Living vicariously as I recover from breast cancer surgery! I have a cruise planned for an incentive to kick this cancers butt! Thanks for the great tour!!
You’ll definitely kick cancer to the curb! I finished my radiation treatments last month, and technology has improved even since my first round of BC 12 years ago!
I grew up in Grass Valley CA - a small gold mining town in northern California. It has a history of miners from Cornwall England - they brought the Cornish pasties with them - a wonderful food from my childhood.
That’s so cool! I live in Western PA and we have the Czech version of pasties in our bakeries. Many people from Eastern Europe came to this area to work in the steel mills and mines. I never thought about European immigrants going as far west to California for that industry but it certainly makes sense. We all have to follow the jobs…
Tony thank you for the wonderful tour! Once again you have enabled those of us that would be unable to visit this beautiful place the chance to experience it all. Wow, can't thank you enough!
In the 1800's Cornish minors were brought Michigan's Upper Peninsula. They not only brought their mining expertise but also the pasty . The copper mines played out but the pasty is sill made in Michigan especially the UP. They are hand food. Eaten from one end to the other so the juices don't run out. Made usually with onions/potatoes . It was portable and heated up with their mining lamps . Probably can order them online now. ⛏😝
The side crimp on the OG Cornish pasty was a safety design. Tin mining involved a lot of arsenic so the large crimp was a handle to safely eat the pasty without the miner poisoning themselves from the arsenic on their hands, they ate the rest then discarded the crimp which would then serve a secondary function of poisoning any rats in the mine that ate them off the floor. Nowadays we be greedy beggars so we eat the crimp too. Butte Montana is probably about as Cornish as anywhere I've ever seen on TV, the locals there literally look identical to stereotypical indigenous Cornish yokels, they still proudly make pasties there too, I believe they consider it their main local cuisine.
Lanhydrock is my local place to visit, was there Thursday, we are national trust members who take care of it, the ceiling is stunning close up, one of the only times it will happen
I would throughly enjoy seeing all the restoration work. It makes you appreciate the amount of work it takes to keep an estate from that era looking pristine and available for us to enjoy. And to think it was done with no power tools and mass production and Home Depot for all the materials. The people of Fowey must have huge calves, thighs, and lungs.
Agree fully with you. Cruises can give a great sampler of new places, but can leave you wanting more. Which I think is better than wishing to rush back to the ship. 😊. Thanks for sharing.
I really enjoyed that tour, you’re top company and I’m glad you had a good time. There’s rarely a need to worry about cashpoints, I can’t imagine any shops in a tourist village not taking plastic or phone payments. And we never did adopt the euro, Brits simply refused to give up Sterling… I’m surprised we gave up the groat. Have you been to Edinburgh? I ask because you mentioned the steep streets in Cornwall, and yes, these looked a pain… but Edinburgh is worse! Now, tell me if this is annoying, but ‘pasty’ rhymes with ‘nasty’ rather than ‘hasty’. And we pronounce ‘buoy’ as ‘boy’, but the US ‘boo-ey’ is so cute, and not wrong, just different. Hope you’re having a lovely day!
I enjoy it when you film your excursions because I can visit through your videos many of these places that I probably will never get to see in person or revisit and enjoy in my memory the few places that I have seen. -Thank you - I am glad that you are getting to enjoy seeing these places with your friend Tony. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
I've been to London a few times, and now that my son lives there, I was thinking of touring again and seeing Paris, and maybe some other European places; however, after seeing this, I may convince him and his family to take us OUT of London and go visit other areas. It's so beautiful!
Lived my whole life in UK, visited many places and still so much I haven’t seen, honestly there is so much to see. This is a National Trust property, you may want to look into their properties, membership and visitors pass (has to be brought outside UK) to see if it is more economical. My American friends found that it paid for it’s self, as there were many NT properties near where we were staying.
I would love to make that trip to Cornwall, my ancestors are from right there where Lanhydrock is, but I'll just have to live vicariously through your videos. Thanks for taking us along.
The town of Fowey looked beautiful! I could have easily spent a day there! And getting an up close look at that plaster ceiling was incredible! What a terrific tour!
Glad you enjoyed two of our favourite places in the most beautiful county we have in England. Great video Tony keep them coming take care and hi to Don
the Spar is equal to the American 7-11 store. As an expat (Englan to Canada) I like seeing the old Motherland. There was mass immigration to the Americas. Cornish miners as well as North Eastern (My home area) coal miners to West VIrginia and other Rust belt locations for economic wealth and the start of a new life. You can travel around parts of America and hear the British influence in stories, ryhmes and songs. We share a common historical bond past down from generations.
England when the sun shines is a paradise. Nearly all of the UK National Trust properties don't allow pets in the grounds, always something we were sad about when we lived there. Clotted cream OMG I miss that, a food of the gods 😁
Thank you so much Tony...it is so wonderful to enjoy this with you..thanks so much for sharing. So many do not love this kind of thing..I do too..genuine wows are so much fun..makes one feel alive with all of this to go to and see and share and cherish different periods of life.!!! I watch a woman from that area and she lives in Falmouth (sp?) in a 450 year old home with a newly remodeled and more modern interior, so wild that that is nomal in older cities...They have lived there their entire marrired lives and have older children..last ones at home. What a gorgeous wonderful day...thank you. You get things in!! You travel with good balence and get what you can in but make comfort for yourselves. Make it a nice pace.
I’m so glad you had a great time. I’m from the UK and I love Cornwall, but I’ve never been there. It looks a beautiful house. It’s great what they’re doing during conservation work they’re still open. Great to have such lovely weather.
Lovely to see you nigh enjoying life and Cornwall. I’m just in the ne t county of Devon, but only 20 minutes from North Cornwall. I really do hope you both had a fabulous time and enjoyed every minute.
This kind of content is tremendous. Rick Steve needs to watch his back! I really hope you do more of this, because it is good or better than any travelogue I have ever seen. You are a natural in your element doing this.
My Dad moved and lived down near Lanhydrock when he retired 25 years ago. He passed away in 2022, but the last week I spent with him we walked his dogs in the grounds of Lanhydrock (a favourite place to take them), and one day we visited Fowey and sat down by the river at the pub (which you showed) enjoying a drink. Good to see it bathed in sunshine, as I remember it 😊
As a Brit (well English!) I enjoyed seeing this episode. It’s cool to see how you saw the quaint places you visited, and makes me glad to live here. Thanks for sharing your experience!
so interesting as a cruiser from and based in the UK, watching you cruise here ! seeing you visit places in the UK, like we visit places all over the world, and realising how much we take for granted and don't cruise in our own country
I know how you feel. I live near Boston and was surprised to see people cruise from Boston to Maine and Nova Scotia, which I take for granted, but started planning day trips like a tourist.
Cornwall is such a beautiful area. Was there years and years ago, and would be lovely to go back. Have your good walking shoes on! Glad you enjoyed the sausage roll and pastie. Yum. Looking forward to your next videos,
Weird seeing it from the other side. I live just up the road from Lanhydrock and have a shop in Polperro, that a lots of cruise ship tourists visit. We go for afternoon tea at Lanhydrock as a treat. A lot of coastal towns in cornwall are steep, you get used it it eventually
I missed you by 24days. I was at Lanhydrock on the 2nd July and it peed it down. By the way, there is transport from the ticket booth to the house and then back again ETA, it runs frequently and if it isn't there you can request it at the ticket booth or at the gate and they will send it when it is free.
Wow!! 🤩 Loving excurting with you again Tony! By far experiencing different parts of the world would have to be the coolest part of cruising and it opens up our minds so much! ☺️
Cornwall is the site of many books and movies from years ago. Also, my husband and I watch, on BBC, "Escape to the Country". Houses and estates,in UK for sale, with tours. We just watched one in Cornwall. Excellent!
Beautiful town Tony. Fowey. Awesome. Advice, don't go to San Francisco, you won't make it. The hills kill Fowey! Beautiful British town. Can't wait to see your videos of Greenland and Iceland!!! Enjoy. Best Jeff & Sandy Brooklyn NY
How funny, I was here in May and the ceiling was about half cleaned, now it looks almost complete. The National Trust who own Lanhydroc are doing an amazing job in making it more interesting whilst the work continues. I liked the kitchens best , particularly the servants dining hall, which was huge
It's great that you got to go in the order you did for the stops. When my family did that tour, we went to Fowey first and almost nothing was open yet when we were in town. Finally the last 30 minutes, some places started to open.
You are so lucky with the weather. Hi from Australia. My sister lives in Cornwall and yesterday she said at last summer is here and it's nearly August. It is a beautiful county and they speak Gaelic. My nephew speaks Cornish. As for driving in Cornwall, Don is right it is mad. In Australia and America we are used to big roads, Cornish roads are so narrow. The Cornish pasty..pronounced paasty not what you said..that is something very different..if you know what I mean😉 Cornish clotted cream is the best. Also bit of history here. The Cornish pasty was made for the Cornish tin miners to eat in the mine, hence the ends. One end was filled with veggies and meat, while other end was apple. Then they threw away the pastry ends, so they did not contaminate their food with the poison arsenic from tin mining. Clever.
So glad you had a great is it here in cornwall - and you certainly had the weather with you! Fowey is VERY steep! Mum and I use that shuttle bus back up to the car park cause it’s just toooo steep and too far. Perhaps sometime you can come back and stay properly in cornwall - there’s about 400 beaches and so much to see 😊 safe travels!
we really loved you taking us on this tour with you, Tony. It was really really nice man. I was younger. I would love to go there to walk this hills. I couldn’t do it now, but it was well worth it. I love that view and all those shops with those silly little names thanks again!❤🛳️🦩💖⚓️
If you're getting off to walk around, do stop and get a Cornish Pasty. They're very tasty. Of course, you can't miss getting scones with jam and clotted cream. Nobody does gardening like the English. They excel at landscaping. I'm glad I'm not trimming those trees. That would be a job and a half wouldn't it? The ceilings are amazing. To think all that plaster work was applied by hand. How lucky you are to see this in progress. What wonderful flag stone floors. I love Daphne Dumaurie (spelling error). Boots is the English version of Walgreens.
THANK YOU, TONY! As a person in a wheelchair this is the only way I can see these things....I have always wanted to go to the UK, but it seems that I sadly will not be able to go...so I have see the sights through your camera....😢
Thanks for that wonderful tour, Tony. The ceilings in the house were amazing. What talent to create them. Glad you got your Cornish pastie. They are so delicious. Cheers
Beautiful looking inside of the ship. Never seen the inside, only ever see them when they arrive and moor up in the bay. Glad you enjoyed your visit to Cornwall. If you're ever in Falmouth again I recommend Finns for a great pub. Lovely staff, friendly locals and some great beer
So glad you have had time to visit our National Trust houses. I am a national trust member and feel so blest to have these amazing places on my doorstep. Would be
How great you have come to the UK, Cornwall is spectacular and your video showed some of its loveliness. I live in the south of England but even I was encouraged to visit some of the places you went to, showed some of the prettiness that England can produce, and the history is always so interesting. Anyhow thanks for the very good tour! My next cruise is in October and visiting The Canaries, I can't wait, love shiplife.
Living vicariously as I recover from breast cancer surgery! I have a cruise planned for an incentive to kick this cancers butt! Thanks for the great tour!!
Best wishes on your recovery! 💕🙏
You’ll definitely kick cancer to the curb! I finished my radiation treatments last month, and technology has improved even since my first round of BC 12 years ago!
Wishing you a complete recovery
My mom beat breast cancer over thirty years ago, she is celebrating her ninety-fifth orbit of the sun in November 🎉❤. Have fun on your cruise🎉
All the best for your recovery 🙏 God bless x
WOW....The ceiling😮
The craftsmanship was amazing!! Thanks for sharing...

Love seeing you 2 together my 2 favorite I listen to every day
Are you guys there currently? Always wanted to visit the UK, Ireland, and Scotland!
Tony thank you for the wonderful tour! Once again you have enabled those of us that would be unable to visit this beautiful place the chance to experience it all. Wow, can't thank you enough!
@Tony, you are such a gracious and respectful tourist. I'm glad you had the opportunity to experience and share with us.

Do you mean Cornish *miners*?
Sometimes the pasties had meat in one end, jam in the other - lunch and dessert in one! I don’t fancy that…
Cornish miners also settled in Pennsylvania, pasties are still made there.
Living in Michigan, I grew up on pasties. They are always served with gravy no matter where I've bought them. Love those things.
The craftsmanship in these places amazes me. It is beautiful and I am glad that they are preserving it.
Lanhydrock is my local place to visit, was there Thursday, we are national trust members who take care of it, the ceiling is stunning close up, one of the only times it will happen
Imagine the wealth of the family that built and maintained that house, which looks like a palace to me. Stunning artistry and craftsmanship.
Hi Tony and Don! Thanks so much for taking us along with you today to County Cornwall!! Great video!
We don't tend to say county ......... before the name we just say the name ie Cornwall, or Devon etc.

It's because of this that I have always been fascinated by Rick Steves and his approach to touring. Cruising can be much more affordable though.
Amazing tour as always. Can’t wipe the smile off your face
I really enjoyed that tour, you’re top company and I’m glad you had a good time.

You really must come to visit the UK BUT not on a cruise. There is just so much to see and do and I think you will really appreciate it.
Need a Monzo Card Tony!!!!!!!! England has Aways had £ pounds and Pence, we refused to change to Euro’s and cents
I toured Lanhydrock House in the 1970s and remember the kitchen most. Not too many stately homes still have those features.
I enjoy it when you film your excursions because I can visit through your videos many of these places that I probably will never get to see in person or revisit and enjoy in my memory the few places that I have seen. -Thank you - I am glad that you are getting to enjoy seeing these places with your friend Tony. My Mom's family comes from the Cornwall area. Left there for Canada in the Late 1800's. Will have to take a cruise around the island. Thanks Tony.
I've been to London a few times, and now that my son lives there, I was thinking of touring again and seeing Paris, and maybe some other European places; however, after seeing this, I may convince him and his family to take us OUT of London and go visit other areas. It's so beautiful!

I would love to make that trip to Cornwall, my ancestors are from right there where Lanhydrock is, but I'll just have to live vicariously through your videos. Thanks for taking us along.

Glad you enjoyed two of our favourite places in the most beautiful county we have in England. Great video Tony keep them coming take care and hi to Don
apart from yorkshire.
“since brexit nowhere takes euros”? The UK never was in the eurozone, even before we left the EU. You’ve never been able to spend euros in the U.K.
Glad you enjoyed your visit to Kernow and our unseasonal weather
It is so nice and not crowded...everywhere...just right. I love Daphne du Maurier..so cool.
I’d love the chance to compare a traditional Cornish pasty to one of the pasties we can get here in Michigan.
Hey Tony and Don nice to see you both

I hope you got an amazing Cornish pasty and sausage roll to enjoy. They are so good and yummy.
My home country….the UK! We’ve visited Cornwall several times and absolutely love it. Great tour 😊
That was a lovely town. I just love England!
That style of "bush" is called a topiary

Seems like a nice place to hangout for an afternoon.
I missed you by 24days. I was at Lanhydrock on the 2nd July and it peed it down.
By the way, there is transport from the ticket booth to the house and then back again
ETA, it runs frequently and if it isn't there you can request it at the ticket booth or at the gate and they will send it when it is free.
Great vlog! Thanks for taking us with you!

Really enjoyed this video of one of my favorites places, Cornwall! Live in Virginia but have visited Cornwall 6 times, it never gets old 🥰
Falmouth/Cornwall was my favorite stop on our TA in May. We went to Lizard Point for a crazy beautiful, crazy intense walk.
Thank You Tony for the awesome video great too see you and don having a great time...
Cornwall is the site of many books and movies from years ago. Also, my husband and I watch, on BBC, "Escape to the Country". Houses and estates,in UK for
sale, with tours. We just watched one in Cornwall. Excellent!
Great tour in our lovely county of Cornwall. FYI, the UK had the good sense to stay well away from the euro, we have always had the pound.
Impressive tour. Loved the ceiling artwork, such talented artisans. Thanks for sharing this magnificent structure.
Beautiful town Tony. Fowey. Awesome. Advice, don't go to San Francisco, you won't make it. The hills kill Fowey! Beautiful British town. Can't wait to see your videos of Greenland and Iceland!!! Enjoy. Best Jeff & Sandy Brooklyn NY
Lived there in the 90's - it is so beautiful there! Glad you got to taste the local food. Love me a Cornish pasty!!

Another adventure with the team of Tony & Don, great video Tony I enjoyed the entire 31 minutes.
Thanks for sharing your day with us. CHEERS!!😊
It's great that you got to go in the order you did for the stops. When my family did that tour, we went to Fowey first and almost nothing was open yet when we were in town. Finally the last 30 minutes, some places started to open.
Sounds like piss poor planning by the operator.
Cornwall looks stunning! I’m looking forward to any more videos you have of your transatlantic adventure 😊

The steel door at the entrance is stunning!!!
Tony THANKYOU for the beautiful content it is much appreciated
A lot of us will not be able to visit…this beautiful place
Beautiful! Thank you!
Thanks for that wonderful tour, Tony. The ceilings in the house were amazing. What talent to create them. Glad you got your Cornish pastie. They are so delicious. Cheers

Great tour! Those pasties & scones looked so good!
Tony and Don. What a treat
Glad you went to Falmouth UK instead of Falmouth Jamaica. We thought the latter was a bit of a dump.
I have family that live in Falmouth nice to see you on English soil
