A centipede would be one of the best mounts because it has such a smooth ride with how many legs it uses to move.
Plus the climb speed; the dig speed, and the innate toxin centipedes/millipedes can have.
Leopard actually does not Trip on hit anymore, it's just a leftover from old description of his abilities. He also lost some natural armor to AC on leveling, and Dex to damage on leveling. I'd say it's a big nerf. Old Leopard was tanking god, and unhittable in Shield Maze on Unfair. New Leopard can be hit.
My boi the centipede just got buffed, I am happy
I always give a strength bonus to my triceratops with cheats, i can't stand that a 6000kg animal is not that much stronger than a 40kg dog.
Well, muscle tomweight ratio perhaps?
Sure the dino has more muscles. But its also more bulk.
well it's a fantasy game 😂 a human fighter can go from lifting 200 kg to lifting several tons after a few months of fighting 🤷
But the size starts as "medium" and then grows to "large". So, it's clearly the "Chihuahua" breed of triceratops, with stats to match.

Really a shame how often I have to change shit with Toybox to make it more suitable. Like how enlarge animal will sometimes simply. Not work.

It is my understanding that leopard lost the automatic trip ability, despite it remaining in the tooltip. Also - don't forget to take speed into account when looking at a mount. Getting your frontline into the enemies face ASAP is really useful.

unfortunate, especially when they're throwing more buffs to the dog pet... meh

Just recently got all of the dlc on sale today and was toying around with the idea of making an Order of the Paw Cavalier for a new run. I guess I'll have to give it a shot now that the dog got buffed.

About the bleed - it's not that useless if you are using a longsword that you are getting from a Lord of Nothing DLC boss. It has some extra effects against a bleeding enemy.
The riding dog boost makes me want to play a Cavalier of the Paw now.
Missed the hippogriff. For the cavalier subclass.
Can the first build you do be for the sable company Marine? I've only found one build so far and it's for Angel and I don't want to use it for Angel
I'm not sure if this is new but Aivu has 6 attacks from mythic rank 3. Checking if this remains after she levels up. This would make Azata significantly stronger.
Any thoughts on the new hippogryph pet?
New update ultimate builds for all the mythic paths would be great!
My poor smilodon.😢 I tried multiple times to build a riding kitsune tandem executioner.
Relying on shield bash knockdowns, rather than picking bully.

With the centipede getting trip at level 7, does it make it in any way competitive with other trip options at that point?
once again, dog continues to be the gamers' best companion
So basically the only worthwhile pets are Leopard (for Unfair cheesing but useless after level 7 UNLESS you hire a BFT and buffs him up with Dragon Form) and Dog (now very OP with the AC debuff in the early game BUT unless you get sth like Tandem Trip and a Drovier with Wolf Aspect, focusing on Trip won't be worth it for Unfair after Act 2 because of the boosted stats and immune to combat maneuver enemies). Boar is still the best pet for casters overall because of Ferocity and I guess the bleed will help immensively in the early game? As the bleed effect will last until the end of combat so that means 2d6 free damage each round against big bosses with super high AC that you cannot hit reliably in the early game.
HOWEVER I think the real winner here is the Elk Powerful Charge + Tripping Charge is just INSANE knocking the enemy prone and dealing devastating damage at the same time? Yes plzz! Slap this thing on a Legend Arcane Rider build with an Inciter merc and you will have a real winner here. Very powerful and devastating if you aint using the Griffon then Elk is def the best pet in the game for charging builds atm. Oh and there is the Triceratops BUT I would rather have Trip than my pet dealing more damage tbh.
"All animal companions had their stats adjusted as written in their descriptions" is a big nerf for Leopard and its tanking capabilities from level 4 - it used to get +2 AC, +2 DEX, +2 CON, now it gets exactly what is written in the description, that is +4 STR, -2 DEX, +2 CON and no AC - overall it's AC is now 4 points lower then it used to be from level 4
Good boy seems to be significantly weaker than teardown as the penalty to ac lasts a single round , while the wolf has +2/+4 to all prone as passive , this just makes selective aoe prone spells more Powerful
Does smilodon nerf applies also to undead smilodons? If not I will be mad.
Last time I used Monitor Lizard it was in Varnhold's Lot with Druid and it kinda sucked. Now I see video on pet buffs and I was excited, I thought to myself, maybe Monitor Lizard is playable now, nope still sucks.
They also snuck in a nerf to Bane of Spirit. They finally made it a swift action 😢
If you're looking for build ideas I have a new idea based on your old quarterstaff master lich build. All you need to do differently is take all the TWF feats and one level dip into Titan Fighter (around level 7). Also, you could eventually switch to legend so you'd max out Quarterstaff Master and Titan Fighter. You get tons of attacks (Flurry of Blows + Two Weapon Fighting) and each hits for obscene damage.
Will both staffs give passive bonuses to mage? Like Quarterstaff of the War Mage and Ashmaker?
@@kabal4113 Yep, you get bonuses from both weapons. Except Titan Fighter isn't a caster so you'll lose one caster level for the one level dip.
horses did get a buff, they gained Scent

One day I'll understand why dogs get higher STR than big cats, which are much more physically powerful in reality, in addition to being more agile. One of those areas where the stats are a bit wonky to my eyes.
centipede can not be hit by mind affecting spells.
So they pretty much just buffed best pets in the game aka dog/wolf. Ngl i wish they would buff other pets instead
Bite attacks don't stack anymore, it's been like that since lord of nothing I think
They don't stack with other sources that provide extra Bites, for example Skald Animal Fury or Bestial Gift from Witch!
But thankfully they can still be increased through normal BAB progression as the Wolf/Dog levels up and also Haste.

Pets are so good, there’s zero reason not to have one. And now they’re even crazier lol

your 3 patches behind... 2.3.1b, 2.3.1e, 2.3.2c and now the next update patch (in testing) should be released next week on Monday or Tuesday they hope. 2.3.xx
Also look forward to updates on all of your builds and new builds. Too many bugs at this time, pets are still borked, new features, spells, Archetypes are bugged...
It's just that the newer updates after the patch were mostly hotfixes/very small changes!
Meanwhile Gravesinger nerf for example is something people've been talking about a lot!

I guess it kinda make sense if any pet needs to be Nerf I guess it would be the Smilodon. I used the smilodon in kingmaker and it was very very broken

Daeran pet now have -1 level. Nice buff...
I think the latest hotfix mentioned fixing it, but yeah, my Daeran also has his Wolf at -1 level, have to see if respeccing him will fix it!
Daeran should have CHA 3 to fit his personality 😅😅🎉
Verify your game files, make sure your game is up to date and if you have mods make sure those are up to date too. There was a bug that caused pets to be behind in progression when the dlc launched due to trying to fix another bug where you could get your pet to actually be 1 level ahead of your level and they already fixed the -1 level bug the other day. I experienced the bug too but with the most recent patch if you just load in your pet just gets that level back like it's supposed to
@@zuloph This bug is only for new playthrough. Old saves are fine.
@vulpesinculta4426 yeah, I know. I started a new playthrough post dlc hence why I experienced the bug. A patch came out to fix the bug and when I launched that save my pet got the level back retroactively. I didn't even need to gain a level for my pet to get 2, just got the 1 immediately

Ok. So they buffed dog, which was already good, but nerfed smilodon, which wasn't as good? Gotcha. How very wise of them.
I honestly find it pretty strange that they encourage pet spam even more by buffing them. Like yeah its fun but it gets old pretty quick and you don't really have a reason not to use pets on most characters
What, are you telling me you don't enjoy RPGs that funnel you into certain playstyles?
But yeah, I agree. There's so many subclasses in the game and very few reasons to use them, as well.
Yeah you got it spot on. But I still love wotr and it's gameplay loop.
To be honest, all old pets suck compared to new ranger's pet (the chicken).
