Newquay can be a fun place at the right time of year (5 beaches!) as can Padstow - but avoid peak seasons at most of these places. Newquay has an airport, you can fly from London City to there and rent a car.
Lovely video , great views of Cornwall, glad you had good weather, the Minack theatre must be the most off the beaten track venue in the UK,spent a fortnight down the a little down the coast at Porthcurno ,we could hear the performance most nights, glad you had a good time ❤❤.
This was a FANTASTIC video!! I love seeing people thoroughly enjoying all the different places the UK has to offer, rather than sticking to just touristy London areas. As a native Brit, living in a bit of a dreary town, it's sometimes easy to forget just how pretty the land I live in really is. Which is why I enjoy these types of videos so much - it helps me fall back in love with my country all over again and time I'm getting a bit jaded. My compliments to your travelling companion. As a motorless native Northerner getting well up in years, these intimate little blogs mean a lot to me.
Well I watched it and gained no information whatsoever. Edifying and informative? Everything is Wow! OMG! or Cool! Nice video spoiled by irritating music and pointless comments.
I am from Perranporth, Cornwall originally. I'm glad u r down in kernow. In your next trip, take the train to St Ives and see porthmeor beach. Then have a philps pasty at Hayle. Continue to Godrevy to park and eat it looking at the light house and miles of sand dunes at Hayle Towans. Next time to drive east to Porthtowan for blue bar pub. Continue up the coast to Chapel Porth for the coast walk 40 mile view next to wheal coates old tin mine. Another day try Perranporth, Perran sands and the 6th century lost church of St Piran. Another day, holywell bay and if low tide see the wreck and the ancient holywell. Another day go up past Newquay to Bedruthan steps, then padstow and Tintagel castle (king arthurs so called castle).. Enjoy
I haven't been to Cornwall for 25 years. That's a depressing thought. Last time I was there was August 11th 1999, for the solar eclipse. And as many who travelled to Cornwall for that event will tell you, in typical British style, it was bleedin' overcast! 🤣🤣
8:28 is a perfect example of dichotomous nature of the UK. The harsh bare rocks on the edge of the sea are beautiful in their own bleak way, but then those same rocks on the higher cliffs are covered in dark green and so much more special ( for me ). It is one of the upsides to plenty of rain, there are a thousand shades of green in nature, and those deep dark rain born greens on a sunny day are great.
I just subscribed, stunning video. I can't believe they are charging to take a photo in front of the Lands end sign. As a brit living in the East Midlands, I think it should be a voluntary donation to the air ambulance instead. Thankyou, I loved this, as the last time I was here was in the early 90s. ❤
I believe that Land's End was actually sold to an American company: that seems credible, as the last time I went to Land's End it had been turned into a ghastly theme park complete with inappropriate themes, and slushies. It made me very sad, and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
Here’s something that will blow your mind there’s a rail track under the sand that is used to supply the Mount during long spells of storms that we get often in Cornwall, to allow for goods to be sent from the mainland in a large chest cart that runs under the sand! If you Google st Michael’s mount freight railway I’m sure you’ll find some information. Most people don’t even know it’s there! Hope you had an amazing time in my home of Kernow! X
May I congratulate you on an excellent produced vlog the It was professionally superb and photographically the scenography was first class. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is over 60 + years since I was in Cornwall and it brought back memories. It is nice to see you enjoying life, I wish you all the best in you future adventures, Take care sweetheart and God Bless.
That brings back some memories! I went to school in Cornwall and used to get dragged to the Minack to watch plays all the time. The beach next door - Portcurno - is one of the best in the world, in my opinion.
Cornwall, England looks so amazing with beautiful views & many great things to do there! I've enjoyed watching this vlog of one of the most fantastic places here in UK! Have a beautiful week Megan! ❤💂♂🏴ɢʙ
Well done Megan, you seemed to pack in a lot in the time you spent here in my home county. So glad that you enjoyed it and many thanks for showing Cornwall off in it's best light, for that you get a sub.
Kernow is a magical place, the most unique county in england with its own Patron saint its own flag & anthem, more connected throughout history to the Celtic Countries of the UK than England!.
The Beach at Poryhcurno (where the minimac Theatre is) is a little gteen hut that is a blue plaque building & is where the first Telegraph Cables were laid from to America,Australia, Egypt,India,& Africa by Brunels Great Eastern the only Steam ship that had both the capacity to carry enough cable & also enough Coal to journey both ways as no coal had been discovered in Australia at that time?? Over the years the origional cables wrre replaced with morse cables & more recently fiber optic they still start out from thesame beach but from a modern building hidden further up the beach the little green hut is now a museum, from which worldwide comunications was born & ultimately lead to the WWW & INTERNET!! Even Today the cables carry more traffic than Satelites!!
Created in an old disused quarry, the Eden Project is quite unique. The architect who designed it, got inspiration from bubbles in a washing up bowl.... It's a stunning place to visit....
Its easy to forget just how beautiful the uk really is especially on the day the sun shines, love, love, love this country, all that was missing was a couple of hundred dogs running free.
The coolest thing about The Eden Project? 1 price of admission (ticket) gives you unlimited access for a year. My last visit as a holidayer I went 4 times in a fortnight. Highly recommended, a big bucket list tick. Stunning architecture, art and of course the plants.
I have not got round to visiting the Eden Project yet, but I did have a guided tour of the site when it was a working quarry owned by English China Clays. I remember looking down at a lorry that looked like a Dinky toy and when it came up and drove past us the wheels were bigger than I am.
You like sandy beaches, next time go to the North coast of Cornwall. A tip I learned as a child. If it is raining on the South Coast, then go to the North Coast, usually fine. You also need to check out Devon as well :)
Hi Megan, glad you had a good time in my county! You went to some great places, the only one of those places I wouldn't recommend is Lands End - a bit crap really. I'd definitely recommend St Ives next time, it's beautiful - but not in August! Looe, too, where I live is lovely and next door Polperro - and the north coast is a must - St Agnes, Perranporth, Holywell, Padstow etc, etc.
Why can’t the English be more considerate to the Cornish population? Stay away from Cornwall!! You do nothing but clog up the place with your Caravans, motor homes etc!
I used to live not far from the Eden Project...my kids had seen something about it and were bugging their mother and I to go there. So we're in the car one day and the kids were asking where we were going...with me just saying 'You'll find out when we get there'. Well...if you could have heard the excitement in their voices once they had spotted the signs basically saying 'This way to the Eden project'. It's fantastic there...seriously. Carnivorous plants...( Venus flytraps ) and so much more. REALLY worth taking the trip there !
Fabulous video! Cornwall is gorgeous! I’ve yet to visit the lost gardens of heligan, but lucky to see most other places my last few visits. Hopefully I’ll get to go again. ❤
If you ever get the chance, take the trip over from Penzance, Cornwall to The Isles Of Scilly. One of the most wonderful places in The UK and actually where the most Southerly (and South Westerly) point of The UK is (Lizard is the most Southerly of mainland UK). The beaches and sea look almost Caribbean (but not in temperature).
You certainly chose the right time to go in that lovely weather.☀️ Lands End is a bit tacky but worth the visit. If you enjoyed St Michael's Mount then take a trip to the North East to go to Holy Island. You can also walk to it when the tide's out using the pilgrims route. And there are sandy beaches in the North East! Glad you both had a great time ❤ If you do go back then maybe check out Padstow, Looe and the RNLI memorial to the Penlee lifeboat in Mousehole. ❤
So glad you got to enjoy Cornwall, an amazing country. It made me chuckle that a Canadian is afraid to get cold in the sea. It never gets very cold I Cornwall.
My family and I have never made it to the Eden Project (yet), in spite of more than two decades worth of summer holidays in Cornwall! So thank you for the delightful video of it. A couple of things though; if memory serves the Lizard is a fair old drive (1 hour plus) from the Eden Project, so if you get car sick perhaps not the best choice, secondly (though this only works if you drive) you won't get car sick if you do the driving! Finally you might try going to the craft fare in St. Just (in August) it's amazing! Lands end is worth *one* visit but that's it. I think you are hooked - one visit to Cornwall is *never* enough!
I am currently on a holiday on the north Devon/ Cornwall boarder. I'm staying at Bucks Cross ( Devon ) right on the ocean coastline, just a few miles up the A39 Atlantic Highway from the Cornwall border. For the best beaches, you'll want to visit Newquay and Bude in North Cornwall , i was at Bude a couple of days ago,in fact, i went two days on the trot.!! Also, North Devon has some very nice sandy beaches as well ,Staunton Sands i went to yesterday, and there's another beach just a bit further around the headland called Ruda. All these beaches are surfers paradises, with great facilities.. Get back down here and spend more time.. I'm on a two week break, and I've still got a week and a half to go.!! More beaches for me.. Another great place to visit again just down the road from where i am is the coastal village of Clovelly. Where no vehicles can go, it's a privately owned village with a visitors centre ,well worth a Google nd a visit..!! Great video, btw..🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧👍✌️❤️
Been living here 40 years. Still find that little cove or Pub or cafe that I've never been to before. There are some hidden gems here for sure... Might have to explore to find them though. 😉 I've travelled all over the world, but Cornwall, It's far from perfect but I'd not want to live anywhere else.
Hi Megan! The UK has a lot of coastline so lots of beaches. Some are rocky, some pebbly, some sandy and some muddy. You are spoilt for choice. Keep Reacting!
I hate to be boring, but for the record the most southerly part of the UK is in the Scilly Isles and Lizard Point is the most southerly on the mainland. 👨🎓
A sun/ocean/beer loving Canadian , I dated someone like that for 4yrs , also , I spent 19yrs living in West Cornwall ... One year short of a free pasty !!! 😂
great travelog. So happy you went to the Minack, I missed out on that as I was staying in Penzance for only a couple of days before moving on the the Scilly Isles. I actually took the bus from Penzance to Lands End and walked back mostly along the coast...great day out. I do though recommend that you try and got the the Isles of Scilly at some time...if you thought the waters you just saw were blue like the Mediterranean then you've seen nothing yet
I think you will find that the Scilly Isles are part of the United Kingdom and the most southern part. The Channel Islands though are different, only being a Crown Dependency. An excellent video; Cornwall, its people, culture, language and customs are magical.
Visiting *Lands End* is only worth it. If you're going to be visiting *John o' Groats* as well. That's the only reason I went. Just to get my picture taken at both locations. 603 miles (970km) apart, as the grow flies. tee hee!!
I lived in London for 6 years when I was offered a job at 19, it was great at that age, I even did the obligatory walk every person not from London seems to do along the stony beach in Brighton 😀But when I was offered a transfer near my old home in the Marches (The Shires on the England/Wales border) when I hit my mid 20s I jumped at the chance. I now live about 5 miles from my old family home, about 60 to 90mins away from the sandy beaches of South Wales, I have the Black Mountains rising up in the fields behind my house, and from the front of the house, I have a lake about 100m away and a ruined castle which I can see from a bedroom window, would I live in a big City now? Not a chance, I'm an outdoorsy person, only really happy in hiking boots, climbing or on my MTB, the big city, did it, wouldn't do it again. 🙂
I've only been to the Lizard once and I did it by bicycle...oh and it's 'mainland' UK, not the southernmost if you count places like Jersey and Guernsey
Jersey and Guernsey are not part of the UK….Never have been, never will be! They are merely Crown dependencies! You were allowing a little bit of of the old colonialism to slip out there bud! Be more watchful in future!
Actually although not a separate country, Cornwall’s Duchy status makes it technically separate from England, this is very much played down by the English. It is also a Celtic nation like Scotland, Ireland,Wales, Isle of Man with it’s language similar to Breton & Welsh. The Cornish certainly don’t like being called English.
In terms of sand beaches, you're best visiting west and north West parts of the UK as they are the oldest sea fronts and have had the most rock erosion. The south and east coast of England only met water 9,000 years ago with the sinking of Doggerland. Up to that point Britain was attached to France and Denmark by fertile plains. Come back in 12,000 years and the beaches will be sandy 😊
There's alot of sandy beaches in Kent margate,Broadstairs,Westgate, Ramsgate, botany Bay, name just a couple, even more than that in Kent which I did not mention.😊
I like pebbly beaches by towns - That way you can chill on the beach but then head back into the town for drinks food etc. That is why I like Brighton! If I want to have a beach holiday, then I head to Pembrokeshire for the sandy beaches :)
I sometimes forget how beautiful this country is. Born a city lad but joined the RN and spent many years in the west country. Now back in the city and very annoyed with myself for not getting out more. Thank you for a well deserved kick in the arse
Cornwall is absolutely beautiful
And in England a region of the UK
I visited Cornwall in 2008. The Eden Project, Falmouth area, Trebah Gardens, Penzance, St Michael's Mount. What a lovely place to be... I could live there!
Whaaat?! 93% of the beaches are sand. Of that 70% are white fine grain and the rest are thicker yellow sand or coarse sand beaches. On a sunny day, like today you can forget you're in the UK with the palm trees and clear or turquoise water.. DEFINITELY check out more of the coast!
I had no idea some of these places existed. Amazing video
Been to Cornwall quite a few times Dorset is also a lovely part of the south west coast.
My favourite part of Cornwall is on the north side with its fantastic sandy beaches, next time you go, check them out. Me and my sister holiday every year to Perranporth and the area really feels like home for me.
I live down in Penzance so it was great to see you guys down here enjoying Cornwall. Have a good trip x

Happy Mazey Day!

It is very over-visited in the peak summer months (basically when school's out) but visit in late spring or early summer (as you did) or from mid September to mid October and you'll catch it at best. If you do a return trip I would say go see Truro Museum (with its egyptian collection and its display of fun automatons), Truro Cathedral which is magnificent, St Mawes and St Ives which are both gorgeous and take a look at historic houses like Lanhydrock, Pencarrow and Cothele. Newquay can be a fun place at the right time of year (5 beaches!) as can Padstow - but avoid peak seasons at most of these places. So many sandy beaches in the UK, you need to get outside London more often
I was born in Cornwall (so were my parents and their parents and theirs ad infinitum) but I grew up in South Africa. I returned to Cornwall 6 years ago and being away for so long means I take none of the beauty for granted. Cornwall is in my blood. Cornwall is my mistress.
My homeland 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
The Minack is the most magical place to watch theatre, opera and many other genres of performances.

Roads in the UK are not small or tiny... they can be narrow, and that's the price we pay for beautiful country- and sea- sides.
You missed a great walk, sennen cove to lands end across the cliff tops, amazing 👍🏻
Sorry, if you think that most beach's in the UK are "pebbly" you must be going to the wrong places, 90% are sandy.
There are a lot of pebble beaches... its nowhere near 90% sandy.
@@1aatlas You haven't visited many UK beached then!
Yeah lots of nice sandy places if only sewage was not dumped into our coast line and waterways
@@RavenShinyThings What beaches are you going to? 🤣🤣

Lovely travel blog
Thank you! 😊
Awesome video Megan. I love it when you do travel vlogs.
Thank you! 😊
Been living here 40 years. Still find that little cove or Pub or cafe that I've never been to before. There are some hidden gems here for sure... Might have to explore to find them though. 😉
I've travelled all over the world, but Cornwall, It's far from perfect but I'd not want to live anywhere else.
The sea is never warm enough.
Very nice :)
Lovely to watch!
14:56 I think you were smelling petrichor. The earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil.
Hi Megan! The UK has a lot of coastline so lots of beaches. Some are rocky, some pebbly, some sandy and some muddy. You are spoilt for choice. Keep Reacting!
You need to go to North Cornwall for sandy beaches, they are drvine
I will add, that Megan only really visited the south coast of Cornwall, theres so much more to find beyond this.
Did Megan meet any indigenous Cornish folk? I doubt it somehow.
@@DerekLangdon Yes and they told her 'f*ck off ya townie buggers'
excellent thanks
I hate to be boring, but for the record the most southerly part of the UK is in the Scilly Isles and Lizard Point is the most southerly on the mainland. 👨🎓
They’re called the *Isles of Scilly (for the record 😉)
@@TC-jg3cz I stand corrected. It's encouraging to know that there are people as boring as me out there. 🙂
Why are we getting all orgasmic over the highly polluted seas off of Cornwall?
You were also at Britain’s most westerly point when you were at Lands End
Brill vid, great photography, editing. Seems odd your out of your studio, doing an outside broadcast. I can see your legs! LOL!
The standard width of a single lane for roads is determined by 2 horses bums wide since roman times.
I live about an hour from the gardens but I've never actually been, lol
FYI The southern tip of Cornwall is at the same latitude as Winnipeg.
I think you will find that the Scilly Isles are part of the United Kingdom and the most southern part. The Channel Islands though are different, only being a Crown Dependency. An excellent video; Cornwall, its people, culture, language and customs are magical.
London is a staggering global city! Getting away from it can be such a breathe of fresh air :) x
St Michael's Mount AKA Driftmark from House Of The Dragon
Scilly Isles are a must, take your cossie.
You missed out St I'ves and porthcurno beach x
I've only been to the Lizard once and I did it by bicycle...oh and it's 'mainland' UK, not the southernmost if you count places like Jersey and Guernsey
Jersey and Guernsey are not part of the UK….Never have been, never will be! They are merely Crown dependencies! You were allowing a little bit of of the old colonialism to slip out there bud! Be more watchful in future!
The Channel Islands are not actually part of the UK, so the southernmost point in the UK is still actually in Cornwall, on the Isles of Scilly.
Im very lucky to live in falmouth
you having a laugh? Falmouth over the next few years will be completely rundown!!
Sorry to correct you Cornwall is in England, it's not it's own country like Wales and Scotland
Yes a county in england 🏴 These Americans eh ha ha
Actually although not a separate country, Cornwall’s Duchy status makes it technically separate from England, this is very much played down by the English. It is also a Celtic nation like Scotland, Ireland,Wales, Isle of Man with it’s language similar to Breton & Welsh.
The Cornish certainly don’t like being called English.
Surprised you didnt go to sennen cove and penzance and st ives
The sea is warmest in October if you fancy a swim. 😁
Good looking video!
In 1986 my late wife and I stayed at the Pollurion Hotel for our honeymoon.
Porthcurno beach and the minack theatre is the best x
Did you stay in St Awful?
I only ask because three locations were very close-by.
I call Cornwall 'Poundshop Florida'.
(And I live here!)
It sounds like you haven't been to Florida.
Fascinating! Thank you! 😊
Fertile plains? Yawn!
There's alot of sandy beaches in Kent margate,Broadstairs,Westgate, Ramsgate, botany Bay, name just a couple, even more than that in Kent which I did not mention.😊
There are plenty of sandy beaches in the south and east coast??????
I hope you’ve tried the clotted cream and scones.
Pass the Nearly There trees and you are in Heaven on Earth (on the 3 nice weather days of the summer😂) I'm lucky to call Cornwall my home.
isle of Scilly most southern uk point, most northern uk is shetland
I always seem to find sandy beaches. I prefer pebbles.
me too I hate sand getting into my shoes ugh
@@vallee3140 That's exactly it!
You have obviously never made love on a pebble beach…Try it at Brighton, and tell me what you think?
I like pebbly beaches by towns - That way you can chill on the beach but then head back into the town for drinks food etc. That is why I like Brighton! If I want to have a beach holiday, then I head to Pembrokeshire for the sandy beaches :)
