And thanks for another great video!

Just recently I've done another playthrough of this game. It surely has some flaws but the nostalgia and especially the sound always make me revisit it from time to time. Also the AI is one of the best in any track-race ever, even till this day. Aggressive but not brain dead, it was sooo fun fighting them.

Bro in my country gas is really expensive so sometimes I just take this game on my phone, headphones at max volume, take a car and run 20 or 30 laps in time trial races. It's almost good as NFS (blackbox era) engine sounds. I really love how cars sounds in Grid Autosport. (unfortunately in mobile is not possible play in manual transmission 😢)
Ok that's a really good attention to detail with the P1. The flaming exhaust pipe was one of the main point of the initial demo video of the car back in the day.

I feel like most Codemasters racing games in general have great sounds. Though in all fairness, I think it helps that they are using samples for modified cars (generally, racecars). I don't think any developer has been able to achieve sound manipulation mechanics where the game can have factory/OEM cars that sound stock and also manipulate those sounds when the player modifies the car and have that sound accurate also. In other words, Codemasters' sound sample for a 543hp Group A Skyline R32 is always going to sound better and more accurate than a player's 543hp R32 they built up in Forza and probably GT7, because those games are taking their sound samples from a factory R32, maybe modifying the exhaust portion, the turbo noises and the redline and other than how fast it revs, that's all that changes. Those modifications don't encompass all the other ways the sound of a highly modified car changes the way a recording of an already highly modified car will. I think that's part of why you generally don't get that proper screaming I6 sound the way a modified RB or 2JZ does IRL. The only way you're going to get that in Forza, GT or any other game where you're starting with factory car sounds is if they make the sample for a factory car sound inaccurate/modified. Might be a better route to just start with samples of modified cars, sort of more along the lines of what NFS does, prioritizing cars sounding "cool" over having accurate samples for when they're stock. When you buy a 90's Civic or Silvia in NFS, it sure as hell doesn't sound like the crappy, cheap, baffled mufflers that come on fairly inexpensive 90's Japanese sports cars lol.

I missed this game on release. But I recently bought it for the Nintendo Switch. And I was really just shocked at how natural the cars sound in this game.
