The changelings are a great narrative tool to provide an exterior look into the nature of humanity. But they also provide an interesting look into the dangers of illusory aloofness. The changelings are, arguably, even more agenda driven than most solids. Their predalection towards order and fear of persecution are more powerful drives for their motives than any other species in Star Trek. Yet they seem unaware of it.
