If you have your party talk to the genie while you're in the lamp, you can ask him for repayment for sending you into the lamp and he'll still give you the 1000 gold
Ngl, my Tav's romance partner demanding Genie to get their "companion" free and his reaction to it was more than worth it.

I like how the lamp fits the description for the genie warlocks ability in 5e
I'm a brand new DM and I had a player play a fiery Genie. The lamp is amazing, though the rules are in many cases up to interpretation.
Taking a short rest while an ally carries you in their backpack is amazing value.
I even made a custom vessel which would spew fire (burning hands) as the warlock came out. Too bad he didn't end up sticking with the character
that would have been a cool way to unlock the genie warlock subclass, a nice way to form a bond with your new patron as well.
He was like "DAMMNNN YOU'RE SMART... GAHHH DAMN.... I GOTTA REWARD YOU."
Djinni ARE the nicest Genies in DnD lore, relatively speaking.

@@lozm4835 - Yeah that one at the circus who sent me on a vacation to dinosaur land to pick up my prize of that fantastic trident was super nice! Some sight-seeing and a powerful new weapon to replace Karlach's Returning Pike she was throwing all over up to that point!

The next hallway has a hidden room too. It has a summon deva scroll and a lot of lore.

That's because they went the lazy way with minor ilusion and it's actualy a summon familiar (cat) spell that lasts 1 turn and always uses its luring ability uppon summoning. You can even see the cat portrait for a split second alongside your character portrait when casting the cantrip.
Would be interesting if you could figure out how to use this lamp as a bag of holding or emergency lodgings when you want to rest some where.

There’s a hidden chest behind another false wall on then opposite side also.
Btw, summon scratch works, summon us, and then just unsummon them back to camp ehike they're inside and then will be st camp waiting for you. Additionally, if you have a companion waiting outside and you sat outside to meet the genie and pay you gokd that way, too. As long as someone is waiting outsy, no matter who you send in, you'll get paid by the genie
Minor illusion works as well, as it summons an illusory cat.
I cast minor illusion in there as a joke and it blew my fucking mind when it worked
the first time i came across the lamp my character touched it but my party members stayed outside and he interacted with them, saying the same thing about pitying us about our master being stuck in the lamp. My characters basically said something to the effect of i'll feel better with some gold and he gave my characters the gold. I will admit it took a while to figure out how to get out, I kept switching characters going in the lamp and eventually made a familiar touch the lamp from the outside.
There’s a post-it note on the wall in the 2nd floor of the sorcerers sun dries that mentions the lamp.. I went back in and found it immediately lol.
I like how people are still finding new stuff in the game
U can just have a character with mage hand touch the lamp (recommend Lazel) loot everything while ur trap have ur party tell the genie they want compensation get the free 1000 gold, then use mage hand with the character inside the lamp to get free 100% loot
I was actually able to get the Quasit out of the lamp. Im not really sure why. If I remember correctly, the Quasit was in my party after getting the Duke out of the underwater prison. He became my permanent pet 🤣

Are you a wizard and did you learn the someone quasit spell afterwards or even summon cheeky quasit? I ask because I know a couple ways to get everyone out but I haven't heard of this particular one
Btw, one way is to summon Us or Scratch while inside the lamp. Then click to unsummon them and they'll be back at camp, no harm done and not stuck in the lamp.
@@chipsalom There is a Summon Quasit Scroll inside one of the chests in the lamp.
I just used a summon inside to break out. Then followed to insult the genie for being so dumb. It was worth more than gold XD
I ended up nuking myself with a spell or barrel and had Asterion revive me at withers'.
Honestly I'd rather keep the quasit scroll and have my wizard k

Unless the currency system scales from copper to gold (or more, like platinum), I think I'd prefer going in an getting the "tons of scrolls and books". Seems like a better deal to learn new magic and possibly get rare items.
Funny i remember the arch mage saying something like " go fetch the genie lamp from the basement" i spent so long looking for that lamp and was disappointed when I couldnt find it.
🤔 has anyone tried summoning a Djinni to fill the Djinni lamp and take his place? Possibly a unique dialogue to be had there!! Sad i didnt try on my honormode run of all clerics, lots of familiars 😂

@@hazm4t483 honestly once you have 27 AC on each party member and crazy buffs every long rest it becomes super easy albeit repetitive (warlock eldritch blast meme? Yeah that but spirit guardians and spiritual weapon for turn economy 🤣)

When you open the map it tends to outline paths you can walk.
If the outline doesnt close well on a wall and keeps going thought it, that means theres a secret passage in there
You can also just cast banishment to yourself to get out of the lamp.

@@erikdahl6861in real DnD I Used it to cheesed out of the abyss by playing a Fey. Banishment is pretty broken when Used right so its great to See that Baldurs Gate aknowledged that fact.

If you unsummon the summon you put inside the lamp the lamp will break and you can never enter it again :( This happend to me so I wish I never touched it, or find some other way to get back to it

That’s so cool that there’s a special interaction for if you use a summon to start with. I felt really clever using a generic summon to go into the lamp, I honestly didn’t even notice there was a summon quasit in there…
You can also get the 1000 through conversion with other party members that are outside

Just found this last night. Great amount of loot in that lamp my god 👌🏻
Don't feel bad about trapping the quasit in the lamp. Quasits are demons so he was summoned from hell. The lamp is a nice change of pace.
And after you can enter it and collect the loot
Best bit is that the item you steal from the first genie you meet is the solution to the whole problem.
Reminds me of a side-quest from an old (2ed) _Dungeon_ magazine. What seems like a genie is actually a wizard cursed into being bound in a lamp biding his time to trick his master into taking his curse.
Now try putting Conor in it from the Hag quest
Funny Enough, me and one of my friends stumbled across this and I got stuck, so when we realized the gimmick, we just summoned a Familiar and just made him take my place

That's one of the few things I missed in my 200+ hours playthrough xddddd
i used the hag's zombie wand, you can use the zombie to move the thing, to get inside, and kick out whomever you have stuck inside, and just reuse the wand to break the thing. since nothing is inside, it implodes.
It's a good thing I'm a necromancer and kept a lot of fodders in my inventory.
This game is just full of secrets
After to get the 1000 gold, you can still go in to ransack the place, then drop another summon inside in order to get back out
The number of times I've been down there, and never noticed the wall....
I found this on my second playthrough, well not me, Scratch found it
Also since Scratch counts as a summon you can use him to and since dogs>genie magic he can escape from the lamp and go back to camp.

You get more for the items inside than what he gives you, worth getting trapped.
Even though I don’t play the game I wouldn’t purposely let any summon get imprisoned for gold

This just makes me wish Warlocks had access to a enie subclass more. As is, i fseel like the 3 subclassees amount to "definitely evil fiend, technically neutral but totally evil great old one, and Chaotic neutral fey", all somehow with only the vaguest hints of personality. All i want is something less evil (which admittedly the genie is pretty evil it seems but still) and with more personality.

I did this on my last run and my quazit stayed summoned, I couldn't go to it or dispell it, and after an hour or so the dude just popped back up lol I've been running shovel with gale and this guy won't die so I guess they'll be bffs

On that point in the game i already had like 50k gold with nothing to spent them on.
I did find it, and I loved how genie talked with Shadowheart, who was my romantic interest, and was amused that she wanted her companion back. But well, genie learned the hard way why it isn't good to throw shade on cleric.

I used Hireling! And the lamp was gone after long rest, with the Hireling too permanently.

After all the other lamps you find that say that they looked well-rubbed on the outsides because people have tried. lol

I feel like sending Scratch was by far my most evil act
I went on with my durge sorcerer and he told me I’d figure my way out in time. Immediately jumped to astarion and demanded the gold cause that felt in character for him lol also my quasit wasn’t even stuck there, he still fast traveled with me (no idea of that was a bug or not)
I just left shovel inside and resummoned him after killing the genie.
Why didn't the djinni summon the quasit himself?
I just summoned Scratch inside of the lamp to get out and dismissed him afterwards. 🤷
I'm sure or you read the comments above n said the same thing but who knows
@@user-eb6gr1ux6w What? I happened to find the lamp the night before, and went through the whole fight and had to figure out how to get out. There was a school in their of Summon Quazit, but it was just easier to summon Scratch. 🤷
