My favourite part of Cornwall is on the north side with its fantastic sandy beaches, next time you go, check them out. Me and my sister holiday every year to Perranporth and the area really feels like home for me.
I haven't been to Cornwall for 25 years. That's a depressing thought. Last time I was there was August 11th 1999, for the solar eclipse. And as many who travelled to Cornwall for that event will tell you, in typical British style, it was bleedin' overcast! 🤣🤣
Megan you have come so far, your cinematography and music is sublime, the serene nature of you exploring a part of our country is heart warming, your presence on screen and talking in such love and affection about the scenery makes me want to back to childhood holidays down there, your over powering love and description of our fauna and flora makes you the next David Attenborough in waiting...
I was born in Cornwall (so were my parents and their parents and theirs ad infinitum) but I grew up in South Africa. I returned to Cornwall 6 years ago and being away for so long means I take none of the beauty for granted. Cornwall is in my blood. Cornwall is my mistress.
Actually although not a separate country, Cornwall’s Duchy status makes it technically separate from England, this is very much played down by the English. It is also a Celtic nation like Scotland, Ireland,Wales, Isle of Man with it’s language similar to Breton & Welsh. The Cornish certainly don’t like being called English.
I am from Perranporth, Cornwall originally. I'm glad u r down in kernow. In your next trip, take the train to St Ives and see porthmeor beach. Then have a philps pasty at Hayle. Continue to Godrevy to park and eat it looking at the light house and miles of sand dunes at Hayle Towans. Next time to drive east to Porthtowan for blue bar pub. Continue up the coast to Chapel Porth for the coast walk 40 mile view next to wheal coates old tin mine. Another day try Perranporth, Perran sands and the 6th century lost church of St Piran. Another day, holywell bay and if low tide see the wreck and the ancient holywell. Another day go up past Newquay to Bedruthan steps, then padstow and Tintagel castle (king arthurs so called castle).. Enjoy
Cornwall is a lovely part of the UK - with or without sunny weather. It fiercly retains an identify which is clearly different from the rest of southern England. It is very over-visited in the peak summer months (basically when school's out) but visit in late spring or early summer (as you did) or from mid September to mid October and you'll catch it at best. I live here and have done for well over a decade and honestly I still find out something new about it each week. So much history and mystery to it. If you do a return trip I would say go see Truro Museum (with its egyptian collection and its display of fun automatons), Truro Cathedral which is magnificent, St Mawes and St Ives which are both gorgeous and take a look at historic houses like Lanhydrock, Pencarrow and Cothele. Newquay can be a fun place at the right time of year (5 beaches!) as can Padstow - but avoid peak seasons at most of these places. Newquay has an airport, you can fly from London City to there and rent a car.
Kernow is a magical place, the most unique county in england with its own Patron saint its own flag & anthem, more connected throughout history to the Celtic Countries of the UK than England!.
This was a FANTASTIC video!! I love seeing people thoroughly enjoying all the different places the UK has to offer, rather than sticking to just touristy London areas. As a native Brit, living in a bit of a dreary town, it's sometimes easy to forget just how pretty the land I live in really is. Which is why I enjoy these types of videos so much - it helps me fall back in love with my country all over again and time I'm getting a bit jaded. Visiting the Eden Project is one of my bucket list items, as is visiting the rest of Cornwall - it's SO gorgeous, especially in the sun!!
Another excellent and edifying armchair excursion from our mighty mercurial Megan. I love how your travel blogs are informative without beating us over the head with statistics, and just shae the experience of being there. The camerawork is splendid too. My compliments to your travelling companion. As a motorless native Northerner getting well up in years, these intimate little blogs mean a lot to me.
Well I watched it and gained no information whatsoever. Edifying and informative? Everything is Wow! OMG! or Cool! Nice video spoiled by irritating music and pointless comments.
The Beach at Poryhcurno (where the minimac Theatre is) is a little gteen hut that is a blue plaque building & is where the first Telegraph Cables were laid from to America,Australia, Egypt,India,& Africa by Brunels Great Eastern the only Steam ship that had both the capacity to carry enough cable & also enough Coal to journey both ways as no coal had been discovered in Australia at that time?? Over the years the origional cables wrre replaced with morse cables & more recently fiber optic they still start out from thesame beach but from a modern building hidden further up the beach the little green hut is now a museum, from which worldwide comunications was born & ultimately lead to the WWW & INTERNET!! Even Today the cables carry more traffic than Satelites!!
You like sandy beaches, next time go to the North coast of Cornwall. A tip I learned as a child. If it is raining on the South Coast, then go to the North Coast, usually fine. You also need to check out Devon as well :)
I visited Cornwall in 2008. The Eden Project, Falmouth area, Trebah Gardens, Penzance, St Michael's Mount. What a lovely place to be... I could live there!
I hate to be boring, but for the record the most southerly part of the UK is in the Scilly Isles and Lizard Point is the most southerly on the mainland. 👨🎓
I just subscribed, stunning video. I can't believe they are charging to take a photo in front of the Lands end sign. As a brit living in the East Midlands, I think it should be a voluntary donation to the air ambulance instead. Thankyou, I loved this, as the last time I was here was in the early 90s. ❤
I believe that Land's End was actually sold to an American company: that seems credible, as the last time I went to Land's End it had been turned into a ghastly theme park complete with inappropriate themes, and slushies. It made me very sad, and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
Oh had to say worst decision ever to go to lands end, us Cornish HATE IT. Peter de Savary, a London businessman destroyed lands end by build the start of the theme park, subsequent owners have just extended it! When I was a child it was ALL FREE, and the only building for miles was the first and last house! The rest was just walks and miles of wild life and common gauze with its bright yellow flows as far as the eye can see. Hence why we hate the theme park and de Savary for! 👍
If you ever get the chance, take the trip over from Penzance, Cornwall to The Isles Of Scilly. One of the most wonderful places in The UK and actually where the most Southerly (and South Westerly) point of The UK is (Lizard is the most Southerly of mainland UK). The beaches and sea look almost Caribbean (but not in temperature).
Here’s something that will blow your mind there’s a rail track under the sand that is used to supply the Mount during long spells of storms that we get often in Cornwall, to allow for goods to be sent from the mainland in a large chest cart that runs under the sand! If you Google st Michael’s mount freight railway I’m sure you’ll find some information. Most people don’t even know it’s there! Hope you had an amazing time in my home of Kernow! X
Been living here 40 years. Still find that little cove or Pub or cafe that I've never been to before. There are some hidden gems here for sure... Might have to explore to find them though. 😉 I've travelled all over the world, but Cornwall, It's far from perfect but I'd not want to live anywhere else.
May I congratulate you on an excellent produced vlog the It was professionally superb and photographically the scenography was first class. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is over 60 + years since I was in Cornwall and it brought back memories. It is nice to see you enjoying life, I wish you all the best in you future adventures, Take care sweetheart and God Bless.
Yah were not having the best summer this year. Hay you have time before returning to London pay a visit to wokie hole on your drive home look it up its in the cheaper gorge
Hi Megan, glad you had a good time in my county! You went to some great places, the only one of those places I wouldn't recommend is Lands End - a bit crap really. I'd definitely recommend St Ives next time, it's beautiful - but not in August! Looe, too, where I live is lovely and next door Polperro - and the north coast is a must - St Agnes, Perranporth, Holywell, Padstow etc, etc.
Why can’t the English be more considerate to the Cornish population? Stay away from Cornwall!! You do nothing but clog up the place with your Caravans, motor homes etc!
8:28 is a perfect example of dichotomous nature of the UK. The harsh bare rocks on the edge of the sea are beautiful in their own bleak way, but then those same rocks on the higher cliffs are covered in dark green and so much more special ( for me ). It is one of the upsides to plenty of rain, there are a thousand shades of green in nature, and those deep dark rain born greens on a sunny day are great.
Not just Cornwall, which admittedly is very beautiful, but there are wonderful places all across the UK, North to South, East to West, there are many, many beautiful places to visit, One lifetime is not enough. By the way you must have been unlucky with your beach visits, nearly all beaches in the UK that I have visited in my 77 years have had lovely sand. You also had one statement wrong, parts of the UK is not like the Mediterranean, rather the Mediterranean, at last the European part, is like the UK.
@notme1345 Impossible - 14 years of Tory incompetence, corruption and misrule have already done that. That's why only the rich can afford to live there.
I like pebbly beaches by towns - That way you can chill on the beach but then head back into the town for drinks food etc. That is why I like Brighton! If I want to have a beach holiday, then I head to Pembrokeshire for the sandy beaches :)
I think most wish that after they 'discovered' Australia and NZ, they moved England 'down under' instead of staying in that tiny, cold, island where they are now!
I mostly watch you do reactions but just want to say you're really good at vlogging and all the angles, the scenes are so smooth and what you capture is beauitful. Welcome to the UK :)
Cornwall, England looks so amazing with beautiful views & many great things to do there! I've enjoyed watching this vlog of one of the most fantastic places here in UK! Have a beautiful week Megan! ❤💂♂🏴ɢʙ
You certainly chose the right time to go in that lovely weather.☀️ Lands End is a bit tacky but worth the visit. If you enjoyed St Michael's Mount then take a trip to the North East to go to Holy Island. You can also walk to it when the tide's out using the pilgrims route. And there are sandy beaches in the North East! Glad you both had a great time ❤ If you do go back then maybe check out Padstow, Looe and the RNLI memorial to the Penlee lifeboat in Mousehole. ❤
Roundabouts. Slow down on them if you have a passenger that suffers with motion sickness. Doing that will help a lot. Educate your driver. Cornering slower will also help. Eat some Ginger cake before journey. It will help.
I lived in London for 6 years when I was offered a job at 19, it was great at that age, I even did the obligatory walk every person not from London seems to do along the stony beach in Brighton 😀But when I was offered a transfer near my old home in the Marches (The Shires on the England/Wales border) when I hit my mid 20s I jumped at the chance. I now live about 5 miles from my old family home, about 60 to 90mins away from the sandy beaches of South Wales, I have the Black Mountains rising up in the fields behind my house, and from the front of the house, I have a lake about 100m away and a ruined castle which I can see from a bedroom window, would I live in a big City now? Not a chance, I'm an outdoorsy person, only really happy in hiking boots, climbing or on my MTB, the big city, did it, wouldn't do it again. 🙂
I am currently on a holiday on the north Devon/ Cornwall boarder. I'm staying at Bucks Cross ( Devon ) right on the ocean coastline, just a few miles up the A39 Atlantic Highway from the Cornwall border. For the best beaches, you'll want to visit Newquay and Bude in North Cornwall , i was at Bude a couple of days ago,in fact, i went two days on the trot.!! Also, North Devon has some very nice sandy beaches as well ,Staunton Sands i went to yesterday, and there's another beach just a bit further around the headland called Ruda. All these beaches are surfers paradises, with great facilities.. Get back down here and spend more time.. I'm on a two week break, and I've still got a week and a half to go.!! More beaches for me.. Another great place to visit again just down the road from where i am is the coastal village of Clovelly. Where no vehicles can go, it's a privately owned village with a visitors centre ,well worth a Google nd a visit..!! Great video, btw..🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧👍✌️❤️
Glad you got out of the London bubble for a Cornish one. Stop being a wuss about cold water 🌊 and get in there lass! Do you good. Try visiting the beaches on the Isle of Harris and walk the sands there, plus learn a few phrases of Scots Gaelic. It's beautiful too.
Hi Megan! The UK has a lot of coastline so lots of beaches. Some are rocky, some pebbly, some sandy and some muddy. You are spoilt for choice. Keep Reacting!
Visiting *Lands End* is only worth it. If you're going to be visiting *John o' Groats* as well. That's the only reason I went. Just to get my picture taken at both locations. 603 miles (970km) apart, as the grow flies. tee hee!!
My family and I have never made it to the Eden Project (yet), in spite of more than two decades worth of summer holidays in Cornwall! So thank you for the delightful video of it. A couple of things though; if memory serves the Lizard is a fair old drive (1 hour plus) from the Eden Project, so if you get car sick perhaps not the best choice, secondly (though this only works if you drive) you won't get car sick if you do the driving! Finally you might try going to the craft fare in St. Just (in August) it's amazing! Lands end is worth *one* visit but that's it. I think you are hooked - one visit to Cornwall is *never* enough!
I think you will find that the Scilly Isles are part of the United Kingdom and the most southern part. The Channel Islands though are different, only being a Crown Dependency. An excellent video; Cornwall, its people, culture, language and customs are magical.
Its easy to forget just how beautiful the uk really is especially on the day the sun shines, love, love, love this country, all that was missing was a couple of hundred dogs running free.
The coolest thing about The Eden Project? 1 price of admission (ticket) gives you unlimited access for a year. My last visit as a holidayer I went 4 times in a fortnight. Highly recommended, a big bucket list tick. Stunning architecture, art and of course the plants.
I used to live not far from the Eden Project...my kids had seen something about it and were bugging their mother and I to go there. So we're in the car one day and the kids were asking where we were going...with me just saying 'You'll find out when we get there'. Well...if you could have heard the excitement in their voices once they had spotted the signs basically saying 'This way to the Eden project'. It's fantastic there...seriously. Carnivorous plants...( Venus flytraps ) and so much more. REALLY worth taking the trip there !
A sun/ocean/beer loving Canadian , I dated someone like that for 4yrs , also , I spent 19yrs living in West Cornwall ... One year short of a free pasty !!! 😂
That brings back some memories! I went to school in Cornwall and used to get dragged to the Minack to watch plays all the time. The beach next door - Portcurno - is one of the best in the world, in my opinion.
Created in an old disused quarry, the Eden Project is quite unique. The architect who designed it, got inspiration from bubbles in a washing up bowl.... It's a stunning place to visit....
I have not got round to visiting the Eden Project yet, but I did have a guided tour of the site when it was a working quarry owned by English China Clays. I remember looking down at a lorry that looked like a Dinky toy and when it came up and drove past us the wheels were bigger than I am.
Yeah, along with the Trojans we are also told! Nah! It was the English that subdued the indigenous Cornish population. And continue to do so to this day!!
Sorry, if you think that most beach's in the UK are "pebbly" you must be going to the wrong places, 90% are sandy.
There are a lot of pebble beaches... its nowhere near 90% sandy.
@@1aatlas You haven't visited many UK beached then!
Yeah lots of nice sandy places if only sewage was not dumped into our coast line and waterways
@@RavenShinyThings What beaches are you going to? 🤣🤣

Cornwall is absolutely beautiful
And in England a region of the UK

My homeland 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
The Minack is the most magical place to watch theatre, opera and many other genres of performances.
Roads in the UK are not small or tiny... they can be narrow, and that's the price we pay for beautiful country- and sea- sides.
I live down in Penzance so it was great to see you guys down here enjoying Cornwall. Have a good trip x
Me too, how lucky was she with the weather?!
Happy Mazey Day!
I didn't see you have a single Cornish pasty or cream tea or Cornish ice cream. Was that even Cornish cider you were drinking? 🤨
You have hardly even scratched the surface of Cornwall! St Ives, Newquay, Haytor Vale, etc etc

@@vallee3140 That's exactly it!
You have obviously never made love on a pebble beach…Try it at Brighton, and tell me what you think?
I like pebbly beaches by towns - That way you can chill on the beach but then head back into the town for drinks food etc. That is why I like Brighton! If I want to have a beach holiday, then I head to Pembrokeshire for the sandy beaches :)
Canadian - water too cold in Cornwall - does not compute
I bet most of you with British heritage are wishing your ancestors never got on the Mayflower now! 😁😂
I think most wish that after they 'discovered' Australia and NZ, they moved England 'down under' instead of staying in that tiny, cold, island where they are now!
Really? Do you imagine that North America is somehow lacking in its own natural beauty. Or, are you just plain stupid?
Beautiful. I live in Devon, so I’m very lucky living in and close to, two great counties.
You may be happy to live in a County of England. But many Cornish folk are not!! So keep your County loving agenda to yourself!!
I mostly watch you do reactions but just want to say you're really good at vlogging and all the angles, the scenes are so smooth and what you capture is beauitful. Welcome to the UK :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Thank you 😊
Just wondered did your family descend from Ireland as Ruth is a Irish name mainly from Kilkenny 🤔
Nope! Scottish and Welsh. Ruth is my middle name 😊
Cornwall, England looks so amazing with beautiful views & many great things to do there! I've enjoyed watching this vlog of one of the most fantastic places here in UK! Have a beautiful week Megan! ❤💂♂🏴ɢʙ
Thanks Falcom! Have a great week :)
Ah! Cornwall, England. It seems the old Colonial spirit is being kept alive by you, FalcomScott?
Scilly Isles are a must, take your cossie.
Cornwall is amazing. Just wonderful. You need to go to Fistral Beach. But slightly off season, if possible - it gets BUSY.
Animals. Cuddles. Yup; onboard with that. Even cuddly toys. Totally.
Glad you both had a great time ❤
If you do go back then maybe check out Padstow, Looe and the RNLI memorial to the Penlee lifeboat in Mousehole.
If your not a fan of roundabouts, don't come to Milton Keynes, lol
"All My Life's A Circle."
I worked in MK a good few years ago, is "the point" nightclub still open?
Wow, do you want to be ripped apart by wild dogs after they have ripped each other apart! 🤭
@@neilpearce Neil you've got your wires crossed, I didn't mean feral dogs, I meant dogs that their owners have let off their leaders.
Pembrokeshire is Cornwall without the tourists. Better for it. Take a look sometime
❤ from Northeast England ❤️
So happy. Love it.😂❤
Newquay . The place
Good looking video!
Helligan is wonderful - but there are few things in this world as pleasant as scratching a Donkey's ears.
14:56 I think you were smelling petrichor. The earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil.
Did you stay in St Awful?
I only ask because three locations were very close-by.
I have not got round to visiting the Eden Project yet, but I did have a guided tour of the site when it was a working quarry owned by English China Clays. I remember looking down at a lorry that looked like a Dinky toy and when it came up and drove past us the wheels were bigger than I am.
Go to Sennen Cove, not Lands End tourist trap (sorry if you are earning a living from it!).
Did you know that some of the Lost Tribes of Israel (Dan) settled in Cornwall all those years ago?
Yeah, along with the Trojans we are also told! Nah! It was the English that subdued the indigenous Cornish population. And continue to do so to this day!!
London is a staggering global city! Getting away from it can be such a breathe of fresh air :) x
