mix and i work he is very happy to be left with his toys and tv and food and water. When i come home, he wants to go for a walks i have a big garden, but he prefers the street and wants to go his way. Do not let them do this all the time our you will have problems. Very loving and gentle. But he will not go for a walk with anyone else. it just makes him stressed. Dexter is 7 years old

Perfectly fine to leave alone for 8 hours. But if you are asking if the Akita Inu can be left alone every day (for example 5 days/week for work), I think that you will want an outdoor space that is fenced in. If you live in an apartment and are contemplating leaving the dog home alone 8 hrs/day, that is not good for a large dog. Not saying it is not feasible, but I would plan on 60 minutes of vigorous hiking/running in the morning before leaving the dog.

we lived in an appartment with an akita for two years and that's exactly what we did, in the morning and after work you have to make time for a nice and long walk to keep them happy! well said🥰

I think everyone should know not to buy a big dog if you have a small apartment.

100$ for "quality" food / month?? I'm not even from the states, but a much more poor country, and food for my Akita was like 5x more... he ate 0,5kg of fresh meat a day, not mentioning other things and treats . He ate more than me and probably his diet costed just as much as mine 😅

I was talking about kibble, of course raw food is much more expensive😁
